Making the Best of Bed Rest / Monday Roll Call for August 8th
« on: August 08, 2011 at 09:17 AM »
Hello! Today is a special day for KEC.

It was three years ago today that I decided to create a website devoted to helping women prevent preterm birth and to provide a forum where they could share their experiences and seek support from other moms experiencing high-risk pregnancies. My son was not quite 3 weeks old, and he had made it to 39 weeks and 3 days, though he tried his hardest to get here early. (You can read more about his story, and his sister's story, here: http://www.keepemcookin.com/about.aspx) I had learned so much about preventing preterm birth, I knew I wanted to share it. I launched KeepEmCookin the first week of January 2009.

It is so wonderful to have all of you in my life and to see the amazing support you offer one another! Thank you for being here!

So... Let us know how many weeks along you are, and tell us how you're feeling. Do you have any appointments this week or any news to report from last week? I know long-time member Threadcatcher has news to share. Can't wait to hear her birth story!

Keep 'em cookin', mamas!

Making the Best of Bed Rest / Monday Roll Call for August 1st!
« on: August 01, 2011 at 08:31 AM »
Wait! Did someone say August 1st? You've made it into a new month ladies!

Tell us what's new! How many weeks are you? How are you feeling? Any appointments coming up?

We had some really great live chats in the Chat Room last week. If you'd like to suggest a particular topic, just let me know: Info@keepemcookin.com.

Also, you may have noticed that the Forum was down last Saturday night. That's because we've moved to a new server because we outgrew the old one! That's great! The hosting company has told me that the amount of storage this forum uses will require an increase in monthly hosting fees. That's not so great. One way you can support this forum is by clicking on the Amazon ads above and below and then make ANY purchase in ANY department. Amazon will donate 6% of the purchase price to KeepEmCookin. So, if you're shopping on Amazon anyway, please click the ads here or bookmark this link: http://www.amazon.com/baby-car-seats-strollers-bedding/b?_encoding=UTF8&tag=keepecom-20&linkCode=shr&camp=213733&creative=393193&node=165796011&ref_=sa_menu_ba13

 Thanks SO much!

Making the Best of Bed Rest / Monday Roll Call for July 25
« on: July 25, 2011 at 07:58 AM »
Hello, ladies!

So tell us what's new! What are you looking forward to this week? Does anyone have any books or movies to recommend to help pass the time?

If you haven't joined our live chats in the Chat Room yet, this is the week to do it! We have an open chat scheduled for Tuesday at 2 pm Eastern, and everyone is welcome to talk about anything. Then on Thursday at 2 we'll be talking about incompetent cervix and short cervix, which are two very common reasons women are placed on bedrest. On Friday at 2 pm, a certified aromatherapist will be offering advice on reducing stress during pregnancy. Looking forward to talking to you all this week!

Keep those babies cookin'!

Hello, ladies!

We had a few deliveries last week, including FlowerChica, who had battled infertility, PCOS, IVF and incompetent cervix for six years. Congrats, mama! She has promised me she will share her story with us today for Roll Call. Also, Sarahker delivered her boys last week at 33+6. Keep them all in your thoughts. Here's her latest post about the boys: http://forum.keepemcookin.com/index.php?topic=1956.msg6413#msg6413

Let us know how many weeks along you are, and tell us how you're feeling. Do you have any appointments this week or news to report from last week?

And by the way, join us on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2 pm Eastern for our regularly scheduled live chats in the Chat Room. http://www.keepemcookin.com/thechatroom.aspx

Making the Best of Bed Rest / Monday Roll Call for June 27
« on: June 27, 2011 at 07:54 AM »
Hello, ladies!

I hope you all can stop by our Tuesday and Thursday regularly scheduled live chats in the Chat Room at 2 pm Eastern. Tomorrow we will have a special guest (Pamela McKimie) sharing techniques for reducing stress during a high-risk pregnancy. Until then, I'd like to share a thought for the day (or maybe a thought for the next few weeks):

"In this moment, I am exactly where I need to be."

As always, let us know how many weeks along you are, and tell us how you're feeling. Any appointment this week or news to report from last week?

Hello, ladies!
I just wanted to take a moment to thank all of you who have shared your stories, from your struggles to your victories. I hope you realize how much it means to other women who can see someone who has been where they are, and who is now at 36 weeks or more. Everyone here has certainly experienced difficult times, but there is also an abundance of joy that we can celebrate and that we can let inspire us.

June is just one day away! Looking forward to hearing your updates. Let us know how many weeks along you are, and tell us how you're doing.

Hope you all can join our live chat tomorrow at 2 pm Eastern in The Chat Room. Special guest Pamela McKimie will be joining us for part of the chat to talk about reducing feelings of stress and anxiety during a high-risk pregnancy!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day! I know it can be difficult for those who have lost a baby. I try to focus on being thankful for the time I had with my angel babies still safe in my womb. Everyone here knows that life is full of challenges. And I know what a strong group of women you all are. Looking forward to your updates!

So tell us what you are up to this week, and remind us how many weeks along you are.

I hope to talk with you all at the live chat tomorrow at 2 pm EST. We have a maternal-fetal medicine specialist (Dr. Adam Wolfberg) available to answer our questions, and I can't wait.
