Making the Best of Bed Rest / Re: Roll Call for Monday June 25

Wild+wee : Just remember you are doing what's best for baby right now and EVERY DAY counts and makes a difference. Once baby is born you will look back and think " wow that went by quick !! My husband, kids and I usually go the beach with my sister and her family this time every year. I must admit, it sucks that we can't make it this year but I much rather have a healthy baby ! Plus, we really don't have the extra cash right now anyways, newborns are expensive, lol !! Keep up the good work and STAY POSITIVE FOR BABY !!   :)

Today I made 34w 5d. Soo very happy we have made it this far ! I have been in the hospital since Monday evening because I started bleeding, due to pressure on my cerclage. I'm not bleeding as much as I was Monday evening. It is kind of like a "medium" period. My ob wants me to see the specialist today for her to look at my cervix and cerclage, also to get a second opinion. It is very possible that we deliver today or within the next couple of days. I hate not knowing exactly what they will decide to do. :-\ We shall see tho. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers right now. Good luck to everyone, we are doing the best for our babies !!  :)

I had a permanent cerclage put in at 18 weeks. At that time my cervix was measuring around 2.3. My doc had also told me that there was a chance of my water breaking during the procedure. But, my past 2 pregnancies both resulted in premature babies so we knew it was best to risk it and do the stitch. Thankfully everything went very well. Since then my cervix has held up pretty well. As of today, I am 32w5d. My last cervical measurement was around 1.8. I have an appt today and I think they will do the last measurement today. Take everything your doc says very seriously! If you are on bedrest, stick to it religiously ! I didn't see if you said you are on bedrest or not. If you aren't , you may want to ask your doc about it. Bedrest works wonders for women in our position ! Also, about the P17 shots, I have been on them since 18 weeks. I have been taking 1cc once weekly. I have just enough left for one more dose so today I'm going to ask my doc if it's o.k. to stop them. For me, I have insurance but I still have to pay a good bit for it. I hate to get another month's worth and the baby be born in a week or two. But, if my doc says I need to continue them, then I will just have to bite the bullet and pay up lol !! I hope some of this helps you out. Good luck with the remainder of your pregnancy !  :)

I am 32w4d as of today. I have an appointment with my regular ob and also with my specialist tomorrow. Anxious to see how the appointments will go. I know my specialist will be doing an ultrasound so I'm really looking forward to that. I love taking a little peek to see what baby is up to in there lol. My oldest (6 yrs old) is going to be coming into the ultrasound room with me so I'm anxious to see how he reacts. He is so excited! I'm always telling him about the ultrasounds I have so he is super excited to finally get to see it for himself!

For Father's Day my whole family is going over to my parent's house for a bbq so I am looking forward to that. Beings I am on strict bedrest, when we get there I will be confined to a trusty sofa or recliner, but I know they will make sure someone is inside to keep me company. Really  I just want all of the fathers in the family to have a nice day. Yesterday was my hubby and I anniversary. Normally we would go out to dinner and a movie but couldn't do that this year  :(. But this weekend our 2 boys are going sleep over at their grandparents' so I'm looking forward to my hubby and I having a night and probably a whole day alone together. We will order out from our fav restraunt and rent a good movie off of ppv, and enjoy a quiet house for a bit lol !!!! Sorry I kinda went on a bit....everyone have a great week and Keep Em Cookin !!!  ;D

Hello Daniela, I also have a cerclage, had it put in at 18 weeks due to short cervix. I also have been on the p17 shots since then. My doc put me on strict bedrest after the cerclage. I am now 32weeks 4days, hoping to make it to next goal of 36 weeks. But, I am honestly happy I have made it this far ! To you, 32 weeks may sound far away but I promise it really does pass by quick! Just listen to your doc and stay positive. Bedrest really does work wonders for mamas in our position! Keep us updated!  :)

Hang in there, Hope !! I had a cerclage put in at 18 weeks and have been on strict bed rest since. I am now 32 weeks 3 days. Looking back, it has really gone by fast. When I had my cerclage put, my cervix was so very short that they had to do a permanent cerclage. I will have this thing in forever ! Since then I have had a few hospital stays for diffrent reasons and a month ago I was hospitalized because I had began to dialate (to 1cm). At that time they admitted me and gave me a round of IV magnesium. I have not dialated any further since. I have been on p17 shots since 18 weeks and have also taken a few rounds on indocine. I'm not going to lie to you, bedrest can get hard sometimes. You just have to remember you are NOT alone and that you are doing whats best for baby!! When I had my cerclage, I remember thinking that I would never make it on bedrest. But as I said, looking back, it has passed by quick. Keep around things to do, like books or magazines to read. Alot of women sew, or learn to. Maybe have someone pick you up a few crossword or sudoku books. And I can spend hours online looking at baby things, reading articles and playing games. Take the time to relax and stay healthy for baby !!  STAY POSITIVE !!:D

Thanks Stace. My doc says that there is lots of pressure on my cervix so we are pretty sure thats what caused me to bleed. I'm hoping it doesn't happen again tho cause it's scary no matter what. I just gotta stick to this bedrest !!

CONGRATS !! Enjoy your new baby girl, they grow wayyyy too fast ! Hope you have a speedy recovery, take care !

Last Friday evening (i had made 31 weeks that day) I went to the bathroom to pee and as I was going, I felt something "come out". I could tell it was a blood clot. Sure enough, it was a clot, about the size of a quarter, followed by a gush of blood. My hubby rushed me to L&D. My doc happened to be on call so he was there. He checked me and everything looked good. He thought I was going into labor. He said that when you have a cerclage , you can begin to bleed like that when you go into labor. By the next afternoon, the bleeding had completely stopped. He kept me in the hospital for a few days to monitor us (both the baby and I) and I came home on Monday. I haven't had anymore bleeding since. He said that when he checked me vaginally that the cerclage felt "tight", so the bleeding was most likely caused from that and also the pressure on the cerclage. Has anyone else with a cerclage had any bleeding episodes like this? I had a bleed around 23 weeks but that was from placenta previa. I no longer have a previa so we know the bleeding wasnt from that. Thanks for the help ladies  :)

Thanks for the help ladies, great suggestions !

Jmegio, my doctor had also mentioned to me not to strain much, but sometimes I have no option. I hate to do it, especially with my cerclage and the fact that I'm already dialated to around 1cm. Hopefully things aren't too bad for the remainder of my bedrest !

Heather, the progesterone injections are a little pricey ! I have insurance but the progesterone costs me around $90 a month. Right now I have enough for I think 2 injections left, at that point I may ask my doctor about the suppositories, beings they are cheaper. I would hate to get a refill and have the baby a week later ! But if the doc says to stick with the injections, I will. I rather pay a little extra for a safer baby !!

I have been taking weekly progesterone injections since around 17 weeks. I am currently 30 weeks. For those of you that have taken them, at what point did your doctor take you off of them? Last week my specialist said that once I get to 34 weeks, if I go into labor they won't try to stop it any longer. So I'm thinking they will take me off maybe around 33 or 34 weeks?

Also, I know the question I am about to ask is a little, um, personal  :o, but if anyone has any suggestions, they willl be greatly apperciated ! Since I have been on bedrest, I have had lots of problems with constipation. One week everything may be fine and then the next I am severely constipated. Then sometimes out of the blue, I may get diarreah (sp?) for a day or so. My doctor has me on peri colace twice a day. I also keep over the counter glycerine suppositories on hand for when I need. At one point it got so bad I had to drink this horrible stuff. I forget the name, it was something over the counter. Is anyone else having these problems? If so, any suggestions?

Thank you in advance for any and all replies !  :D

Angela, next time I make a purchase off of Amazon, I will definitely do it thru the Keep Em Cookin website!

As of today , I am 30w3d. Back at 18 weeks when I got my cerclage and was put on bedrest, 30 weeks seemed like a lifetime away ! But looking back I can honestly say it has passed by pretty quickly. At last week's appointment, my cervix measured around 1.8 and I was still dialated to 1 cm (same as week before). Our next goal is 32 weeks, so I am looking forward to that ! To make it to 36 weeks would be absolutely amazing ! We can do it ladies, just do your best to always STAY POSITIVE ! I have my weekly appointment on Thursday, looking forward to some good news !

Hope everyone has a great week, and a wonderful Memorial Day. HUGE "Thank You" to all of our soldiers, past and present.  :)

Making the Best of Bed Rest / Re: So done with bed rest
« on: May 26, 2012 at 11:47 AM »
I wish i could give you some advice but this morning I was laying in bed thinking the exact same thing, that I don't konw how much longer I can do this ! I have been on strict bedrest since 18 weeks (I am now 30 weeks). I have had 3 week long hospital stays and have been home the rest of the time. I also have to lay back at all times. My husband works full time, and we have two young boys, ages 2 and 6. I like to keep a clean house. Toys laying around don't really bother me because I know we can get them picked up in a few minutes. But to have dirty kitchen/bathroom/floors/dusty furniture/ KILLS ME ! It is soooo very hard to sit here and see how much housework needs to be done and I can't do anything about it! My husband is nothing of a housecleaner, this morning he finally loaded the dishwasher after 3 days of dishes piling up. I know he works all day but I really think he could put in ALOT more at home ! Everything I ask him to do he complanis. If I ask for a drink, I have to beg for it. Sometimes he will even say "get up and get it yourself". Really? Does anyone elses husband act this way? He is constantly in a bad mood, and fusses the kids and I all the time. He is used to me taking care of everything so I guess thats why he is responding this way. My parents and sister help us out a ton ! If it weren't for them I don't know what we would do. Our yard needs to be cut and weedeated (sp?) sooooo very bad, its embarassing ! Most of the neighbors know whats going on so hopefully they understand why it isn't getting done as often as it neeeds !!! Lord, I could go on and on and on !! This has DEFINITELY been a test of our marriage !! Once things get back to normal, I think it is going to take a good while for my husband and I to get our relationship back to normal. We love each other to death, thats whats holding us together right now. I know I just vented like crazy, but I just want you to know you aren't alone !! Just try to always keep in mind that this won't last forever and every day the babies are in your belly the better !! You CAN do this for another month, or longer if needed! Think positive (even tho it seems impossible to do so) ! I hope yall can get something figured out with your dogs. Maybe your husband can try to talk with the neighbors and let them know whats going on and that yall are doing everything yall can with them.  If your doctors have you in the hospital, then thats the best place for you ! Think about how much good you are doing for the twins. A year from now you will look back and realize it was all worth it and wasn't as bad as you thought it was. Oh yeah, even if you are turning into a "you know what" (hahahahaa), you DESERVE  to !!! If someone has a problem with it, oh well lol....STAY STRONG !!  ;D

Hello ladies ! I am currently 29w4d and going into my 13th week of bedrest !  :o At last Tuesday's appt, my doc told me my cervix was measuring around 1.9 (down from about 2.2) and that I had dialated to about 1cm. He also did a FFN that day and it came back negative, which gives me hope. He admitted me and I did a 48 hr. dose of magnesium and antibiotics. I had an ultrasound and baby looked good. They also kept me on the monitor a good bit and it never picked up any contractions. They checked my cervix again on Friday morning and everything was still the same so I was allowed to come home. I have an appt tomorrow with my regular ob and also with my specialist. I'm praying for good news ! I have 2 young boys so it is so extremely hard to be away from them. It is even harder to watch my family do soooo many things for me. I know they have to be worn out but they don't complain. Friday I will be 30 weeks. Once I get there I will be looking forward to 32, then 34 and so on. How awesome it would be to get to 36 ! Hope everyone gets good news this week, STAY POSITIVE LADIES !  :)

well it sounds like they have you on the right meds to get you on track.
I can definitely relate to your stresses from bedrest. I am going into my 11th week of it! yesterday i went in for my weekly checkup and my doc said i am dialated to 1cm so he admitted me and i am doing a 48 hr magnesium drip.  this helps to stop the labor. they are also monitoring me for contractions and i havent had any, thankfully. so im hoping that these meds do their job so that i can go home maybe saturday or sunday. i MUCH rather be on bedrest at home. this hospital bed is horrible ! oh well, baby girl is more than worth it! i also tell my hubby about the stories i read on here, and talk to baby and tell her to stay put a while longer !! i swear if it werent for my laptop and tv i would go nuts during the day ! every day i look forward to my hubby and kiddos getting home. they bring the house back to life. now that i'm in the hospital, my hubby sleeps here at night and my parents and sister are keeping my 2 boys. i hate not seeing them everyday but at least i know they are in good hands. well i just realized i kinda rambled on there lol.....hope all is well for you !

Hello MM2 ! In my opinion, you are definitely doing the right thing by staying on bedrest and placing the situation in God's hands. Pray, pray, pray. It will help to calm you. About the meds you are on, there are a couple I haven't even heard of but I guess it's best you trust your doc's orders. Maybe try to look them up online and try to get some info on them that way. Hope your checkup on Saturday goes well, keep us posted. Bedrest can be hard but just remember to tell yourself it won't last forever !!  :)
