Mimisid congrats on making it to 36!!! My ultimate gestational goal!!! I remember when i started being in this forum and you were in your late 20's. I am sorry to hear about baby not gaining weight but hopefully either they were not able to scan right or it is just off. Pls do keep us posted on ur next appt with ur doc. I am 32 weeks tmrw and will be seeing my mfm tmrw for follow up. Praying my cervix is stable and well behaved so i can stay preggo for 4 more weeks. I think i will buy baby's stroller travel system this week. Debating between chicco bravo or britax b agile...but dreaming of husband thinks its cray cray to get a stokke! A momma can only dream....

Hello all! Wow already fast yet feels like the days are still slow.  I have been on bedrest since August 2nd. I was in hospital for 7 1/2 weeks and now continuing bedrest at home. I am currently 31.4 weeks. Looking forward to thursday when i will be 32 weeks and will also have an appt with my MFM. I hope and pray things are still stable and that they dont send me back to the hospital. My belly is so big that it is so hard for me to get up and move side to side. My sleep is non existence! I dont see any stretch marks yet and my navel has not popped out yet...i wonder if it will ever. I am curious when my docs are going to take my cerclage out. Before i was admitted to the hospital we talked about 37 weeks, i wonder if thays still the case.

My bedrest at home has not been so strict...although i lay most of the time but i am up on my wheelchair for at least 1 hour a day...give and take going to different rooms to lay at, getting food in kitchen, and eating. Yesterday i made waffles and eggs for breakfast while on my wheelchair and my mom assisting me. It was pretty challenging but i did it! I was exhausted after that. I ate and took a nap for 3 hours. Oh how i missed cooking.

Blossominspring: congrats on reaching the big milestone of 28 weeks! My hubs has been keeping himself busy with work and training kids for boxing. I told him he can do whatever he wants right now since i am on bedrest but when baby comes he will have to slow down.

Kayruss congratulations on your baby boy. I am happy that he is doing great and breathing on his own at 26 weeks! What a miracle!!! Thoughts and prayers for your baby.

Hi sk2016! I was also admitted at 22.5 weeks due to my cervix shortening and funneling even after a cerclage. I am now 31.2 weeks and was sent home 1 day shy of 30 weeks. Im sure it is tougher for u to be in hospital because u have little ones at home. But just think of this as temporary and ya'll will be complete again soon. I had some bad days and good days while in hospital bedrest. When negative emotions does come, i start to pray to God to take all my anxiety and fears away which helped me a lot. The longer u keep the baby cookin the better the outcome. Stay positive.

@stillexpecting: im sure it is hard being on bedrest when you already have a little one to take care of. My only suggestion is to stay off your feet as much as possible. If you can get help with your baby, accept it. CL of 2.0 is still great compare to some of us here. My cervix went all the way down to .56cm with funneling at 22.5 weeks. I was admitted to the hospital and stayed there for almost 8 weeks. I was only ordered for modified but i made my bedrest strict. I only did sponge bath in bed until i reached 26 weeks, used bedside commode for both business, ate laying down, and stayed in tredelenberg 90-95% of the time. I eased up after i reached 28 weeks-i allowed myself to use #2 in the rest room and a full shower once a week. I do quick 5 mins body wash every other day. I was very serious with my bedrest. I am now 30 weeks was sent home last week due to my u/s showed "improvement" with my cervix...what kind of improvement, i dont know. Im kinda glad i dont know the numbers or details cause i will probably end up googling and get more worried. All i know is that it has improved and tha i was able to go home. Bedrest is tough but i trusted God and I prayed hard. Days will be slow but weeks will fly by.

Hello All! I am now 30 weeks and 4 days. Been on strict bedrest since 22.5 weeks. I was just released to home last week from my 7 1/2 weeks stay in the hospital after finding out that even after cerclage at 13 weeks my cervix was funneling to the stitch and went down to .56cm. I am finally home but still continuing my bedrest. I have a wheelchair, shower chair, and a bedside commode. My mom is staying with us to assist me. She has been a huge help! I will be following up with my OB weekly. My days being at home has been a lot faster. I will be 31 weeks on thursday and praying hard to make it at 36 weeks God willing.

@Kayruss: im glad you are adjusting well in hospital. I used to always look forward to the NST which they did 2x a day. I never did tour the NICU-i just was not interested and i was such in emotional state that it may make it worse. You are in good hands. Stay positive. Weeks will fly by. Keep us posted. I will be praying for you and baby.

@msjlow12: 25 weeks tmrw yay!!  The same as you, when my docs made rounds they asked me if i was comfortable laying down and sleeping t-berg and i would say back hurts but its nothing that i cant handle. They never told me to stop and just left me alone with that decision. I believe me being on t berg 90-95% of the time improved my cervix thats why i got sent home 1 week early. Since i cant do tberg at home, i have a pillow instead only during the day, i now sleep flat.

@blossominspring: 28 weeks milestone is a big deal! It sure did go fast for me. Next thing u know you'll be in your 30's. I live in Texas and it still HOT! i cant wait for winter to come. Im also looking forward to my doc appt on wednesday. I think im going to stay laying in the backseat on the way to the docs office since the drive takes 40 mins.

@blossominspring hope you and baby are doing well in the hospital. Sending you positive vibes. Drink plenty of water. Are you using bedside commode or pan? Also, hospital bed is much easier to adjust to tredelenberg position. I was 95% on that position while i was there for 2 months. I think that may have made my cervix "improved" as what my MFM said yesterday before sending me home. Hang in there. We are here for you.

Today is my first day home. So weird being home now that i am used to my hospital schedule. My husband bought a wheelchair and a bedside commode for me to use. My mom is picking up a shower chair as i type this. Ohhh leaving my husband for 2months did not do good for the house either!!! I cant worry about that now. Im just glad to be home to continue bedrest-this still means really good shower only once a week. I may think about 2 showers a week at 32 we will see.

Msjlow12 congratulations on making it to your 1st goal! I know how you feel when docs are telling you your odds and viability blah can bring you down. BUT you proved them wrong! Look at you 3 weeks later and still holding on. Just like you, i left all my worries to God and kept faith that he did not bring me this far to abandon me. Being on bedrest brought me closer to God. The last time they did u/s on me was at 28.6 weeks. My baby's head was really low that the tech could not even get a good pic of him....when i mean low, she had to pull my undies down to do the scanning. My cerclage is the only thing thats holding him. I pray everyday for all of us ladies here to have a healthy baby at the end of all this.

Hello ladies! Im 29.5 weeks today. I cant wait to reach my 30's. Ive been in hospital bedrest x7weeks already and i am so ready to get out of here. I dont even know what outside looks like. My MFM said i can go home at 32 weeks God willing to continue my strict bedrest. I will be following up with my OB weekly though. Last saturday for some reason i started to feel dizzy, room spinning, and with vomiting so they stopped my Procardia and it subsided. The next day my NST are showing contractions that i am not even feeling but throughout the day i was feeling mild cramp like sensation. So my Docs put me back on Procardia again this time instead of every 6 hrs they changed it to every 8hrs. So far thank God I am feeling fine. No dizziness, NST are good, no more cramps. I was feeling a bit down and emotional. My husband is such a trooper and supportive. He was encouraging me. I prayed a lot and i watched some inspirational sermon about faith...and i felt better.

@kayruss my docs has not measured my cervix since the day i was admitted at 22.5 weeks. Like ur docs they dont want to agitate it. So happy for you that u made it to 24 weeks. I was so happy when my baby turned 24 weeks...i even had a party in my room with balloons, cake, and ice cream.

@tsrouyer congrats on making it to 32 weeks! That is my next big goal. You are almost there. Your bedrest will be so quick you wont even remember it.

@jmomma i started feeling tightenings at 22 weeks just like you below my belly button. It would happen twice a day but only lasts for 3 to 5 seconds. My nurses said its BH so i was not worried plus it was not painful.

@blossominspring you are almost to your next milestone goal! I was so excited when i was approaching 28 weeks cause then the 30's was coming fast. I know how tough it is being in bedrest specially having a little one that u cannot play with. Just hang in there. You are blessed that u can do bedrest while at home and able to see ur family daily. You can do it!

Preterm Labor: Anything and Everything / Procardia side effects
« on: September 17, 2016 at 06:01 PM »
I've been in hospital bedrest since 22.5 weeks due to cervical insufficiency. Had a cerclage done at 13 weeks but started funneling to the stitch at 22.5 weeks. While in hospital, i have been taking procardia10mg every 6hours with no side effect. Today however (i am now 29.2 weeks), i started to feel dizzy like room is spinning and vomited my breakfast. Doc ordered to discontinue procardia until further notice. BP has always been low 100's over 60'-70's with procardia. I dont know if procardia is whats making me feel this way or what...i cant believe after taking it for almost 7 weeks i just now started this symptoms. Any idea????

@mimisid: i have not gone shopping at all. I have nothing for the baby right now. I do however have the travel system stroller and crib on my amazon cart-probably not even going to get it. I'll probably end up getting those at target. Ive also done amazon shopping and just been putting them on my wishlist. My hubs and I are going to wait before we buy any clothes since we dont know what size he will be-newborn or preemie. I told my hubs that if baby is able to go home with us right away then he is going to the store to buy baby essentials for the 1st week then I will take care of the rest of the shopping. If he is to stay in the hospital for being a preemie, then i will have time to shop for the baby.

Hello mommas! I am 28.4 weeks today. 6 weeks in hospital bedrest. Everyday i pray i make it to at least 36 weeks. Hopefully MFM will send me home in 2 weeks or at least when i reach 32 weeks God willing. I am excited to reach the 30's. A niece of my friend had her baby at 30 weeks this wknd, she did not need a cpap just nasal cannula. She is not even in an incubator! She did get a little jaundice in which they are putting her on bililight for a couple of days. She just needs to grow and learn to feed then she can go home. Her story inspired me this wknd.

Anywho...i cant wait to have my baby and show him off to everyone!! My husband and i travels a lot for business/leisure trip so my little one will be my buddy while hubby is doing his business stuff. I cant wait to take him to museums, zoos, and parks. I cant wait to take strolls with him around the neighborhood. I cant wait for him to start running around the house and me chasing after him. I cant wait to hear baby crying, baby laughing, baby talking, and baby making a mess in the house....

Hi SFnative93! I have been on hospital bedrest since 22.5 weeks and i am now 28.4 weeks. So i have been here going on 6 weeks tmrw due to my short cervix. My first week was tough and i was very emotional. Like you, i was unable to concentrate even reading gossip magazines! Docs were telling me how important it is to make it to 24 then when i reached 24 they said its important to reach 28 now im 28 they said never ending goal. So i take it day by day...days are slow but weeks go by fast. I have a big calendar on the wall with my weekly gestationàl age writtten every thursday and i mark an X every morning which encourages me to do the best i can on bedrest to keep this baby cooking longer. My mom is also staying with me in the hospital to keep me company. I keep a daily journal in which i write a little message to my baby and my husband. Im planning to give my journal to my husband for Christmas and he will give it to the baby when he gets older. Im watching a lot of netflix and vudu. I read-only when i get bored of watching too much netflix. I take naps to make my day go by faster. And since i am in the hospital nurses are in and out til midnight-so i make it to the point not to sleep til midnight and also i get excited when midnight comes cause thats another day to mark an x to my calendar. So thats my routine everyday. I am hoping i get to to go home in 2 weeks. Fingers crossed.
