What's Your Story? Tell us. / Better Late than Never! :)
« on: March 09, 2010 at 10:17 PM »
Here is my update....
It has been awhile so I will start from the beginning.  I was put on bed rest at 12 weeks.  Yes....12 weeks... complete rest for preterm labor. I began the 17P injections at 14 wks (earlier than normal). I had a reaction to the preservative in the injection and I broke out in hives every week.  But I continued to take them because the hives were worth it compared to what might happen if I didn't take them.  I also had the terb pump and in home monitoring.  I had 2 ultrasounds a week so I felt like I really knew what Meghan looked like before she arrived!
I spent a lot of time on Keep em Cookin, twitter, and facebook.  That is how I kept my sanity.  ;D  This website is so informative!
I delivered a healthy baby girl at 36 weeks, she was 6lbs 9oz and 21 inches long on Sept 2nd.  (like I said better late than never!) LOL
I have made sure to tell anyone that is pregnant about your site.  I wish I would have known about it with my 1st pregnancy on bed rest!  Anyway, ladies, I know being on bed rest is very difficult. I have been there twice.  I delivered two healthy babies twice.  I am sending healthy happy vibes to all of you and best of luck....KEEP EM COOKIN!! ;D

Have you asked your doctor to examine you?  some doctors do not like to examine because it can sometimes cause contractions, but they could definitely get a cervical length for your own piece of mind.  Express your concerns to your doctor. He is there to treat you.

My doctor will not stop labor after 34 weeks.  My 1st child was born at 34 weeks, completely healthy, by the way.  They hope to make it to 34 weeks with this one also, but my preterm labor started at 13 wks this time instead of 20.

With my 1st pregnancy I was on strict bed rest and in the hospital for the better part of 3 months.  This time I am 15 wks pregnant and on strict bed rest until my delivery. The doctors are expecting me to be hospitalized by 24 weeks and hope to keep me from delivering before 34 weeks.  Any ideas on ways to stay sane?  I have read books, watched day time tv (which is terrible)  :) and surfed the net to my hearts content.
