What's Your Story? Tell us. / Re: Pregnant again after early loss

So I spoke to the dr yesterday who explained things in more detail. She said he has agenesis of the corpus callosum (which could mean a mild/moderate learning delay or he may be unaffected by it).

Also she said his brain doesn't look like it's developing as it should because part of it is measuring at less than the 5th percentile. She said it could be down syndrome or a more severe syndrome  :'( And she strongly suggests an amnio. The amnio wouldn't help him tho, it would just mean we knew exactly what the issue is and if it's isolated or linked to something else. And what to expect. She said if it's a different syndrome such as 13 or 18 or something else he may have no quality of life 😥

Thanks! Me too! I am just feeling so overwhelmed and I don't know what to think! I am pretty annoyed with my specialist because I would have thought he could have told me more about what it could mean etc. I don't know if he is just not  qualified enough to know or what?  :'( But the neurologist is meant to be ringing me today or Monday to discuss things in more detail. In the meantime I am just left hanging!! The specialist told me not to panick because he thinks but will be fine but I think it could just be something he is saying to be nice??

He also didn't mention progesterone or anything. :/ Just told me the length and to take it easy 😒😡 I feel like I should be doing more tho!! With my last successful pregnancy, when I went into labour at 32 weeks, it progressed very quickly! They did stop it but my cl was short then too. And I am only 26 weeks today! And if his brain is not growing like it should I think he needs as much time inside to develop as he can get!

Overall I just feel a bit annoyed with him because I feel like I left the appointment not knowing much more than when I actually went in! I asked so many questions and I just didn't get many answers. :(

So I had another appointment yesterday and found out I was told the wrong cl!! It has actually decreased 😥😔 And is 2.2.

Also, got my MRI results back and bub has some brain issues, with a very small corpus callosum, delayed brain development and his brain is also measuring at less than the 5th percentile! They didn't really tell me what it means for him, just that we need another MRI in a few weeks to make sure it's still growing etc.

This just feels like such a rollercoaster of a pregnancy!!

Yay for 36 weeks!! That is awesome news :D

Thanks, English Rose! I am so stoked! I was a bit worried about even buying much for him before in case things went wrong, etc. But now I feel things will actually be ok, I have been going nuts! Haha. Just hope my partner isn't home for all the multiple online order deliveries (haha JK)! How are you? Hope things are ok on your end?

Wow, Lauren! 24+4 is great! I am so glad you have made it this far as well. And hopefully much further! How exciting for you! And thanks. :) I'm not really a religious person, and more believe in science, so I didn't expect anything positive. We had so many people praying for and thinking of my little guy tho that it makes me wonder?? Lol. Who knows. I am just so relieved that he won't need surgery and he will be ok!

So glad you have made it to 35 weeks! 2.2 kg is a good weight too! Doesn't sound like you have long to go now! Hopefully you make it to 37 weeks! I am so excited for you! :D

So, I had bubs MRI, ultrasound and appointments this week. It was really encouraging! The ultrasound went so well! His fluid has miraculously cleared from his brain! The specialist was so shocked and said he has rarely ever seen it happen with swelling and fluid so bad! He actually said "So I don't know what's happened here, but we have gone from what was potentially a scary, severe outcome, to a normal brain!" I  almost cried when we were told that! If the MRI results come up  normal when we get them, which the specialist thinks they should do, he won't need a shunt or surgery etc! I am so so relieved!

His heart is also looking great! And he is now 1 lb 12 at 25 weeks :D So he is growing really well too!

Cl was good too! And actually a little longer than last time! The specialist agreed an amnio would be too risky for bub to check for DS, with the bleeding and issues I've had so far. So we will find out either way at birth. I am just glad I will have a baby to take home and love!

It was such a positive appointment and I am feeling so encouraged about everything :D

Thanks, Lauren :) You too! Are you at 24 weeks now? It is crazy with all the mixed feelings. I'm also looking forward to the next goal. Probably do that till I've had him!! Lol. I just feel so much more nervous this pregnancy! But every day is a step in the right direction :D

Thanks Obmum!

Yep!! That is so true!! :) I have been counting down till this point for what seems like forever. Lol. Now I am counting each day on top of 24 as an extra achievement as well :) You would be 24 or almost there too now??

Will let you know how I go with the scan :)

That is great news that your Cl is stable! :) And fantastic she is growing well and her heart looks perfect! I am so happy for you :)

It's great you are home now too. I do hope the contractions Nd cramping stops. 23+2 is fantastic as well :) I am 23+5 today. And starting to feel a bit calmer each extra day gained :)

This is only at my local hospital too. I have had most of my appointments changed over to the bigger much better hospital because of being high risk and all the issues. But it is 4hrs away, so I had to go to our smaller local hospital. I feel like the Brisbane hospital would have been much more attentive. They help with babies at 23 weeks too, if they are born early.

That is good news :) So good you have hardly any pains. I hope you don't have any more bleeding again, especially since u haven't had any in a while. It's really stressful! I always freak out every time.

Thanks. Yes, it has stopped now. It wasn't a big lot, and only lasted almost a day, but it was bright red which always freaks me out! I don't think they wanted to keep me in because it wasn't heavy and I'm not 24 weeks yet? I am not sure... Bub is still kicking away well, with a good heartbeat, and everything looked fine tho so that is a big relief for me. I thought it could have been  my cl changing but it is still  the same for now. I am 23 weeks today too, and I am literally counting down the days till 24! Lol
Just trying to take it easy over the next few days especially.

That is great everything seems to be calming down. Must be a huge relief for you! :)

22+3 is great! Not long now till viability at all!! :D I am 22+6. Had some bleeding again, so very nervous...Bub is still fine tho and they don't know why I am bleeding 😐 I just wish I could fast forward to 24 weeks!!

That makes sense about the hospital policy. I understand what you mean about the ffn tho. If would be a big relief to get a negative one :) I am glad the drs and nurses did listen though. I guess they are very limited before 24 weeks.

I hope your cough goes soon. Sounds like the worst time for you to have one! That sounds frustrating about the no children policy too :( I would feel lost if I couldn't see my kids! And a difficult situation if you have an emergency. You would think if you had an emergency they would understand!

Wow! That is fantastic that your dog is doing great :) Im so happy for you. Must be a big relief with that worry off your plate for now :)
