It has been very exciting to see so many to members join the Forum over the past week! You all are doing the most important job in the world and you deserve all the support you can get!

All members, please get us up to date! How many weeks are you? Any doctor's appointments planned this week? Also, what are you looking forward to this week?

Can I get everyone to commit to reaching out to a friend this week? Invite a friend to come visit you, and maybe bring a meal from a favorite restaurant or bring you a snack food you've been craving. Or, call an old friend for a long chat. Is there a board game you haven't played since you were a kid? Play it. Staying connected to other people helps SO much!

A big welcome to the many new forum members who have joined us over the past few days! We're looking forward to getting to know you!

And to ALL the ladies, let us know how many weeks you are, if you have any OB appointments this week, and what you are looking forward to. A certain book, or TV show, a special meal or a visit from a friend?

I know this week we should have some mamas checking in who are at the 37 week mark and beyond. I love to see the success stories!

Keep 'em cookin' mamas!

When I was pregnant with Little Guy, I kept this list of preterm labor symptoms on my fridge. It helped me to see things in black and white, rather than to ignore what I was feeling.

* Four or more contractions in one hour either with or without pain; cramping that may feel like menstrual cramps
* Vaginal or rectal pressure; a feeling like the baby could just “fall out”
* Increased discharge; loss of the mucus plug
* Lower backache that may persist, or come and go
* Bleeding of any sort or amount
* Leaking fluid; a gush of fluid
* Increased bowel movements or diarrhea
* A decrease in the baby's activity; fewer kicks
* A sense that something just isn't right

Please share this link with anyone you know who is pregnant to help them learn about the symptoms of preterm labor:

Thanks!

Making the Best of Bed Rest / Weekly Roll Call! 4/19/10

Sending some extra love to the hospital bedrest mamas this morning!

Who's still cookin'? How far along are you? And if you don't have anything to look forward to this week, make something to look forward to! Schedule a visit with a friend, have a candlelight dinner with the hubby, have someone bring you a favorite restaurant meal, or watch a movie you've always meant to watch.

Keep 'em cookin', mamas!  :)

It seems like many of the KeepEmCookin Twitter mamas are hospital bedresters. Thought you might want to introduce yourselves to each other here. Hospital bedrest is it's own special level or torture, I think. Your thoughts? What makes it so tough, and what advice can you offer?

And how about the rest of you ladies? Who's still cookin'? Tell us something that you are looking forward to this week. It may inspire others!  :)

Five Ways Prison Is Better than Bed Rest

1) Daily showers
2) One hour of exercise each day
3) Time spent outdoors on chain gang
4) Spending time with others in similar circumstances
5) Conjugal visits

Any other comparisons, ladies?

Has anyone delivered since last Monday's roll call?

Hey, ladies! Send Leony some love when you can. Here's her latest post. http://leony.net/2010/03/rant She's going through some very tough times now.

Leony,
I've been thinking about you a lot and what a strong person you are! Your frustrations are completely understandable, and I give you so much credit for being able to express how you feel right now. Let it out, it helps. I had been thinking about what terrible timing it was for your husband to being going through cancer while you are going through placenta previa. But, then I thought maybe the timing was somehow right. Without the day-to-day distractions around the house and the daily grind of your jobs, maybe this is a special time for you both to focus only on each other, and of course your baby.

Life on bed rest is so very slow, but perhaps your life has slowed down right now for a reason. Time is standing still for you and your husband.

I hope you don't think I'm crazy or not sensitive for saying all this. I have just seen a lot of challenging situations with many women where it all really did make sense later on. Perhaps your challenging life is what brought you and your husband together, and your strength and love can help him keep going. And your baby can keep you both moving forward.

You have all the love of all the moms who have come before you! We support you! Big hugs across the ocean!!! Love, Angela
