What's Your Story? Tell us. / Re: Emergency cerclage
« on: February 23, 2019 at 10:58 AM »
I haven’t been on this forum in 5 years, but came on just to respond to you, sweet mama.

My little miracle cerclage baby just turned 8 in January! EIGHT! Time seriously flies. I was diagnosed w IC at 20 weeks, dilated to a 4, 80% effaced w bulging membranes. One doc said there was no hope, so I got another opinion. The high risk specialist said “I can get in a cerclage but there are no guarantees. This is bad.” After the cerclage I spent 4 weeks at home on bedrest moving only to use the bathroom. At 24 weeks I was admitted for hospital bedrest where they said a. I was lucky to be because no one thought I’d make it that far and b. told me I’d be in labor within days. Well, I made it another 4 weeks before labor started. So my precious Kaleb was born at 28 weeks 0 days and we spent 74 days in the NICU.

I remember the fear and I remember the worry, but I also knew God was bigger than the circumstances, and that he had plans for my baby. ?? now here we are 8 years later and I have a 2nd grade. He’s reading at a 5th grade level, straight A student, plays guitar, loves church and school... he’s defied all odds his whole life, and your baby will too! Just hold onto hope, keep a positive outlook, and dont Google too much. Hang in there!!

PS me and my crappy cervix also went on to a twin pregnancy (that was wild) and they were born at 35 weeks.

Still here! Still cookin! I'm officially off bedrest, but really not able to be super mobile. I did get out a little this wknd which was nice. It was really great to spend what might be one of the last wknds as a fam of 3 with my 2 boys. I am cherishing these moments before our lives are turned upside down. One downside to being "off" bedrest is our babysitting help is quickly falling off. So today I'm home alone w Kaleb and just trying to stay sitting or laying as much as I can.

I'll be 35 weeks on Wed! Family is coming to our house for Thanksgiving so we can be near the hospital just in case. Dec 4 is cerclage removal day, and probably go time. Can't believe we made it this far! Just still so overwhelmed w gratefulness to God. We get to meet our boys soon! Can't wait!

34 weeks on Wednesday!! Babies are big and active and I am excited to be adding more activity w each passing week. It's really hard to get around, but I hope I'm gaining some muscle back after 14 weeks of bedrest. In 2 weeks and 2 days they will take out my cerclage.. then it's up to these boys! Can't wait to meet them and so happy we've made it SO far!

Noosa yogurt is a bedrest fave! I ask for a Starbucks latte from time to time as a special treat. Sandwiches (any and all) are a go to for me. Little chocolate donuts are another treat for me. I don't let myself eat those under any other circumstances bc they're so fattening! But they have been nice every once in awhile on bedrest! The weight loss after this is all over should be interesting!

I hope I'm not the only one still here! ;) 33 weeks w my twins on Wed and still cooking!! It really is wild to be this far along. I really didn't think we'd make it this far, but I'm so incredibly grateful that we are.

Doc appt was last Wed for a 32 week checkup. Our boys are both over 4 pounds!! That was the most amazing news! My cervix is still hanging in and my doc really feels the pessary has made all the difference. I am SO glad I pushed for that intervention! She wants me completely off bedrest at 34 weeks and cerclage/pessary out at 36. Not sure how functional I'd be off bedrest, so I think ill prob stay on at least modified rest. But in about 3 weeks we'll be just waiting to go into labor! I can hardly believe it!!

Keep the faith ladies. Anything is possible! No cervix since 24 weeks w twins and now planning for cerclage removal. Amazing! Hope you all are well!

Lots of twin mamas here today! I'm almost 32 weeks w my twin boys and still cooking! I'm SO happy to still be hanging in. My doc doesn't think I'll make 34 weeks, so I hope very much to prove her wrong! I have another appt on Wed so we'll see how things are holding up. The further I get the more anxious I am to get off bedrest. 12 weeks and I think I've hit a wall! Trying to stay strict until 34 at least.

Had my baby shower on Sat. It was so awesome to celebrate these boys and have some real adult interaction. I got to get dressed up and felt human for a bit! I definitely paid for it on Sat night - so. much. pain. But it was worth it.

Glad to see you all are well. Here's to a great week!

31 weeks on Wed!! I think it's starting to get really real that these baby boys could be making an appearance at any time now.

I was in L&D last Tues for non stop contractions. They were little ones, but way too frequent for comfort. Luckily some IV fluids knocked them out and I was sent home. Cervix looked the same - .7ish cm of mushy cervix and dilated to 1cm. Babies are looking good and both are HEAD DOWN! We are going to attempt a vaginal delivery if the boys remain this way. Praying they stay as I really don't want a csection.

Saturday is my baby shower! The goal is to still be pregnant as we celebrate these little guys. I'm excited to be out of bed for a bit. I haven't done anything except for doc appts since 20 weeks, so this will be nice!

Hope you all have a good week! Congrats to all the ladies w full term deliveries! I hope to join you in a few weeks!

PS your Grandma was a genius, Angela. Is this the same Grandma w the quote about not pulling out your umbrella until it's actually raining? I use that quote often. Love it!

30 weeks on Wed!!! HUGE milestone to be in the 30s! I hope I get to hang out there for awhile. The more days that pass, the less NICU time and that makes me SO happy. These boys are getting huge, I am constantly being beat up from the inside. When they stretch out, I lose my breath and can see my belly contort in all kinds of crazy ways. It's getting harder to move too as I am getting to be all tummy. I think I need a wheelbarrow to lug it around ;) It's crazy to be this pregnant! I love it and try to be grateful and not dwell on the discomfort.

My husband's birthday is Thursday and also a 30 week checkup. Excited to see the boys and maybe stop for a celebratory milkshake on the way home. Counting down to 32 weeks and then 34! My doc wants me off bedrest by 34, so I'm supposed to start moving around more at 32. We'll see. I don't want to do too much and risk not getting to 34!

Hope everyone is well! Have a great week!

29 weeks on Wed!! It feels SO amazing to be this far along w no end in sight! Doctor appt last Wed went well. Our babies are measuring 2lb 8oz and 2lb 10 oz which is bigger than their brother who was born at 28w! My doc felt I would easily make it to 32 weeks, but prob not 34 bc of my history and typical early delivery of twins. I'd love to prove her wrong! I pulled the trigger on my baby shower this week and my goal is to still be pregnant when it rolls around on Nov 2. I'll be 31w4d at the shower. No plans this week, just making it through my 9th week of bedrest! Have a great week everyone!

Still here and still cookin! 28 weeks on Wed and SO excited for that milestone. As of 8:37a on Wed I'll be more pregnant than I've ever been! And with twins to boot! God is good! 28wk appt and growth scan on Wed. Excited to see my babies and praying not to see or hear about my cervix!

I have a snacks bin near my bed so I can grab something on my way back from the bathroom. The toddler squeezy applesauce is perfect for bedrest. Raisins, granola bars, peanuts, dried fruit etc. No meals are very easy to eat in bed, but having sandwiches premade is a good idea for lunches. Fruit and veggies cut up and put in baggies are good and easy to grab. String cheese is always a good go to. I'm sure I have more suggestions if you need them...

Happy Monday!

Hey hey!! Welcome October!! I am SO glad Sept flew by as Aug seems to drag on and on. Still cooking at almost 27 weeks w twin boys and no cervix! Doc appt last Friday and she checked the babies, but left my cervix alone!! I was so excited. She said since I'm stable w no changes in discharge or bleeding etc, she felt comfortable not checking and just keeping an eye out for PTL. Next appt at 28 weeks (next Wed). Next Wed I'll be more pregnant than I've ever been! AMAZING!

I'm here! WOOP! 25w5d and still plugging away. Pretty laid back week. Just normal aches and pains and only a few "is this BH or real contractions?" episodes. I've decided that if I wake up feeling good and still pregnant, it doesn't matter what weird stuff I felt the day before. 26w appt on Friday so we'll see how things are holding up. Praying I don't end up in the hospital. 16 days to 28 weeks! Have a great week ladies!

Heyyyyy ladies! Almost 25 weeks (YES) and had a pretty good week, aside from the 48hr hospital stay. Went in for my 24 week visit and the docs found funneling through my stitch. I have about .7cm of cervix left and she described it as "mushy." My cervix is still closed thanks to the cerclage, but doc said she could get a fingertip in if she wanted... I was like, please don't try! So I was admitted to the hospital for steroid shots and monitored for labor. No contractions, leaking or bleeding so after the steroid shots I was sent home to continue bedrest. My doc said its now just a waiting game. My DS came after 8 wks of bedrest and zero cervix, so who knows how long I'll last. Still really hopeful to get to 32+! 7 more weeks... 55 more days!
