The holiday season is well under way. It's exciting to see time passing, but I know it can be a tough time as friends and family are having holiday parties and are out shopping for gifts. This is a time when it is especially important to invite people over so that you don't feel quite so left out. What do you have planned? Or tell us what you will make a plan to do after reading this message.

I'm looking forward to your updates! It was great to have such a great turnout for the Live Chat last week. Even with the struggles you are all going through, I have to say that we had a lot of fun!

Keep 'em cookin', mamas!

Hello!

Tell us what you're doing to capture the holiday spirit even though you are on bedrest! Listening to special music? Are you shopping online, or having someone do some shopping for you? Are you able to have friends or a leader from your religious community come visit you? And, for those who aren't linked to particular religion, there's always the "Festivus" episode of Seinfeld! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dS7-jcsB_WQ Laughter is universal!  ;D

I hope you all will join us in the Chat Room tomorrow at 2 pm Eastern/11 am Pacific for the Live Chat.

Keep looking forward, mamas!
Angela

P.S. Whenever you are going to shop on Amazon, please first click on this link: http://amzn.to/2ARD1C4. Then shop! When you do, Amazon gives 6% of the purchase price to Keep 'Em Cookin' and that helps me to keep the forum up and running. Thank you!

Hi, Twins2018!

I am so glad you found our group! A lot of moms say that the first 2 to 3 weeks are the hardest, so you're over the first hump.  :) Do you have any other children?

Let's see... Sydney is 16 hours ahead of Washington, D.C. where I live, so for you that would be 6 am. Really early, but perhaps you can join us anyway.

Positive thoughts coming your way!

Hello, my dears.

I HATE to ask for help, just like many of you are feeling right now. It personally costs me more than $2,000 per year to run KeepEmCookin (for website hosting, website security, business registration fees, bank fees, and domain registration).  Your Amazon purchases are a way that I can help meet that goal. It is Cyber Monday on Amazon, so it seems like the best day to make this request. Whenever you are going to shop on Amazon (not just today), please first click on this link: http://amzn.to/2Ah68fc Then shop! When you do, Amazon gives 4% to 6% of the purchase price to Keep 'Em Cookin' and that helps me to keep the forum up and running.

So super mamas, how has the past week been? What have you been up to? Who has an appointment this week?

Keep looking forward, mamas!
Angela

If you want, you can still see what we talked about today during the Live Chat if you go to the link here: http://www.keepemcookin.com/live-chat/

While you're in the hospital, I thought you might like a mantra that helped me. "In this moment, I am exactly where I need to be."

I hope you can have some visitors soon to help take your mind off of things, even if just for a little bit. Big hugs!

Oh my, Lilie. That about as terrifying as it can be. I am soooo relieved to hear that your baby is still doing great! And that is a wonderful cervix length! Do you have some comfort knowing that you'll be at the hospital for the next week?

I'm sure you must still feel so wound up. This relaxation music recording helps me; maybe it will help you, too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPni755-Krg

Keep us posted! Positive thoughts and prayers coming your way!

Making the Best of Bed Rest / Monday Roll Call: Giving Thanks
« on: November 20, 2017 at 09:57 AM »
Hello, ladies!

It is almost Thanksgiving, and you may be feeling a bit down about it. Getting through any holiday while on bedrest can be especially tough when you feel like you're missing out. Instead, try to consider it a marker in the passage of time, getting you even closer to a safe delivery date.

So tell us what you are thankful for. It can be big or small.

Keep looking forward, mamas!
Angela

Hi, Taylor!

I have lots of positive responses from our moms on Facebook! Here you go:

Naomi: Mine was shorter than that at this point, and baby stayed in full-term!! X3 pregnancies now! I blogged about the pregnancies, as well as their birth stories on our family blog. Hope it’s encouraging! http://www.naomisahlstrom.com/pregnancy-update-22-weeks/

Claire Booth
: Yes! This was me. Bed rest & medical advice re progesterone and hopefully you will get to 33 weeks like us ???? good luck!

Lidice: Mine was 2.1cm and funnelling but we managed to get full term! Bed rest and progesterone!

Ashley: I was at .5 cm at 25 weeks and held on until 39 weeks with full bed rest and progesterone. <3 Good luck mama

Vanessa: I fluctuated between low to mid 2’s my whole pregnancy. Made it to 38weeks, even being 4cm dilated and 80% effaced at 35 weeks!

Megan: I was under 1cm at 24 weeks with twins. Made it to 35 weeks w bed rest and progesterone. My success story babies turn 4 at the end of the month.

Hi, Taylor! I'm sorry I missed your post until now. You will see on here that we have had many women with a short cervix like yours make it to term when they're getting good care. It sounds like you and your OB are on top of it with progesterone suppositories and modified bedrest.

In my case, my cervix was 1.5 at 24 weeks. I had preterm labor with my first pregnancy, so I was getting the progesterone shots as a preventative measure starting at 16 weeks. Still, my cervix was shortening. So at 24 weeks I went on modified bedrest. I had several rounds of preterm labor, and I always went to the hospital to get checked out. I guess my biggest piece of advice is to listen to what your body is telling you, and never hesitate to call your OB with any questions or concerns.

Is this your first pregnancy?

Try to stay positive. You could still have many weeks of pregnancy ahead of you!

Hi, SamRose.

We have a few more responses for you, from some of our Twitter bedrest moms:

@Kaymo_Ma says:
I used it each time I went for appointments. Was on complete bed rest. Carried baby to nearly 38 weeks.

@lostgirl0983 says:
I haven’t needed it yet for appts, but I have used one so I could get out briefly with my husband and start a layaway for Christmas. I do have my hubs drop me off at the door now. No parking lots for me anymore.
