How's everybody doing? Miss Sunshine (my first "bedrest baby") turned 5 this weekend! We had LOTS of family over to celebrate.

How was everyone else's weekend? And what do you have planned this week? Any friends visiting? Any OB appointments?

Keep 'Em Cookin', mamas!

Happy Monday everyone!

You know I want to hear everything that is going on with you, but first I wanted to share why today is a special day. First, it's my birthday, but more important it was two years ago today that I announced to my friends and family that I was going to launch a website where moms on bedrest could connect with each other and where all pregnant women could learn the signs of preterm labor.

Many thanks to all of YOU who have provided such amazing support to one another! What a great group of women I've had the privilege to get to know! Looking forward to the many many years ahead of connecting with you all every day. We CAN prevent preterm birth.

So give us an update, ladies. How many weeks are you? Any OB appointments this week? And, did we have any deliveries last week?

Keep 'em cookin', mamas!
Idea of the Day:

I know many of you are surprised to have made it to October! Anything is possible, right ladies? How's everybody else doing?

How are all you amazing ladies doing? September is almost over, and here you are! Your dedication to your babies is wonderful.

So tell us, how many weeks are you? What are you looking forward to this week? Any visits from friends, or OB appointments?

And just for fun, share with us which TV shows and DVDs you are watching. I'm completely devoted to Mad Men, which had an incredible episode last night! You can download the episode on iTunes. I was also thrilled to see the season premiere of 30 Rock. I literally laugh out loud with that! And that is available at How about all of you?

P.S. And don't forget, you can get KeepEmCookin updates throughout the day on Twitter:

Making the Best of Bed Rest / Monday Roll Call for September 20th

Hello everyone!

How was your weekend? And what are you looking forward to this week?

I'm looking forward to the arrival of my second niece, whose due date is today! My sister in law's blood pressure has been creeping into the danger zone (either number above 140/90), so I wouldn't be surprised if she was induced in the next day or two. I'm praying that her blood pressure spike is just temporary, because the risk of preeclampsia continues 6 weeks postpartum.

I've seen many women here on the Forum and on Twitter (follow me here: dealing with pregnancy induced hypertension and preeclampsia over the last two weeks, so I'm pasting this link to our preeclampsia discussion and posts here:

Looking forward to your updates! Keep 'em cookin'!  :)

How is everyone doing? Give us an update! How far along are you? Anything new to report (like cervix length, dilating, more contractions)?

If you can, share with us something that has made bed rest easier to deal with, or maybe something you say to yourself to help get you through. I often told myself (and my irritable uterus), "In this moment, you are not contracting, so this is a good moment. Take a deep breath and enjoy it."

Looking forward to your responses! Also, for updates and posts during the day, be sure to follow KeepEmCookin on Twitter:

And, I post an Idea of the Day every weekday here:

Happy Labor Day! Of course, any day could be Labor Day around here, right?  :D

Make the most of today and spend some time catching up with someone special--at home, on the phone or online! How is everyone doing? I know a few of you had trips to L&D last week to get checked out. Anyone have any OB or ultrasound appointments this week? What else are you looking forward to?

You've almost made it to September! How is everyone feeling? Tell us what you are looking forward to this week!

How's everyone doing? Any appointments this week? What else are you looking forward to?  :)

My friend Joanie at the organization Better BedRest is actively looking for women who have been on bedrest to talk with other women currently on bedrest a few times per month, for one month at at time. For example, you could volunteer just a few months out of the year. Training is provided by Better BedRest (, and volunteers can be from anywhere in the United States.

If you are interested in learning more, please e-mail me at, or contact Better BedRest: 410-740-7662;

Sincere thanks,
