Making the Best of Bed Rest / Re: Roll Call for Jan. 3, 2011

Happy New Year everyone! I'm 21w5d and on friday at 22w i get admitted to hospital. i'm trying to think of it as a break from the house and a break for my husband who has to work and look after me and the house. I'm no stranger to long hospital stays so I know what to expect but i'm really hoping the time goes fast. at 24 weeks they'll start me on steroids. we found out at the 20w ultrasound the twins are a boy and girl. i want them so much! my cervix has lengthened from 1.5 to 2.2 in 3 weeks and I'm praying it keeps getting longer.

Cngrats to everyone on making another week and i hope we all get to hold our own beautiful healthy normal babies in the coming months

take care xo

I know xactly how you feel! I'm 20 weeks and have been on  bed rest since 17. It is so hard but each day does actually get easier. I'm a control freak so losing control of my home is awful. we are so lucky to have such amazing husbands and support. I'm just a bit sick of people telling me to enjoy doing nothing because when my twins arrive i'll be busy!!... i want to be busy!! this is my first pregnancy and i feel so robbed of the experience but we have been blessed with these babies and we have to do whatever it takes to get them here healthy and safe. knowing this is a common thing also helps. i wish you all the best and hope we all get through this. strength in numbers!!

Hi Paola, I'm on my third week of bed rest now and god willing I'll get through another ten at least. I pass the time by:

-reading
-crosswords
-nintendo ds brain and vision training
tv/nternet
-and a lot of staring into space feeling sorry for myself and worrying  :'(

finding this site has helped a lot.

i wish you and everone on here the best of luck xo

Thanks Jaqe, it's nice to hear from someone in the same boat. how many weeks are you? are you in hospital. they won't admit me until i get to 22 weeks. i know home is more comfortable but i will feel so much safer in hospital. our old slow laptop is a lifesaver. i read, watch tv which i find boring, do crosswords and nintendo ds rain and vision training but i'm so restless to get out and walk in the fresh air. i've only been on bedrest for two weeks and knowng there's another 20 weeks with no guarantees is so heartbreaking.
what is the best position? everything hurts! knees up or down???
best wishes to you xo

Hi, I live in Australia, I'm 36 and 19 weeks pregant with twins but on bed rest as my cevix has gone from 3.7cm to just 1.5 in three weeks. I've already had 3 miscarriages at 6 weeks and thought i was finally in the clear but this new obstacle is really challenging me. Also, 2 years ago exctly today I was in ICU fighting for my life from a brain hemorrage and stroke. i spent 2 months in a hospital bed. i thought nothing could ever be worse. Now i'm fighting for my babies lives hoping i can make it through 3-4 more months on bedrest. i'm on progesterone suppositories and everytime i get up to pee i'm scared i'll harm my babies. any advice or reassuring success stories??
