Making the Best of Bed Rest / Re: Birthing classes while on bedrest
« on: October 19, 2011 at 01:38 PM » has several short online videos.  There were several on the list, but I know I seen some pertaining to births and feeding.  I don't know how helpful they would be, I haven't watched those, but it might be a start.
Hope this helps.

I've been trying to read up on it to "prepare" myself as a just in case...  It doesn't sound too good.  That was why I was wondering if anyone had actually had it.    How far along are you?  They say there is still a chance (although slim in my case) that the previas can move on their own up until I think 28-32 weeks. (I can't remember for sure now)
I am also getting u/s every other week.

Good luck to you with your previa.

Thanks for the words of encouragement!
Mumtaz-> I went to that link and it was the correct one.  Thanks for sending it my way  :-X

Preterm Labor: Anything and Everything / Re: Progesterone?
« on: October 17, 2011 at 02:21 PM »
So glad to hear baby looks good  ;D
I started taking the weekly progesterone shots at 16 weeks because of previous preterm labor and delivery.  They seem to be doing the trick so far.  I haven't had any dilation although my cervix is on the shorter end of normal (it's fluctuated a bit), but I'm not sure if that is because of the placenta previa or not.
I'm now 21 weeks (tomorrow) so were making it so far.
Hope that helps.  :-X

Making the Best of Bed Rest / Re: Monday Roll Call for October 17

I'm 20wk6d.  We have an appointment on Wednesday.  Can't wait to hear the heart beat for reassurance...  I may have to invest in one of those things.   :D

So I am diagnosed with complete placenta previa.  I have been doing some reading online about it.  I read that a person with placenta previa has an increased risk of getting placenta accreta.
I was just wondering if there was anyone out there that ended up getting the accreta also.  If so, how did that work out?

Another plus to bed rest:
Not having to do house work...  (especially the ones you hate).

What's Your Story? Tell us. / Trying to keep this little bun in the oven
« on: October 15, 2011 at 10:15 AM »
So I'm new to the whole forum thing and bed rest.
I have one three year old at home and I've lost three babies to miscarriage.  I am now pregnant again and we've made it past all of my normal obstacles, although I did have bleeding early on in my pregnancy (like all my others)  :)
At 18 weeks I had severe bleeding.   I was diagnosed with placenta previa and a short cervix-ON top of that I have a "growth" on my placenta they they think is a hematoma (blood mass).  I have been on bed rest since.  I was released from the hospital and have been at home, but the bleeding has never really stopped.  I can go a day and not have any or even two days, but then I have more.  It is light bleeding, nothing like when I went into the hospital, so that is good, but the bleeding in itself still worries me.  My Dr's say it is expected and only if it is a large amount do I need to come back to the hospital.  My 3 year old is having a difficult time- especially with me not being able to hold him.  (although he is allowed to sit carefully on my lap).  Luckily, by husband is doing a great job with him and other things I can no longer take care of and my work is very understanding-  they have even offered to bring meals by for us.
I see a dr every week, every other is an ultrasound.  My placenta is still a complete previa and my cervix has fluctuated from a 2.6, to a 3, and at the last appointment 2.5.  I was told these are all within the normal range- just on the lower end. A cerclage was mentioned as something that can be done, but it doesn't seem like they feel the need to do it and in a couple weeks, it will no longer be an option- because they don't do it after so long in the pregnancy.  At this point, everything I feel or don't feel worries me.  I'll feel a pain and wonder if somethings wrong- or is this just a normal stretching pain...  I want things to work out so badly for this little one.
I haven't been on bed rest long...  only 2 weeks now, which puts me at 20 weeks 4 days today :-X  I'm doing everything I can to keep this little bun in the oven until he/she is big and strong and healthy.
