What's Your Story? Tell us. / Baby Max is here.
« on: August 30, 2011 at 11:22 PM »
Hi all,
Baby Max arrived as scheduled on Monday, Aug 22nd via C-section at 39 weeks.  After more than 3 months on bed rest (with 2 of those months in the hospital) for a short cervix we feel very blessed to have a healthy baby boy join our family.  He weighed in at 9 lbs 3 oz and 21 inches.  Those steroid shots must ave helped him grow big and strong. :). The delivery went smoothly and recovery is going well too.

He joins our older son who was also born at 39 weeks after a lengthy bed rest stint for a short cervix.  We are doing great and now that my parents have flown back home, we are beginning to adjust to our new life as a family of four.

For those of you still cooking, get up the good work and stay positive.

Making the Best of Bed Rest / Good News!!!
« on: June 28, 2011 at 11:11 AM »
I had an ultrasound this morning and my cervical length had increased to 1.5, with very little change with pressure applied. I was down to .5 at my last check 3 weeks ago.  They estimated the baby's weight at 4 lbs, so at just over 31 weeks, he is growing well. The best part is they have cleared me to go home from the hospital! After 8 plus weeks in the hospital, I am thrilled to get to go home to my family.   He also said by 34 weeks, I could begin increasing activity. So I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!

Hello ladies,
I have been lurking here and reading posts for a while, and finally decided to join in. I found this website about 2 years ago when I was pregnant with my first son. I am now pregnant with son #2 and back on bed rest. I was put on bed rest at home last week for a short cervix. When they checked me again on Monday, it showed a little shorter. So I am now in the hospital on bed rest. It's much harder this tome around since I have a 19 month old at home. He and daddy visit me everyday, but it's not the same as being with him at home all the time.  I am currently just under 24 weeks, so I feel like I have a long road ahead of me.  I struggle most with being away from my little boy and can't wait until I at least get to go home on bed rest.

This is such a neat forum and I enjoy reading everyone's post and wish all the best to each of you.

What's Your Story? Tell us. / New to Site and to Bed Rest
« on: July 16, 2009 at 01:18 AM »
Hi,
I found this site through Twitter. I am 30 weeks pregnant and have now been on bed rest for about a week and a half in the hospital.  I went in for a regularly scheduled Ultrasound about a week and a half ago and they found that my cervix was too thin. They wisked me away to L & D to monitor me and begin steroid shots to help the baby's lungs mature.  After several hours, I was sent to another room to begin my hospital stay. My doctor gave me the FFN test, and it came back positive, so they are monitoring me in the hospital for now.

I had no symptoms of preterm labor, so I was quite suprised when our trip to the hospital for he Ultrasound ended up in a long hospital bed rest stay for me.

I'm excited to find this site and see what ideas and resources about bed rest and preterm labor I can find here.
