Making the Best of Bed Rest / Re: Monday Roll Call for February 26, 2018

I'm 15+5 today as well. I have my first transvaginal u/s tomorrow to measure my cervical length, and depending on what it shows, make a game plan for a cerclage or not. I'm hoping for a good length, but think I might also have peace of mind with a cerclage. We'll see how it goes.

I just hate having the constant anxiety about how active I should be. I feel bad about taking it easy, but also feel bad when I do too much. It's just hard to have to even think about it, I just want to have a normal pregnancy! Or better yet, have a better attitude, although it's not bad that often, I just feel like I'm a burden to my family more or less.

My appointment went really well last week, I met with a new MFM who seemed extremely knowledgeable about PTL. I feel like I'm in good hands with him. The plan is to check my cervical length next week, then decide on a cerclage from there. He mentioned what the current research says about the effectiveness, so if my cervical length is below a certain length, we'll go for it. If not, I'm not sure what the game plan will be, other than the weekly progesterone shots.

I'm in that weird stage where I'm nervous because I can't feel the baby kick yet, so I'm constantly wondering if he/she is doing ok!

Hi all, I was here with my last pregnancy, when my cervix was found to be short at my 20 week scan. I was placed on pelvic rest, and given progesterone suppositories. My water ended up breaking right at 34 weeks, and I delivered my son at 34+1. He stayed 12 days in the NICU, but is doing great at 13 months now. He's had no issues, other than needing the CPAP for about 24 hours after birth, and then just staying in the NICU until he could regulate his body temperature and take his feeds from the breast and bottle.

I'm pregnant with #3 (4th pregnancy) and am 12 weeks. I have my first ultrasound in 4 days with MFM to figure out a game plan. I want to be sure I'm doing everything I possibly can with this pregnancy, so if anyone has suggestions of what to bring up to the doctor, that would be great! I will discuss a cerclage this time around, and unless they are really against it for some reason, my OB thought the risk was low enough this early on that it would seem like a good idea to get one. I will also start progesterone shots at 16 weeks.

Prayers to all of you growing those babies!

Hi ladies! I'm glad to see everyone hanging in there or bringing home babies!

I'm 32+2 and still hanging in there! Things are going well, I'm basically resuming activity as normal (minus exercise or anything strenuous), but the overall pregnancy discomfort is making it hard to do much regardless. I've been so tired lately too.

I've been doing mostly online shopping; my daughter is almost 2.5 and I'm having too much fun spoiling her. I don't usually buy her toys or anything throughout the year, so I'm letting myself go a little crazy for Christmas, and I'm so excited for her.

I've been listening to Christmas music, which my daughter loves, but have not decorated anything yet. I think we'll get a tree this weekend. It all seems like a lot of work this year, but I know I need to get out the decorations and get in the spirit!

Hi ladies! So good to hear how well you all are doing. I'm 31+2 today, and it's so hard to believe! I've been feeling good, not really on any kind of rest other than no exercise, but lately I've been having stronger contractions (though very sporadic still), so I think I need to take it more easy going forward. I'm just feeling pretty big and starting to get uncomfortable and tired. I have no idea if I'll go early or not, but I never did have contractions with my first like this, and was only 2 days late with her, so we shall see. I start seeing the doctor every 2 weeks now, so at my next appointment I will bring up the contractions and see what they say.

Hi everyone. 28+2 today! I'm so happy to have reached this milestone. I found out about my short cervix 10 weeks ago; it's crazy that I have come this far! I have been feeling good, other than starting to swell slightly, and for being soooo tired all the time now. Other than not exercising or doing anything too strenuous, I have been doing things pretty normally at this point. If I feel "off" I just lay down, but so far so good. Still feeling better than I did in the earlier weeks since finding out about the short cervix; I think the resting and progesterone have helped a ton.

I'll be keeping the rest of you in my prayers!

27+1 today! I've been feeling really good lately and while still not exercising or doing anything too strenuous, I'm pretty much going about life as normal again, unless I don't feel good. Oddly, I feel less heaviness and pressure these days, and the baby seems to be moving around higher up in my abdomen, so I'm not sure if he/she has  moved or what. I am still taking the progesterone, and I'm sure that's helping. I know I'm not out of the woods yet at all, but I'm feeling more and more positive.

I passed my glucose test, so I don't have GD, which I'm very excited about.

I'm going to try to dress up as a bear later when I take my daughter out with some friends. She is going to be a fox  :)

Hi ladies! I'm 26+1 today and so thankful to have made it this far! I don't have much to report, as I'm not needing to be seen by the high risk OB anymore at this point. I'm still not exercising or doing any strenuous activity, but I have been doing more than I had been earlier in my pregnancy because I have felt good. If I feel like I've done too much, I just lay down and take it easy. I have my one-hour glucose test this Thursday. I'm a little worried about it because I failed the 1-hour with my daughter, but did pass the 3-hour. I also have a routine appointment that day, so I'll see how things are going, although I don't think I'll get a cervical check.

Glad to hear so many of you are doing so well!

Welcome! My cervix was found to be about that length at 18 weeks and I was started on 200mg of progesterone suppositories and told to "take it easy". Basically, no exercise, sex, heavy lifting, or much walking. Until about 23-24 weeks I was basically a couch potato, but still did basic things like showering and getting ready for the day, making easy meals. I just tried to sit down as much as possible. I'm 25+2 today, and after weekly ultrasounds showing my cervix remaining stable, I have started doing more as long as I feel ok. Nothing strenuous, but running basic errands, going to church, etc.

Hopefully you are getting weekly ultrasounds to check on things, but that's basically how I would take it right now, just week by week and as my doctors have always said, just keep an eye out for a change in discharge, cramping, bleeding, etc.

I will say I was terrified when they found out and making it to 24 weeks seemed like an eternity, but it's great they found it and put you on progesterone and told you to take it easy. I think you are doing everything right!

Welcome, and congrats on your pregnancy, but so sorry for the loss of your twins  :(

Since you've already been diagnosed with IC, they will likely do more u/s anyway, but if not, definitely make sure you are getting regular ultrasounds to check on things. I don't have a cerclage, but would also definitely bring that up with your doctor. I'm on progesterone suppositories and those seem to be working very well for me, so hopefully they will put you on those as well. I've heard the standard is 200mg.

Good luck, and I'll keep you and your family in my prayers!

I'm 25+1 today, thank God for making it this far! I had an appointment last Thursday where they found my cervix was still stable, but that day it was funneling, which seems concerning to me, but they said since my cervix was still closed and the same length, they were not worried about it. I no longer need to see the high risk doctor at this point, so I guess now it's just a waiting game. I still need to "take it easy", and I'm guessing will need to do so until I'm full term. Now I'll just have to keep an eye on any major changes with my body.

I'm a bit surprised at how uncomfortable I am already. I feel SO big, almost like 3rd tri already. I'll take it though!

Morning ladies! I'm 24+1 today!!! I remember how it seemed like making it to this milestone seemed like forever away, but now I'm here and I can't really believe it! I've been feeling pretty good, and didn't have an appointment last week, but have one this week, so we will see how things are looking. I'm not on official bed rest or anything and have actually felt pretty good so I've been doing more than I probably should, but I'll see how things look this week. If they are worse, than I'll know I need to take it easier.

I also feel like I'm carrying low, but it doesn't feel like the baby will "fall out" yet; although sometimes my belly does feel very heavy. Laying down helps it go away. I feel the majority of the movement below my belly button, kind of in the pelvic area or a little above, BUT I remember this is exactly how my first felt too. I rarely felt movement above my belly button, and I never understood the moms that complained about baby being in their ribs because I never felt that way at ALL. I actually recall wondering if it was normal to feel the baby so low so early on, but my first was full term with no issues during the pregnancy. So I wonder if this is just how my body carries?

I also do feel more huge and uncomfortable than I should at 24 weeks  :-\ I am petite, and got pretty big with my first, and I'm guessing (hoping) it's normal to be bigger the second time around, but I really feel about as uncomfortable as I did around the 31-32 week mark with my first.

Anyway, I'm glad to hear all of you are still hanging in there and cookin along! We got this ladies!

Welcome! Congratulations on your pregnancy, but sorry you're dealing with the cervical issues. I'm currently 23+2 and my cervix was found to be about 2.24 cms then but still holding steady at about that same length currently. I was put on 200mg of progesterone suppositories, and wasn't told to go on bed rest either, but to "take it easy". I don't have a cerclage either, they chose to check me every week and see how things were looking, and since it held steady I didn't end up getting one.

If they aren't already, I would want to make sure to be checked weekly, and I would probably "take it easy" also--no lifting, no exercising, sit or lay on the couch as much as possible. But if you're getting checked weekly, it should be easier to determine a better plan of action, so that's what I would push for the most.

I'm 23+1 today, 24 weeks is SO close now, I'm feeling more positive than I have in a long time about this pregnancy. Although 24 weeks is still extremely early, I think the coming weeks will go by faster. I had an appointment last Friday and my cervix was still holding steady at around 2.24 cm, which it's been since 18 weeks, so I'm extremely grateful for that.

I've been eating dinners that my mom brings over, since she watches my daughter while I work. So I've been getting a portion of whatever she makes for the family, which has been lifesaving. On the weekends I have been making things in the crock pot though, or simple things like tacos. Lately I've been craving ice cream and kind of junky food, and since I can't exercise, I decided this week I really need to reign it in. I think I might end up bigger than with my first, and not exercising is NOT helping the situation. I'm looking forward to working out after I have this little one.

On a side, note, we figured out the perfect girl name! (We are team green). We had a name pretty solidly picked out, but I changed my mind, and my husband suggested one that was perfect. We are set on our boy name already. Now to find out what this little one is!!!

So glad to hear everyone is still hanging in there!

I'm 22+2 today. I had an appointment last Wednesday and my cervix still looked stable, I think it went from 2.24 cm the week before to 2.21 that day. I have another appointment on Friday. I've been feeling fine, just taking it easy still, which is kind of hard to do with my 2 year old. I just keep taking it week by week so I'm anxious to see what they will find out Friday.

I'm still anxious to make it to 24 weeks, but when I found out at 18 weeks I had a short cervix, making it to 24 seemed like an eternity, and now it's coming up. I'm still very cautious, because I know it can all change, but I can't wait for the next 2 weeks to go by!
