Making the Best of Bed Rest / Roll Call for Monday February 21
« on: February 21, 2011 at 08:12 AM »
Can't wait to hear all your updates! I think we have several moms moving into 30 weeks and beyond.

So here's what I'm looking forward to this week: My sister has her 19/20 week ultrasound on Thursday! Of course I'm excited to find out if she's expecting a girl or a boy, but I'm also anxious to hear what her cervical length is. We have a long family history of preterm birth, so I've always wondered if an early-to-shorten cervix is genetic. (More info on a short cervix as a predictor of preterm birth:  http://www.keepemcookin.com/prevention.aspx)

What are you all looking forward to this week?

Hello, dear bedrest mamas!

I'm not sure we can top last week's Roll Call, with the delivery of so many healthy babies! What an inspiration! I wanted to point out to Reaganh3 that she's the most pregnant mom we have on the Forum. Way to go! I also noticed several new members who joined last week and posted messages. Let's make them feel welcome!

How's everyone else? How many weeks are you? Any appointments to look forward to this week?

How is everyone doing today? How was the past week for you?

This week I was thinking about my relationship with my husband while I was on bedrest. Sure, there were plenty of times that I wished he could read my mind and FINALLY notice some of the messes I had to stare at all day  ;) but for the most part it improved our relationship as far as us working as partners. Even now, two years after bedrest, it's no big deal for him to do the family grocery shopping for the week, and he still makes dinner many nights of the week. How has bedrest changed your relationship?

Have a great week, ladies! Check in here anytime you want, of course! Keep 'em cookin', mamas!

How are you, my dears? I'm thinking we should be getting some updates today on some full-term newborns! And how is everyone else doing? If you need to vent, then vent. And if you've found something to help you through the hard work of bedrest (a mantra, a movie, a new routine) please share that too!

I wanted to share a quote with everyone that I read this weekend in the book Everyday Sacred (http://amzn.to/dUIyXZ) by Sue Bender:

Miracles come after a lot of hard work.

Read it again. Then take a moment to think about the amazing job you are doing as a mom on bedrest. Feel proud. And now tell us about your miracle-in-progress! How many weeks are you? How are you feeling? Any appointments coming up? What will you be looking forward to this week?

Making the Best of Bed Rest / Monday Roll Call for December 6
« on: December 06, 2010 at 08:22 AM »
Hello, my dears!
Anything new to share since last week? Any OB appointments this week?

Is anyone having trouble with being on bedrest around the holidays? I remember feeling kind of left out at times. I debated going to a Christmas party when I was on bedrest, but the host promised me I could have the whole couch to myself. :) So, I laid there on my side, and people came over to me, and though I felt a little strange I was really happy I went. What can YOU do to still be a part of the planning and the festivities?

Making the Best of Bed Rest / Monday Rollcall: Giving Thanks
« on: November 22, 2010 at 07:33 AM »
Holidays on bedrest can be especially difficult emotionally. There are probably places you won't be going this Thanksgiving Day, and family you won't see. But maybe you've come up with (or can come up with) a way to still make the day special. Feel free to use this forum to vent about your frustrations and/or tell us what you're doing to keep your spirits up.

What are you thankful for? And, of course, how many weeks are you? Any appointments last week to share, or appointments this week to look forward to?

Keep 'em cookin', mamas!

P.S. If you decide to start any holiday shopping online, we have three sponsors who will give a portion of the price of your purchase to Keep 'Em Cookin's outreach efforts (like this forum). Please click on the links below, then make ANY purchase.
