I hope you and your budding family are doing a bit better this morning!

I'm just writing to chime in on my thoughts about going to the US. I completely agree with SuzieQMom - find out why they're doing the ultra sound. I have one every week which seems like overkill, but they were using it to measure whether my cervix was continuing to open and if my "water sac" was moving closer to my cerclage.

If they're trying to get data points for a big picture, going to the appointment might be important.

I live a LONG way away from my OB/MFM office and this works for me. An appointed individual (usually my husband) drives me to the appointment. I am reclining in the car. When we get there, we take a wheelchair to the office and I don't move until they take vitals (urine sample, weight, blood pressure). The process is basically reversed coming back with the goal of walking as little as possible AND being reclined for as long as possible.

Of course - this is just my experience. I hope it helps you make a decision!

Hi everyone!

Sorry I haven't checked in sooner. I've been busy with some projects for work. I'm in my 27th week and so far I'm still stable. I have my MFM appointment tomorrow. If everything goes well, I will be cleared to return to work on Tuesday.

Trying to stay positive that I'll reach my 28 week goal this Saturday!  ;D

Making the Best of Bed Rest / Crinone Gel Question
« on: May 18, 2017 at 06:58 AM »
Morning (if it's morning for you!) - I'm wondering if anyone else is on Corinne Gel and having problems with clogging/clumping. I started getting impacted and couldn't insert the applicator - so I cleaned enough out to make application possible.

If you had this issue - what did your doctor have you do for it. I see my OB today to discuss this, but I'd also like to know how others handled it. Thanks in advance!

Hi CoffeNSand,

I'm on bedrest too! I may be repeating myself - can't see the previous post ... I had an emergency cerclage placed at 21 weeks. Counting down the days until Week 24 seemed like an eternity - with the help of others and some well timed distractions, I made it.

I'm currently on Week 26 + 5 - my OB & MFM peeps want me to make it to Week 28. Then we regroup.

I have an OB appointment tomorrow to check in on things... I'm not loving the "clumping" that comes with the progesterone suppository I'm on. Trying to stay neutral, keep my mind busy, and communicate with people going through the same thing as me.

I've been surprised to find so many success stories - so it gives me hope and inspiration to stay patient and take care of myself and baby!

Ooh - I forgot to ask - are you on bedrest? At home/hospital?

I struggle with fear as well. What worked for me was focusing on a week at a time and reading books about caring for babies in the NICU. A great one is "Understanding the NICU" by Zaichin, Weiner, and Loren. There are so many helpful success stories in there from so many different challenges. And it helped me to think - if my daughter is born now, then she will have this happen.

You're so close to viability - stay strong!

Good morning Sally 41!

I think your positive attitude is just inspiring. When I had my emergency cerclage placed, I was not nearly as composed as you are.

Sounds like you're doing everything you can for your dear daughter and that you're getting great medical care. You'll be in my thoughts this week - I hope everything goes as you hope it will!

Glad you found someone willing to help take care of your family in such a special way. Keep us updated with how the cerclage holds! I'm rooting for you!

How is he doing? I know you have to proceed hour by hour, but are things at least going as expected?

Making the Best of Bed Rest / Re: Monday Roll Call for May 8, 2017

I'm 25 weeks and 4 days today. I've been on bedrest at home for 3 weeks and 4 days. I'm allowed 6 hours a week to move around, go out and be social/work. Maternal Fetal Medicine appointment on Thursday morning to measure cervix length. Doing a progesterone supplement everyday to see if it helps me stay more stable or regain length. I'm trying to stay positive and make plans for every day but I'm struggling with feeling so isolated during the day.

Other than that - I'm great this week!  ;D
