Making the Best of Bed Rest / Re: Monday Roll Call for March 14
« on: March 17, 2011 at 09:00 PM »
Hey Ladies!

I have a great reason for being late for checkin!

Our Twin boys were born on Sunday, March 13th!

It was a quick labor and delivery, as I expected it would be when it happened since I had been on Bed rest with the magical disappearing cervix since 28 weeks.

We were 37 weeks - on the nose!  My waters ruptured at 5:30 in the morning and the boys were born vaginally only a few hours later in the hospital.

The really neat thing about my hospital post natal stay is that my room was right next door to where the pregnant ladies were resting!  I went out of my way to meet each of them and tell them how amazing they were. I even told them about this site, so hopefully we will see them hanging around these parts sometime soon.

Anyways, without further ado, introducing...

Andrew Joseph
Born at 8:42am - March 13th, 2011 - 5lb 2 oz

&

Alexander Robert
Born at 9:02 - March 13th, 2011 - 4lb 12oz

Thank you all for the support you offered and the sense of community we shared over my time on Bed rest.  You are all amazing!

Hello folks!

I reached my final goal when we clocked over to 36 this past Sunday!  HOORAY!!!

My twin Boys are obviously still cooking and I am starting to feel the anticipation.  As of last Thursday our OB says the boys are doing biophysically well (heart rates and blood flow from their placenta).  We have another appointment to be checked out this Thurday to check the boys' growth and biophysical progress...  We'll also set a date for my 38th week for induction, just in case the boys decide they are comfy and decide not to join us on their own time.

I get lots of contractions - sometimes organized, sometimes not...They still are not quite ready to join us quite yet.  I keep telling myself that they'll be born just when they are ready and not a minute sooner.

I will keep you in the loop!

Congrats Reagan on the birth of your precious little girl.  I bet she's amazing :)

Welcome new bedresters!  This is an amazing group of supportive people!

Have a great rest of the week folks.

Hey Ladies-

Another week passed!  We are 35 weeks now and had my growth an and cervix ultrasound this past thursday.

My cervix is practically immeasurable and baby A is so low in my pelvis that I worry that I am squishing his little noggin.

My contractions seem to start up get organized then after a bunch of hours - die off - never getting any more forceful.  It makes it difficult to know what is going on with these babies.  My OB tells me that if the boys don't come by 37 weeks on their own - they will schedule me for induction at 38 weeks.

I have a hot date with my best girlfriend for some girl-time tomorrow and a biophysical ultrasound this thursday to check the boys out.  I am looking forward to both these things :)

Have a great week everyone & Reganah - have an amazing birthing day!  Great work!

Welcome!  ;D

You are rocking the Bed Rest thing for sure!  4 weeks into it, eh?  Great Job!  I've been resting for more than 6 weeks now and it has been challenging.  THere are good days and bad days  - it almost seems some days like the pregnancy hormones are 10fold because of the rest!

I love the food network too!  Do you have a favorite show?  Least favorite?  One of the chefs that you love or one that makes you nuts?

I hope today is a good day for both of us!

Take care,

Yvonne

The life of a Bed Rest Mom is no Cake walk, that is for certain!

You've made it to 34 weeks!  That is amazing!  I am 34 weeks too and have had an uber challenging week, so I can relate with your stress a bit even though my situation is different than yours.

Keep on cookin' that baby boy!  When he is born healthy strong and wonderful, you won't regret one second of the sacrifice you are making.

You ROCK!

WoW!  30 Weeks, and so many of them spent in the hospital, not to mention the 4 kids you have at home!  You might be my hero for taking such good care of that baby bun you have cooking  ;D  Resting at home with 2 busy children is hard enough, but holy smokes, I can only imagine.

I'm glad you found this forum to share your highs and lows.  The women here are supportive and amazing.  Some have been through the same or similar situation as you, some quite different than what you've been through - but everyone is kind, positive and caring.

Keep taking care.

Yvonne

Goodmorning all -

I'm still here :)  I made it to 34 weeks!  6 weeks into bedrest at home.  I have my next Ultrasound/ Cervix check/ OB appointment on Thursday afternoon.  That means that I have now reached 3 milestone goals!  Yay Me!  Yay Babies!

This past week has been a tough one and I must admit, not as restful as it probably should have been.  My 3yo Emily had a nasty virus with fever so was home with me for a few days instead of in daycare.  Then on Friday my older Daughter, Alannah, had dental work done under general anesthesia ( certainly the hardest thing I've ever had to go through as a mom) and has had a really hard time recovering from it (mostly really raw throat from intubation - won't/ can't eat).  To top it off Alannah also caught Emily's Virus and now I think she may have an ear infection...It was also a holiday yesterday (Family Day in Ontario) so that made me busy with a sucky-needs-her-mommy 6 year old and a needs-attention-and energy-burning-activities 3 year old.  Anyways, both girls are home with me again today and Daddy is at work.

SOOOO, I have set my newest goal to survive today without going into labour or causing my body too many aches and pains.  So far these baby boys seem content to stay where they are despite the fact that my Cervix is ready to go anytime :)

Maybe I'll work on choosing my attitude today - a positive one may make the day nicer for everyone in my house.

Congrats TNTmom on the arrival of your precious bundle - well done - and Regan - hang in there...that babe will join the world at just the right time!

Have a great week Ladies!

I think that being on bed rest makes us hypersensitive to every little tweak our bodies feel.  That's what I do, I sit around all day thinking "oh,my!  What was that _______________(fill in in the blank)..." and in honesty I am never certain if I am treating my "tweaks" as seriously as I ought to be.

Reagahn, I'm sorry your 'tweak' is causing you so much trouble.  I really do understand how distressing these strange mystery pains can be.

Yvonne.

The words my doctor used were ". We'll be thrilled if you make it to 34 weeks.  If you make it to 36 weeks, we'll do a happy dance".

Given, we are expecting twins, so perhaps that changes the situation a little...I'll have to remember to ask if they will try to stop labour after 34 weeks at my next appointment.

hey mamas!

Well we've hit another goal this week- 32 weeks!  That puts us at 4 weeks resting:)

Just got back from our ultrasound and the boys are weighing in at 3lb7oz each :).
My cervix is thinned out from 1.4cm 2 weeks ago to 4mm this week...pretty sure we lost at least part of the mucus plug this week so I'm really working hard at resting, not wanting to tempt fate.
Next goal is 34 weeks!
All you momas keep up the good work!

Good morning roll call mommies!

I am 31 weeks yesterday cooking twin boys :). II am happy to say that I am feeling positive with this start of a new week.  I have no appointments or commitments this week, so it should be a quiet one...

At the end of last week I really started to feel bored and stir crazy.  I am starting week 4 on home bed rest and have run out of tv shows to catch up on...any one out there have suggestions for great tv series, or movies they've seen lately?  We watched Secretariat and Red this weekend and thoroughly enjoyed both.

There are at least 3 of us on here that are 31 weeks along this week which is kinda fun!  Last week at roll call there were a few mommies that thought they were getting pretty close to having their babies - Can't wait for the updates!

Keep up the great work mommies!

Yvonne

I totally worry about that, amongst every thing else  ;).  Emotionally and physically I will be liberateby joyful and proud with the birth of my boys - but will my bed rested body and lazy days routine be able to keep up the demands of my new back to full capacity now mommy of four life...yikes!  Yup, a little nerve wracking  :-\

I'm excited about this roll call and happy to report that we have reached bed rest goal number 1 - 30 weeks and stay outta the hospital.

We had an ultrasound yesterday and our identical twin boys are growing well and are right on track.  My cervix has thinned out som more from 2cm to 1.4cm.  Since I've no pre term labour symptoms they are gonna let me keep resting at home...hooray!

Gonna keep em cookin come hell or high water!  Next goal 32 weeks :)

By the sounds of it we may have a few announcements in the next week or so,  good luck evey one!
