What's Your Story? Tell us. / They are here! Bedrest success!
« on: January 03, 2016 at 09:07 PM »
I was taken off of bedrest at 36 weeks on the 27th. We decided to go see a movie. Half way through the movie I started contracting 5 minutes apart. We grabbed lunch after and they went to 2 to 3 minutes apart. I went straight to the hospital and was at 4 to 5 cm already. The contractions slowed all night and were almost gone by morning even with pitocin. My doctor said most likely from a stretched uterus and being on nifedipine for 3 months. I ended up with a csection the next morning on the 28th. They are absolutely perfect! Violet Leia was 5 lbs 15oz and 19.5 inches long. Her brother, Jack Luke, was 5 lbs 13oz and 19.25 inches long. Violet had low blood sugar and stayed in the nursery for a few hours but it went up by afternoon.  We all came home together on new years eve! I can't believe how great everything turned out after all this started at 22 weeks.  I am so glad that bedrest worked and thankful for you ladies helping me get through it!

Well after all this time keeping these babies in, now we need them to come out. My ultrasound yesterday showed that I have a very thin uterus now which could be dangerous.  I'm on bedrest until this Sunday which will be 36 weeks but then my doctor is hoping I go into labor on my own. Otherwise we are inducing right at 37 weeks! I'm nervous and excited at the same time. I stopped the nifedipine yesterday.  Has anyone else had this issue? I'm hoping I can still labor and it's not too weak.

Preterm Labor: Anything and Everything / Positive ffn test
« on: October 09, 2015 at 01:12 AM »
My doctor called tonight to tell me that my ffn was positive this time. I'm 24 weeks 5 days. Has anyone else received a positive?  How far have you gotten after?

I went in to my doctor last Monday at 22 weeks because I was having a lot of contractions.  More than normal all that weekend before too. She checked my cervix and it was 1.5 cm and funneling. Down from 4cm at my previous check. She sent me to the hospital for further testing. The contractions were not slowing at the hospital so they gave me procardia. They finally started slowing down. The fibronectin test was negetive and I was sent home on strict bed rest.  She said not to sit up, only laying down and I can only get up to use the bathroom or shower. I've been taking the procardia every 6 hours. I went back to the doctor a week later and my cervix measured 1cm. She said that was not a big difference from last week and said I can stay at home. She did the fibronectin test again and it was still negetive. I have contractions all day long, usually 1 to 2 an hour but a few times they started coming really quickly, every few minutes. When I called,  I was told to take a second procardia and drink lots of water. It worked. I was really freaking out for the first week. I am so emotional over it. I just don't know what to expect. I want them to stay in there until at least December and I'm not sure if that's even possible.  My doctor keeps saying she wants me to make it to 28 weeks. Now I'm worried that they won't even make that :(
