Making the Best of Bed Rest / Re: Roll Call for Monday April 11th

Hi mommies!!  Thought I'd drop by to see how everyone is doing!!!  Wow, I see there are a lot of newbies since I registered back in December!  It's really great to see!  This forum helped me SOOOO much during my days in bedrest (2 of the 4 months in the hospital) that I will forever be so grateful!!!   Our little man, Julius, is doing wonderful!!  He's already 22 days and growing at such a fast rate!!  I held his 37 wks and 3 days and he was perfect!!  I know it's so hard to see past one day many times, but ladies, pls. know that the feeling is amazing once you've gone through so much sacrafice, and your little one is in your arms at the end - priceless.

mcoygirl - Congrats on 28 wks!!!  It was so nice to hear you made it to such an important goal - especially with twins!!!!!!  You are measuring so much girl!!  Are you sure you're 28 wks!!!

As always ladies, lots of strength and patience to all the mommies in the forum!!

Making the Best of Bed Rest / Re: Roll Call for Monday March 28th

I have such a wonderful excuse not to have checked in on time - JULIUS WAS BORN ON MARCH 22!!!!  I was 37wks, 3 days!  I had a docs. apt. the day after roll call on March 21, and when doc. checked, I was 6 cm dialated and he was very low, so the doc. told me he felt it was time, and I was more than ready to meet my little man.  Needless to say, I pushed 5 or 6 times, and he was out!!  The L&D nurse and my doctor had a bet going on.  At 2:35pm the LD nurse said the baby would be out by 3:00pm, and doctor thought it would take a bit longer.  The bet was the doctor would buy us all icecream if the LD nurse was right.  I pushed 3 times and the head was out!!!! In total I must've pushed 5 or 6 times.  The baby was out at 2:56pm and the doctor brought us all icecream after the delivery!  I am so blessed to have held him in for so long and was able to take him home with me after 2 days in hospital.  What a journey!!  I have to say, the 4 months in bedrest (2 in hospital bed rest) definitely took a toll on me physically - more than I imagined.  I still can't carry my 21 month old daughter, and I can't walk too long before getting winded. Thankfully my husband stayed home with me one weeks and a half, and my mother comes in the mornings to help with my 21 month daughter.  My daughter has been so good considering she's so young.  She'll walk by me and give him a and I a kiss.  She'll do this many times in a day.  I hope she continues being such a trooper about having a baby brother.

Ladies, there are no words to describe how grateful I am to have held him in for as long as i did - Keep those legs up and know that everything will be okay if you continue doing so.  Remember, bedrest is temporary, and before you know it, the time will come.  Cry when you need to, bitch if you have to, vent when you need to vent, but always keep your faith and those legs up.

I'm so happy to have found this forum and will be forever grateful.  Angela, thank you for doing such a wonderful thing!!
I plan to check in every once in a while to see how all the mommies and doing!!
As always, lots of strength and patience.

lanespoli - i know what you mean about your hands.  The joints in my hand are killing me - to the point where i can't make a fist and it only seems to be getting worse.  Nights are also tougher for me than the morning and rest of the day.  I almost found myself going to L&D last night because contractions were about 20 minutes apart and i decided to get-up very early and lay in the couch to continue timing the contractions for another hr., and I don't know if it was because it was early morning or because it was the couch vs. my bed, the contractions extended to every hr. to hr. and a half, so i decided not to go to L&D.

Hello ladies!!!  I'm now 37 wks 2 days.  I had a docs apt. on frid. and found that i'm 4 cms dial. and, of course 100% effaced ( have been since 22 wks). The docs. thought the baby was breeched and were schedulig a c section for this tues, but did an u/s and found he was facing down - thank GOD.  I really am hoping for vaginal delivery.  The doc. wants to see me tomorrow at 9:30am so lets see where i stand and what happens.  I'm going into my 16th week on bedrest (4 months, unbelievable) and am exhausted beyond words.

mckoygirl - congrats on a negative ffn - that should bring some ease of mind.

arenee22 - I found my BH contractions  more and more painful the further along i was. The good thing is that your contractions are not causing dialation and that's always great news.

Allison - Welcome!  This forum helps beyond words - i'm really glad you found it!  Keep your legs up and don't pick-up your 23 month old - I have a 21 month old and i haven't picked her up for 4 months now.  I know it's really difficult, but remember it is only temporary.  Soon you'll be up with all your family.

As always, praying for lots of strength and patience to all the mommies on bedrest.

mckoygirl - thank you for all the detailed and helpful information!  After that explanation, i'll just continue going with the flow an see where  i stand on tomorrows apt.  I'm feeling pressure down there now along with stronger contractions every about 30 minutes to 1 hr., which makes me think that i've probably dialated more since friday - we'll see tomorrow.  I'm gonna dare ask them about stripping my memmbrane to see what they say.  Omgoodness, this waiting game is difficult to figure out sometimes.
Thanks again for all the information!!  I'll keep you posted.

I'm glad my story brought some inspiration to you.  Just keep doing what you're doing and keep having positive thoughts about staying pregnant as long as possible.  I know 40 wks would be ideal, but remember full-term is considered as of 37 wks. - no nicu!!

mckoygirl - Thank you for the encouraging words and am so glad i have been an inspiration to you!!   I know exactly what you mean about getting winded for merely by changing positions in bed.  I find myself winded by talking - my heart strarts pumping so fast.  Girl, congratulations on the babies being viable!!!  I remember you mentioning not imagining time going by and reaching viability when you were just 17 or 18 wks, and look - you did it!  Isn't it amazing how time passes.  Keep doing what you're doing.
I went to my docs apt. yesterday and i'm 4 cm dialated, he has a good position, and I am now 37 wks.  They want to induce me if i'm still pregnant by March 30, but i wanted to ask you, if i don't go into labor sooner, isn't that a long time to be pregnant with that much dialation considering that i've been 100% efaced since 22 wks?  I have another apt. on tuesday the 22nd and I almost want to ask them to induce me then, on this tuesday.  I'm just worried about infection affecting the baby, but i really don't know how infections work b/c i've been open for so long and thank GOD never had an infection.  In reality, i don't know if i'll hold until tuesday,  I'm now getting strong contractions 1 every hr more or less, but i don't know if this is enough to go into labor on my own.  I ask because i now you have your experience as an LD nurse and know much more than I could possibly know.

No matter how supportive they are they can't know exactly how we feel.  I had my first outing yesterday to my docs. office after 4 months in bedrest and I felt SO tired and full of aches and pains.  As we were walking around the hospital I found myself grunting and just plain exhausted and I told my husband, if only you could be in my body for 5 minutes to experience how i feel.  He looked at me with a face like saying, no spare me.

Silvereyez - I had a possitive ffn at 28 weeks and am now 36 wk 5 days and still cooking.  The ffn test is more effective when the result is negative, but if positive, it's not as effective - Possible that you may go into labor soon, but not certain.  Keep your feet up as much as possible.

Hi Ladies!!  I'm sorry for taking so long to check-in.  After reading all your posts I have to say, I've cried, smiled, and felt SO PROUD of all of us.  We have come such a long way, and am so grateful for that.  To all the mommies that are going through rough patches, hang in there.  I know how hard it could be when one is going through tough times in the moment, but always know that it will pass.
As for me, I am 36 wks 5 days and have been 100% effaced (non-measurable cervix) and dial. since I was 22 wks preggers.  I can't belive he's still cooking!!  He is good!  I tell my husband - the exit has been completely open for months and he's had no interest is exiting!  Oh, and a positive ffn result at 28 wks!!  As my husband told me, GOD's hand has held him in this long!!    I'm still at my mothers home and have been here 1 month and a week already after a long 2 month stay at the hospital and a 2 week bed rest at my home.  I got my last p17 shot on monday.   My doctor was coming to my mom's home to see me every Sat., which i am so grateful for since they don't go to patients homes, but made an exception for me.  Since he can't make it this weekend, he asked me to go to office tomorrow.  It'll be my first outing in almost 4 months and I am freaking-out!    I'm trying to walk a little more to see if i get some strength and energy, but it's been so hard for me.  I get SO tired just walking short distances, I can't imaging walking to docs. office from car and then to the building next door for an ultrasound.  The good thing is that it's next to the hospital, so if anything happens, i'm there.  I'm getting stronger contractions more spread apart, but i guess not enough to provoke labor.  I'm really looking forward to seeing the little one in the u/s tomorrow!
As always lots of strength and patience to all the mommies in bedrest.

Welcome to all the new mommies on bedrest!!  Remember to share, and vent as many times as you need to through this website.  It truly has helped me when I've needed it the most.

Yvonne- Congrats on 36 wks!!!

I'm 35 wks 3 days and still cookin!  Happy to still be at home for bedrest and not in the hospital.  I've been home (well, my moms since it's closer to hospital) for 3 wks, 3 days.  The doctor comes every Sat. to see me at home.  Isn't that amazing?!! It's not something the practice does, but i guess they have a soft spot for me after being in hospital bedrest for 2 months.  I'll get my last p17 shot on Monday and if he's still cookin by March 28th, 38 wks, i'll get induced.
I can't believe time is actually going by.  For sooooo many wks i thought the time would not pass, and now i'm actually seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

Lots of strength and patience to all the mommies in bedrest.
