Making the Best of Bed Rest / Roll Call for Monday March 28th
« on: March 28, 2011 at 07:25 AM »
Welcome to another Monday Roll Call!

I know it can be tough to stay motivated, so I thought it might be good to share the things that brighten your day most. For me, the highlights of bed rest were negative FFN tests, seeing my babies on ultrasound, and having my husband paint my toenails. One night he set up a "romantic" dinner on a card table next to our bed. We called it "dinner on the terrace." What keeps you going?

And as always, let us know how many weeks along you are and if you have any appointments to look forward to this week. If you had any appointments last week or any trips to L&D last week, let us know how those went.

Making the Best of Bed Rest / Monday Roll Call for March 21

Welcome to another Roll Call!

Reading this post (http://forum.keepemcookin.com/index.php?topic=1331.msg3853#msg3853) reminded me of my biggest bedrest regret. I felt so frumpy and depressed that the last thing I wanted to do was be around other people. But that was exactly what I needed! I didn't want people to see my messy house and unstyled hair, and I felt like I wouldn't be a very good host. You know what? Your real friends don't care one bit! Those few times that I invited a friend over, or told a family member what I needed to make bedrest just a little bit easier, THAT is what I remember. Even now I'm still thankful for my college roommate who brought me my favorite chicken salad sandwich! Invite people into your space, and see how it makes you feel.

So back to Roll Call, my dears. How many weeks are you? How are you feeling? Any appointments coming up? What will you be looking forward to this week?

Hello, dear bedrest mamas!

How's everyone doing? How many weeks are you? Any appointments to look forward to this week?

For any of you currently on 17P injections or who will be taking 17P injections, I've posted an article here about how to obtain a prescription and seek financial aid for Makena, which as of today is the brand name for 17P: http://www.keepemcookin.com/news.aspx

Happy Monday everyone! Congrats to Reaganh3 on the arrival of Rosalyn Scarlett at 39+ weeks! What an inspiration! Don't get discouraged, mamas. Even with the odds stacked against you, you CAN get your babies here safely.

How's everyone else? How many weeks are you? Any appointments to look forward to this week?

Making the Best of Bed Rest / Monday Roll Call for February 28
« on: February 28, 2011 at 08:08 AM »
Look at you! One day until March 1st! I came across a quote from a Greek philosopher named Epictetus that I thought might be a good mantra for getting through those tough moments on bedrest when you're feeling down or like it won't ever end:

"No great thing is created suddenly."

My sister had her 19/20 week ultrasound last Thursday and I'm excited to report that she is expecting a girl! And with our family history of preterm birth, I'm even more excited to announce that her cervix is measuring a healthy 4+ cm. A short cervix is an excellent predictor of preterm birth (info here: http://keepemcookin.com/prevention.aspx) so I'm thrilled things are looking good.

Anybody else have appointments last week? Any trips to L&D for monitoring? And what else is going on?

Can't wait to hear all your updates! I think we have several moms moving into 30 weeks and beyond.

So here's what I'm looking forward to this week: My sister has her 19/20 week ultrasound on Thursday! Of course I'm excited to find out if she's expecting a girl or a boy, but I'm also anxious to hear what her cervical length is. We have a long family history of preterm birth, so I've always wondered if an early-to-shorten cervix is genetic. (More info on a short cervix as a predictor of preterm birth:  http://www.keepemcookin.com/prevention.aspx)

What are you all looking forward to this week?

Hello, dear bedrest mamas!

I'm not sure we can top last week's Roll Call, with the delivery of so many healthy babies! What an inspiration! I wanted to point out to Reaganh3 that she's the most pregnant mom we have on the Forum. Way to go! I also noticed several new members who joined last week and posted messages. Let's make them feel welcome!

How is everyone doing today? How was the past week for you?

This week I was thinking about my relationship with my husband while I was on bedrest. Sure, there were plenty of times that I wished he could read my mind and FINALLY notice some of the messes I had to stare at all day  ;) but for the most part it improved our relationship as far as us working as partners. Even now, two years after bedrest, it's no big deal for him to do the family grocery shopping for the week, and he still makes dinner many nights of the week. How has bedrest changed your relationship?

Have a great week, ladies! Check in here anytime you want, of course! Keep 'em cookin', mamas!

How are you, my dears? I'm thinking we should be getting some updates today on some full-term newborns! And how is everyone else doing? If you need to vent, then vent. And if you've found something to help you through the hard work of bedrest (a mantra, a movie, a new routine) please share that too!

Hello! Tell us how many weeks along you are, and get us up to date on anything that happened last week. Any appointments this week? And what do you have planned this week to keep you busy?

And by the way, KeepEmCookin T-shirts are here! You can chose a design on any size T-shirt. For a laugh, check out the "Four Ways Prison Is Better than Bedrest" T-shirt: http://www.zazzle.com/angeladavids

Making the Best of Bed Rest / Monday Roll Call for December 27th!

I wanted to share a quote with everyone that I read this weekend in the book Everyday Sacred (http://amzn.to/dUIyXZ) by Sue Bender:

Miracles come after a lot of hard work.

Read it again. Then take a moment to think about the amazing job you are doing as a mom on bedrest. Feel proud. And now tell us about your miracle-in-progress! How many weeks are you? How are you feeling? Any appointments coming up? What will you be looking forward to this week?
