That is GREAT news you are still cookin', even with all the ups and downs! There will be days when 4 weeks seems like a reeeeeeally long time, but in the big picture of your life and your baby's life, these are just moments. Positive thoughts coming your way...

Hugs and kisses, ladies!  :-*

Will you be doing anything special with your sweetie for Valentine's day? I know holidays can be difficult when you are on bedrest, but hopefully you will be able to enjoy a meal or a movie together. Finding time for romance (or just feeling connected) is especially tough when you're on bedrest. You really have to work hard to make those opportunities happen.

And for those who think Saint Valentine can take a hike and keep on walking, what are you looking forward to this week?

I hope to see you all on the live chat tomorrow!

It's February and here you are! Your dedication to your babies is wonderful.

Just for fun, share with us which TV shows you are watching. I'm kind of embarrassed to admit how much TV I've been watching lately, but I HAVE to let my brain zone out after a packed day with work and the kids. You need to give your brains a break, too.

I recently finished the second season of "Stranger Things," and the most recent season of "Black Mirror." I really want to recommend "The Time in Between" and "The Paradise." Both of those are about women who push through their hardships and take charge of their lives. They rock it! Like you.  ;)

I'm checking in. How are things going?

I can not express how sorry I am for your loss. There is nothing more devastating than losing a child. Would you like to tell us her name?

The frustration of not knowing why is unbearable, too. Many of us have been there. Please know that you did nothing wrong, which how many women feel.  Nothing anyone can say will change how you feel, but I can offer you a few suggestions, if that is okay.

There is a group called Compassionate Friends, which is a support network for infant loss. It is going to be so important to connect with people who have been there and who can guide you and support you. https://www.compassionatefriends.org/find-support/to-the-newly-bereaved/

Do you have a therapist you can talk to? Your OB can recommend one, and the hospital might offer free counseling services with a social worker on staff. Don't try to handle this on your own. Perhaps your husband can go with you too.

My heart goes out to you... Prayers of healing to you and your family. (((hugs)))

What's Your Story? Tell us. / Re: 32 weeks- Dad checking in
« on: January 29, 2018 at 11:09 AM »
Wow! I am so happy to hear that things are moving in the right direction. Definitely let us know how the next appointment went.

I really hope that being back around other people at work has helped her mood. Does she have any old friends she could call? I know, it almost seems strange to call people these days, but I think it will really be a pick-me-up. Or a family member? And as far as venting, we are definitely here for her.  ;)

Also, if there are times she needs a pity party, she should go for it. Sometimes when you hold back your feelings it makes it worse. So if she needs to complain or cry, that's okay. And please know that if she needs a pity party, it doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong or not doing enough. It seems for many dads they can feel helpless during this time. It sounds like you are a wonderful husband and dad.

Let us know how this past week has been. Positive thoughts to all of you...

That is fantastic! It must feel so good to be able to be up and about again, even with restrictions. Plus, being up a bit more might give Baby Boy a chance to flip. It's still possible. Keep us updated!  :D

Hi, ladies.

I was thinking about a time when I was playing with Batman and Robin figures with my son. He said that he wished that he had a Wonder Woman figure so that I could be her.  :-*

Of course, that made me think of all of you! You are Wonder Women, doing everything you can for your babies. And you're also so wonderful for the support you provide each other! Whenever someone's having an especially tough day or week, you all are there. So thank you!

Anybody have any appointments this week?

Hi! I'm glad you found our group. I can't provide medical advice, but because of your history of preterm birth, I'd say give your OB a call. This early on, it's unusual to have Braxton Hicks. Take a look at this list of symptoms and see if you have any other symptoms of preterm labor: http://www.keepemcookin.com/educate-yourself/symptoms-of-preterm-labor/

Better safe than sorry. Let me know when you call. It'll make me feel better.  ;)

"I learned that we can do anything, but we can't do everything... at least not at the same time. So think of your priorities not in terms of what activities you do, but when you do them. Timing is everything."
--Dan Millman

And this is your time to cook! Let everything else fall aside ... for now.

So tell me what is new, ladies! What are you looking forward to this week? As always, let us know how many weeks along you are.

Keep 'em cookin',

I am so very very sorry about the loss of your son. It must be painfully frustrating to not know the cause after all of those tests. In any case, there was nothing you could have done differently.

With having a healthy pregnancy in the past, it seems like your chances of going to full term would be likely. One thought I had is that there is a blood test that can predict your risk of preterm birth with great accuracy. You have to take the test during your pregnancy, so you wouldn't be able to find out before getting pregnant. That could help you to know if preterm delivery in your recent pregnancy was an unusual occurrence. https://www.pretrm.com/

Again, I am terribly sorry for your loss. I'm saying a prayer for strength and healing. (((hugs)))

Congratulation, Kmuss! It is wonderful you were able to get as far as you did! It sounds like she is a real trooper, with already breathing on her on and nursing sometimes. That's fantastic! Get as much skin-to-skin time as you can (and your husband, too) and she'll be home before you know it.

If you'd feel comfortable with it, perhaps you could post a picture on Facebook or Twitter for us. https://www.facebook.com/KeepEmCookin/ or https://twitter.com/KeepEmCookin

And what wonderful news about Caleb. Amazing! I have tears.

I know you've been down the preemie road before, but don't hesitate to reach out to the preemie support groups for extra support.

Lots of love!

I can't believe we are already two weeks into the new year! How has this past week been for all of you?

I hope to see you all at the Live Chat tomorrow! We've been having a lot of fun lately. If you can, plan some of your "up" time during the chat so you can access it on your laptop or desktop. It will be easier to follow along than using your phone. You CAN use your phone though, so no worries.

And keep 'em cookin'!

Welcome to another week! Tell us how many weeks along you are, what you have planned for this week, and what your favorite bed rest food is.

I ate a lot of string cheese and nuts when I was on bed rest, and also yogurt that I kept in a small fridge next to my futon on the floor in the living room. I wanted to be where all the action was with my 2-year-old Miss Sunshine. Every day was a party on the floor! Kids are very adaptable, thank goodness!

Looking forward to your updates...
Angela
