Congrats Dana! I hope Lyra and you are both doing well! I also had a cesarean section and having a tough recovery. May you recover quickly!

So great that you passed all these milestones. It is tough to have your girl in the NICU, but I remember the beginning of your journey and you have come so far!

Lots of hugs! Please keep us updated. ??????

Hi Dana, Just saw your post! I hope you are hanging in there! But, it is great that you will make it to exactly 32 weeks if you do go into labor. All the bed rest and the steroid shots will pay off. We tend to forget that while on bed rest, our babies have the lion's share of all the healthy nutrients we eat since we are not as active. Wishing you the best! You are in my thoughts.

They are sending me and the twins home tomorrow. Looks like no NICU time. The boys are doing well! They came out screaming! I'm sure it was because of the steroids we got early on and the bed rest.

Thanks for all your prayers and positive vibes!!! We are so thankful!

Hi Ladies! Just an update...

Well, I'm in labor and delivery! Made it to 35+1. My water broke yesterday. I was lying in bed and reached over to grab my crochet hook and felt a gush. These boys are ready to make their appearance. The doctors told me I'm released from bed rest- that I can now go for a long walk if I like! Lol! I walked to the hospital cafeteria, which was closed :)

Keep us in your thoughts! Thanks for all the support over the months! You all have helped me through a tough time. Praying my boys will come out screaming and healthy.

Keep em cookin'! Big hugs!

This weather has definitely made me feel more left out. While I'm happy that time is passing and I'm still cookin', it is difficult to stay on bed rest. It's the end of the school year for my daughter in kindergarten and I missed the year end show and BBQ. I'm lucky enough to be on modified bedrest and am hoping that it will be ok to go to my daughter's fifth birthday party in the park. I plan to just sit back, eat and take pictures. It will not be any more active than my weekly doctor's appointment. I will run it by the doctors and see what they say this week.

I have two visitors coming over this week and I usually just chat with them over cookies. Hopefully, I will get some good ideas from the other moms on bed rest.

Today makes 13 weeks of bed rest! I will be 35 weeks tomorrow! I can't believe I'm still cookin'! I'm so thankful and hope that I can hold onto these twins for a little bit longer. I'm so heavy and uncomfortable at this stage that I'm not sure how much I could do off of bed rest anyway.... Just trying to keep my spirits up and endure a little bit longer.

Have a great week mamas!

My daughter is finishing up her first year of kindergarten! Will be great to have her home more. This week I'm looking forward to going out to dinner with my husband. The doctors said I could have an outing to the restaurant by our home :-)

Today makes 12 weeks of bedrest. I will finally be 34 weeks tomorrow! So happy to have made it this far. Actually, this morning we thought "this is it" and ended up going to labor and delivery because of spotting and fluid but, they sent me home. They tested and I was negative for amniotic fluid and the US showed that although my cervix is thin, .7cm., it is closed. The twins looked fine by CTG. Again, I was surprised that they didn't keep me for observation, but happy to go home.

Positive vibes to all the other mamas out there on bed rest!

Welcome K@T!

Have you been in the hospital this whole time? Do you have to lie down all the time? Are you able to sit up at all or go in a wheelchair outside for a few minutes a day?

You've made it a really long time and are doing fantastic! Very encouraging! Let's keep em cookin'!

Dana- Thanks for sharing your friend's success story with twins. Since I'm expecting twins,  it is always comforting to hear about others that have gone the distance with twins!
I hope the gestational diabetes can be controlled through diet. That is so hard.

Kfontana- I understand the constant anxieties and nerves. I do a lot of reading online and sometimes I have to limit myself because this can trigger thoughts of the worst case scenario. There have been weeks during my bed rest that I have not allowed myself to do research just to give myself a mental break. In my experience, the doctors do not give hope, they usually state facts to prepare me for harsh realities. I go to the hospital for monitoring and every time I get a new doctor, they take one look at my cervix and talk to me as if I'll go into labor any second. I try not to let this increase my stress. It's so hard! But, I totally agree with Dana, they can do amazing things in the NICU!

I'm lucky that I have a friend who had pPROM and stayed in the hospital for 7 weeks. She had a healthy baby boy at 33 weeks. She keeps me positive and cheers me on. She reminds me that thinking about all the things that can go wrong and getting stressed is not a rabbit hole I should go down- it's not productive. It's a blessing to have others to chat with that have had to do bed rest for long periods of time.

You are doing great! So is your baby! Each day counts!

Great weather here! It's been hot, but cooled off today. I will try to enjoy some sun this week. Maybe it's finally warm enough to enjoy some meals outside.

As of today, I've been on bed rest for 11 weeks. My back is aching and my neck is so stiff, but it's worth it! I will be 33 weeks tomorrow! Closer to my next goal of 34! I'm feeling like the end is finally in sight and getting very excited to meet my boys. So thankful to have kept them cookin' this long.

Talk to you other mamas on bed rest tomorrow on live chat!

Dear EmJay344,

You are truly a great support for your wife and baby to be! It means so much that you do all this research and because of it, you can understand more thoroughly what a struggle it can be for your significant other.

24 weeks is a major milestone and I hope you can get to it or have already achieved it. Although, since your wife has received the steroids, I assume that you are past the 24 week viability. Oh, it is in your title, 24+4. Lots of women have had huge success with cerclage, so stay positive. It sounds like your doctor is very optimistic, so let that comfort you.

My thoughts are with you and your family!

Hi Guzman 87,

Glad to hear that you are still cookin'! It must be a bit nerve-racking to suddenly be off of bed rest. Did they tell you why? Yesterday, at my doctor's appointment they told me that I could switch to modified bed rest. No chores, basically house arrest. She said I needed to be in better shape, strength and circulation- wise, for when I deliver and bring my twins home. That being said, I was at the hospital and this was a doctor I had not seen before. I'd like to make it to 34, so I'm going to be really careful. This doctor said I could start by walking back to our car in the hospital parking garage, which was like two blocks away! After being on bed rest for 10 weeks, there is no way I could have made it in 30C and 90% humidity! My husband took me in the wheelchair anyway (he thought it was a terrible idea) and the junior doctor commented that maybe it's best to start more activity by just walking a bit more in our apartment.

We never know if we are getting good advice and just have to do what we are comfortable with. Take it easy, but enjoy a little extra freedom!

Hi All,

Today makes 10 weeks of bed rest for me and tomorrow I will hit the 32 week milestone! Spent a nice long weekend with my family. I'm looking forward to my husband grilling hamburgers tonight.

I have my weekly appointment at the hospital on Wednesday and have my fingers crossed that the doctors will let me continue bed rest at home. Even though I am closer to the home stretch, I feel much more restless. Bed rest is an arduous and difficult journey.

Best Wishes to all the other mamas on bed rest! Let's keep em cookin!

Congrats on making it to 22! Yes, at my hospital they can start steroids at 23+5. Since it is 2 shots at 24 and 48 hours, it is timed perfectly to coincide with 24 weeks.

Hi Laylasmommies,

I'm sorry to hear that this has happened. I find that doctors can be quite reluctant to give any hope. At least that was the case for me as well. But, like you, the neonatologist delivered the worst possible scenarios, yet left me feeling better because I knew what I might face and he also mentioned some success stories. I appreciated that. I have incompetent cervix, not PROM, but I did think that I my water had broken while I was in the hospital. They put me on antibiotics immediately and told me to relax. Then they measured my fluid levels by ultrasound, which were normal. One of the midwives the following morning was very kind and told me that I should not despair. She then told me that the amniotic fluid replenishes every 24 hours or so, and that I should drink lots of water. I also wanted to tell you that I have a close friend that had PROM and was able to stay in the hospital on bedrest for 7 weeks- she then had a very healthy baby boy after a NICU stay. ??
I totally understand the anxiety and bumps of the car ride to the doctor. That combined with long waits sitting up drive me insane with worry. Perhaps they want to check the amniotic fluid levels and then check for infection while you are there? Try to ascertain if the Tuesday appointment is critical.

Sending lots of positive vibes your way! Stay strong!

Hi All,

I'm finally back home after 8.5 weeks of hospital bed rest! I will be 31 weeks tomorrow! It has been tough transitioning to bed rest at home. All the same rules apply- I can only get up to use the restroom. I find that it's a longer walk to the bathroom at home and I miss the adjustable bed in the hospital. I also have to ask my husband and mother in law to bring me stuff all the time. I'm not used to asking for so much help. I now realize that at the hospital they really think of everything you need before you ask for it. I rarely used my call button. The nurses and midwives were very good. But, it is so great to be home. I'm trying to stay on the sofa during the day and go to the bedroom only at night. The doctors said that I don't have to give myself heparin shots at night even though I had them every night in the hospital. I'm a bit worried about that. What did you ladies do for your circulation at home? I have my doctor's appointment tomorrow. Fingers crossed they don't tell me that I have to go back to the hospital.

I've been watching Outlander on Netflix lately. I also watch Billions and Homeland. My friend told me to check out The Mentalist, so I've been watching that today.

Positive vibes to all you other mamas on bedrest! Looking forward to live chat tomorrow!

Hi CoffeeNSand,

I know you are worried and it is natural, but try to stay calm and take it day by day. I know- easier said than done. Many women on this forum have gone several more weeks when down to the stitch, so please stay hopeful. In fact, the neonatologist at the hospital I'm in had told me that women can go a very long time with bulging membranes.

Stay positive! You are doing a great job on bedrest!
