Preterm Labor: Anything and Everything / Re: Short Cervix at 20 weeks 6mm

Interesting! I hadn’t heard is mag sulfate to keep it from shortening but to stopmlabor contractions.

When you got your pessary did they need to fit you with a certain size? I was worried about things going in and out.

Week two of bed rest and 25 weeks tomorrow! Hopefully many more to go!

I agree, my husband is already going above and beyond to take care of me...I think we will have a nice low key Valentine’s Day and regroup next year :)

I am curious Madison the switch from your usual contractions to the painful was, I’m assuming it was obvious? I’m a first time mom and having twins and have had braxton Hicks similar to yours. A random 20-30 times a day and that’s while on bed rest (which I currently am) before this is was likely much more. I’ve had bouts where they come every 10 minutes for say 45 minutes then I get them to stop. I have a very short cervix (less than 1 cm) so my concer has been if I start to dilate and have real contractions...I hope I know! They said it should feel like menstrual cramps? And you say you also felt nauseous?

I too just found out last week my cervix was between .5 and .9 mm at 23 weeks. This was after it was a solid 40mm at 19 weeks. It happened so fast! Now I’m on progesterone and bed rest. It’s nice to hear similar situations and making it pretty far! 29 weeks sounds amazing!! Hoping the time passes quickly.

Same boat! I am 24 weeks today and my cervix was between .55 and .9 (guess there’s some tech user error involved). Next check up is next Tuesday feb 12th. Hoping to also be stable!

I’m just on progesterone. They have not suggested the pessary yet. They mentioned it but seems like it’s mostly via research studies now? They said I could get it outpatient but haven’t really talked much about it since. I’m curious what your doctors think about it?

What's Your Story? Tell us. / Newbie! 24 wk with 6mm cervix twins
« on: February 06, 2019 at 06:26 PM »
Just diagnosed with short cervix last week at 23 weeks with twins. It was a scary day but im not dilated yet or leaking so there’s that to be thankful for so far. I’m on bed rest until The foreseeable future, made it one week tomorrow! I hope time passes a little faster. I was never a patient person and am constantly moving. The kind of person that when I get home from a long day at work I just decide to re organize my whole garage because I can. So laying on my side is rough all day! But SO worth it if I can keep these babies in for another 8-10 weeks minimum!

I’d love to hear suggestions on passing the time and others success stories. I was so convinced it was over until I started looking online and see a lot of women make it. It made me so hopefully! I’m a first time mom and everything is so new. When the progesterone leaks out of me I panic it’s my water breaking. When I get a gas cramp I panic that I’m dilating. I’ve had constant Braxton Hicks, sometimes 6 or more per hours, that are being made better since on bed rest, but still terrified of them.

Any tips from the pros or similar situations welcome!

I just found out I have less than 1cm cervix left at 23 weeks and am on bed rest. My shower was already scheduled earlier since I’m having twins I figured a little earlier the better. Since the bed rest I just cancelled the shower rather than try to mess with people’s schedules for a later one.  I also wasn’t sure how I’d feel if the babies were still in the NICU. Thought about a Sip and See but worried about if they were very premature that a lot of people over might not be advised? So I just said I’d love to have people visit once the babies are born healthy and are stable. Definitely a bummer, I’m pretty traditional and this would be my only shower theoretically, but as long as I can make it to 32 ish weeks with these babies in me I really don’t care! :)
