Making the Best of Bed Rest / Re: Roll Call for Monday February 14th

Hi ladies - wow, sounds like everyone is really progressing along -good job!

Reagan - oh my!  keep us potsed and good luck to you!!

As for me, I hit 29 weeks on Sunday (6 weeks hospital BR).  It has been a tough week for us.  My contractions increased Sunday night and my terb pump bolises weren't helping.  They sent me to L&D for 48 hrs for magnesium sulfate and now I'm back in my antepartum room.  Terb pump is now controlling my contractions again.   I'm just happy baby is still in there cooking.   Oh, and through it all my cervix length maintained!!

We passed my 1st baby's gest age today!!  29/4 days.

I am on hospital bedrest and had the same question.  I have been able to do arm exercises with a band, but when I asked about leg exercises my doc advised no in my case. I am having contractions and they worry about my cervix length changing.  He said he wanted to avoid any pressure on my cervix and leg exercises could cause pressure.  Boy will I be motivated to workout after all of this!

Hi there!  I am on hospital bedrest too - 6 weeks now.   Mine is for contractions and previous PT birth.  My daughter was born at 29 weeks and she is now 2 yrs old - same age as your little one!  I can relate to how tough it can be to be away from your child and trying to work out care arrangements.  I try to make her hospital visits as fun as possible.  I have coloring books, crayons, stickers, snacks, etc here for her.  Although I am in for a different reason, I know how scary it can be knowing things can change at any minute.  However, it is reassuring to have the docs and nurses right there monitoring you and adjusting things as needed.   As much as HBR stinks, at least that constant care gives you some peace of mind.  It can be an up and down emotional rollercoaster, so hang in there and feel free to vent along with share your milestones here!!  You've already hit a huge milestone passing by your 1st baby's gest. age!!  Take care!

Hello-

28 weeks!   On hospital bedrest 5 weeks now.

Cervix is staying the same (yea!) and contractions are the same (meds are keeping them under control)  I'm a little anxious because my daughter was born at 29 weeks and we are getting closer to that time.  I have hospital BR and medicine this time (plus docs and nurse right here) so staying confident we can make it many, many more weeks.

Great job everyone!  A warm welcome to those of you that are new  :)

U/S was good this morning.  My cervix actually grew by .1!  The doctors were pleased and I was relieved that it's maintaining.

It really does help to know that I am not alone!  I really try to work on pushing those negative thoughts out of my head when I'm having a bad day.  You're right, this is temporary and we will get throught it!!

My contractions are really irregular.  I have anywhere between 2-4/hr.  I can go 20 minutes with none and then have 2 that are 10 min apart, and then a half hour with none!  The doctors have set a threshold for me at 4/hr. They don't like to see more than that for me.

It doesn't sound like yours are much more than BH, especially if the docs are not worried.  I recall my doc telling me that most women do contract during pregnancy, but they don't know it (not as frequent as me though!) I guess like BH.   He also told me that can increase as you get further into 3rd T.    And yes, I know having a full bladder or staying in one position makes me contract, so I'm sure it increases BHs.

As I say to myself sometimes, well, if the doctor isn't worried, then I won't worry :)  It's so nice to have the doc, nurses and monitor right there to ease our concerns. Hang in there and let me know how you feel the rest of this week.

I have a dynamic cervix.  Yep, it can shorten and lengthen.   Fortunatley, my cervix length went back up a couple weeks ago and has actually stablized for now (it even went up by .1 @ today's u/s!)   My doctors believe me being on BR is taking the pressure off my cervix. However, I have a history of PTL and am contracting, so that contributes to the decison to keep me on HBR.

Hello Ladies!

I am 27 weeks and have been on HBR for 4 weeks.

Had a good u/s today.  My cervix length is still looking good and we are so happy it is stablized for now.  My contractions increased a bit at the end of last week, so they increased the settings on my terb pump (which we had been expecting).  Doctors are happy with my cervix length and told me to continue the good job on BR, so that is encouraging!

Prayers and hugs to everyone!!!

Elizabeth- Good luck with your u/s and keep us posted.  Happy to hear you are still baking away!!

My contractions increased a bit this week (which was expected), so they increased my terb pump.  It seems to have helped.  Otherwise, waiting to see how my cervix length looks at Monday's u/s.  Was kind of up and down emotionally this week, but had lots of visitors over the weekend which lifted my spirits.

Will be thining of you on Tuesday - keep us posted.

Elizabeth - just thinking about you and wondered how you are doing this week?
