Talk about excitement...  I can BARELY sit still anymore!  :)

Making the Best of Bed Rest / 32 weeks TODAY!
« on: September 16, 2011 at 02:34 PM »
I'm so excited and I need to share my excitement with people who understand.  :)

I'm 32 weeks today, woooooooooh.  My first pregnancy was rocky, ending in delivering a 26 weeker who is a.k.a. Princess Olivia.  She's doing fantastically well -- a smart kid with no development or growth delays.  She's been a walking miracle to so many.

Anyway, when I got pregnant this time around I was scared TO DEATH because I had read that once you have a preemie, you'll likely deliver prematurely again.  And often, earlier than the previous pregnancy.  Now that's a pretty terrifying statistic if you ask me.  Delivering at 26 weeks is scary enough, anything earlier than that... I can't imagine.

After getting set up with a new high-risk doctor who felt confident that he could help me get to at least 30 weeks, being 32 weeks makes me feel great!!!  :)

So, if you're feeling like you can't make it any further... don't give up!  Half of getting there is having a positive mindset.  Hang in there ladies!  If I can make it, you can too!

So... this weekend is supposed to bring a hurricane to the East coast where I live.  I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little worried.  About what though?  Hm, flooding, power outages, eating pretzels and nutri-grain bars if the power stays off for too long... not being able to get to the hospital if I have a problem.  ???

This should be a mighty interesting weekend!   :D

Any other hurricane anticipaters???

Making the Best of Bed Rest / Frustrated about Contractions
« on: August 05, 2011 at 07:49 PM »
I was under the impression that being given Progesterone shots and taking Procardia would prevent preterm labor.  So far, that's been the case.  And now I had 2 contractions today.  I'm feeling pretty confused... and a little bit scared.  :(

Any other experience with these drugs and contractions?

I've got a 9th wedding anniversary coming up in a few weeks.  Any good celebrating ideas?  I can't make a decision to save my life lately, lol!  :)

The hubby deserves something extra special this year... he's been a real trooper for so long.

Any ideas?  Hubby and I can't seem to find a baby girl name that we love.  I'm afraid we'll name baby girl something that I might regret later on.

Any Ideas?????

Anyone else have the home monitoring service approved by their insurance?  I just learned I need to get set up with this service for preterm labor, but was warned that insurance rarely covers the service.  My doc said some people will pay out of pocket and the company that provides the service might work out a financial deal with you.

Anyone know more about this??  Or about how much it might cost?  I'm afraid I might get sticker shock and have to refuse the service even though it sounds awesome.

Everything was going fine until my appt yesterday when they found funneling to my cerclage, my cervix shortened, and possible preterm labor.  I'm going back to the hospital today to get a swab test done and for steroids.  I'm really scared.  I already had a horrible experience with a 26 weeker 6.5 years ago and I don't want to go through that again!  :(  Stressful day today...  :(

Making the Best of Bed Rest / Cerclage removal during a C-section?
« on: June 21, 2011 at 05:49 PM »
Since I've heard so many horror stories about cerclage removal, has anyone had their cerclage removed during a scheduled C-section?  I'm trying to avoid unnecessary pain.  I have to have a C-section - no choice.  Why not get the cerclage removed while I'm numb, right?

Making the Best of Bed Rest / Chat Room for Moms on Bed Rest!
« on: June 21, 2011 at 05:37 PM »
Does anyone know of any good chat rooms that are active?

I've been on bedrest since about 5 and a half weeks when I started to bleed.  As soon I was confirmed to not be miscarrying, I was put on progesterone tablets and that seemed to work wonders.  :)  But I was still told to put my feet up and rest on the couch as often as possible.  I'm 16 weeks tomorrow and starting to go crazy.  Nearly 11 weeks of bedrest and I still haven't adjusted to this temporary lifestyle of isolation and constant worry.  Even thought my doctor said that I'll be delivering at 35 weeks, I still have 19 weeks of bedrest to complete.  Anyone else dealing with long term bed rest?

One day at a time...

Preterm Labor: Anything and Everything / So THIS is a cerclage?!
« on: May 26, 2011 at 04:19 PM »
I am on my 3rd pregnancy and recently experienced my first cerclage.  How come no one what tells you the potential things that can happen like the epidural hitting a nerve or too much of the epidural numbing only one side and not the other OR about how much you actually feel during it... OR the humiliation of being nearly upside down and totally exposed!  Ugh.  I thought it was going to be a breeze, what a nightmare!

I was under the impression that they were "NO big deal!" What a surprise I had.  Ugh.
