Making the Best of Bed Rest / Birth Announcement
« on: March 05, 2011 at 09:11 AM »
Rosalyn Scarlett was born at 12 noon on Friday March 4th.  Induced labor at 39 weeks, 1 day.
She weighed 7 lbs, 1oz, and 20 in long.  She is super cute if I do say so myself!  :)

It's (Roz-uh-lynn), some people have asked, or called her Rose-a-lynn.  But, Rosalyn is the proper spelling according to babynames.com

- What do u guys think?  Should I have spelled it differently?  Guess its too late now...

Making the Best of Bed Rest / Stretch Mark City
« on: March 01, 2011 at 06:17 PM »
Anyone else covered in stretch marks?
They have increased big time in the past 3 weeks.  I was using cocoa butter everyday for the first several months, then at the first sign of stretch marks I switched to Mustela.  It hasn't helped.
I expected a few stretch marks - but I have tons of them - and they are even on my butt too.  :(
Why couldn't the baby come out back on Feb 17th when I was 4cm dialated?  Or last week when I was 5cm!

I noticed that since my 17p injections have stopped that I have been able to increase my carb consumption without 'busting' the blood sugar limits.  So, I looked online and found this study:
http://care.diabetesjournals.org/content/30/9/2277.full.pdf

Not that I am frowning upon the 17p injections - I truly believed they helped me make it to 37 weeks (almost 38 now), but its good info.

Making the Best of Bed Rest / STUPID ADVICE
« on: February 11, 2011 at 05:57 PM »
Let's vent here so that maybe we don't kill the next person who offers up some f'ing stupid advice.  >:(
This will be the first baby that I get to bring home from the hospital.  So yes, I am a beginner (besides babysitting for friends and a 3-month stint of working at a daycare)...BUT there are some things that you just know without someone having to tell you!

Grandmother A - Telling me about how my cousin and my aunt use their baby monitors.  Like I can not imagine what a person would do with a baby monitor.  Nevermind that I REGISTERED for a monitor and Grandmother A knows this because she bought it for me!  Really, people look in on their babies after they put them to bed?  Gee...what a concept.  I was too stupid to grasp that on my own, thanks so much.

Grandmother B - Proceeds to tell me about how some man got frustrated cause his baby was crying and shook it - and he gave the baby brain damage.  Wait Grandma, let me get a pen and write this down:  Never shake the baby!  Ok, got it!  We don't have television news programs out here in Ohio, so I have never heard any downsides of shaking your baby.  I'm so glad you called to tell me this.  Seriously, I am so insulted that it makes me physically ill.

Making the Best of Bed Rest / VENT: potty breaks!
« on: February 07, 2011 at 01:02 PM »
OMG - I think I'm peeing at least every hour, maybe even every 30 minutes now.  Last night I got up 4 times to use the bathroom, that's a new record.  I might as well just set up a bed in the bathroom.  The worst part is I'm thirsty, so I keep drinking water! :P

Preterm Labor: Anything and Everything / Birthdays of Lost Babies
« on: February 05, 2011 at 06:59 PM »
The birthday of my lost twins is on Tuesday.  My husband & I would like to do something of course, but I don't have many ideas.  I'm afraid the painful memories could cause me to have contractions - is that possible or am I crazy?  Anyway, I was wondering what other people have done to mark the occassion since I know I'm not the only one here who has experienced a loss.   :(

Thanks

Making the Best of Bed Rest / BORING!
« on: February 05, 2011 at 06:52 PM »
I'm so bored today.  Pretty sad when the weekends are less exciting than weekdays.

The baby is making big movements today and it is making me uncomfortable.   :-\   I really hope she isn't turning around.  At my appointment this week she was head down, and I'd really like her to stay that way since we're 35wks+2d.  I start seeing the OB/GYN weekly now.  Anyone have any idea what these appointments will be like??  Just more of the usual: measure fundus, check blood pressure & weight, urine sample, bye bye see ya next time?  ???

What is everyone else doing?  I have some 'thank you' notes to write, but not really in the mood to start those.  Maybe tomorrow.

Making the Best of Bed Rest / Round Ligament Pain
« on: January 20, 2011 at 06:37 PM »
I've been having terrible ligament pains the last two days.  Any tips for relieving the pain, besides drinking lots of water?

If anyone is familiar, and wouldn't mind providing some info  ....will I know it when I see it?   ???

Making the Best of Bed Rest / How do u relieve stress on bed rest?
« on: January 09, 2011 at 03:41 PM »
Epiphany today:
In the past, when stressed - I could walk the aisles of Target, go get a pedicure, go to the gym, go anywhere, etc.  Or maybe eat cookies or ice cream (gest diabetes ruined that one).  I realized today that I really have zero stress relief.  Combine that with pregnancy hormones and its no wonder I'm on an emotional rollercoaster!
How do you ladies cope when you are angry or frustrated?  I don't want to yell and scream anymore.   :-X  This poor baby probably thinks its mother is a monster.

Making the Best of Bed Rest / Depression
« on: January 06, 2011 at 08:43 PM »
How do the rest of you keep your spirits up?
Its very hard for me as a woman to be completely worthless around the home, and feel terribly unattractive on top of it.
:'(    Even though I'm pregnant, I feel like less of a woman than when I was a flat-chested teenager!  I'm afraid my husband resents me because of the huge burden he is under doing absolutley EVERYTHING.  There is never a break, I always need food, clean clothes, prescriptions filled, chauffuered to numerous doctor's appointments, etc, etc.  So, its like I'm not just worthless....I'm ruining someone else's life...I'm a totally negative.

Making the Best of Bed Rest / Anyone used babypool.com ?
« on: January 04, 2011 at 10:55 AM »
http://www.babypool.com/pool_home.php

I was thinking about doing an online baby shower with this website, and possibly a teleconference or Skype connection.
Anyone used this website before?

I just wanted to vent.  I have the hardest time remembering to look at the clock after every meal so that I know when to test!  So annoying watching the clock all day long.
Although I will (begrudgingly) admit that I actually feel better and have more energy sticking to this low-sugar diet.  If only my husband would stop eating chocolate & cookies in front of me....ARGH!!!   >:(
