Making the Best of Bed Rest / Monday Roll Call for July 15, 2019
« on: July 15, 2019 at 10:14 AM »
Looking forward to hearing from my ladies!

My little guy will celebrate his 11th birthday this week. The time has gone way too fast! And that means KeepEmCookin.com is closing in on 11 years old, too! My 15 weeks on bedrest with him is what inspired me to create this group.  ;D

Tell us how many weeks along you are, and get us up to date on anything that happened last week.

Keep 'em cookin', mamas!

Music! Take some time today for music.

First, think of a song that has always inspired you, like the theme from Rocky, or "Roar" by Katy Perry, or a favorite workout song. Next, pick a song that will take you to another time and place in your life when you were carefree, young and idealistic. Finally, pick a song that means something special to you and your partner, perhaps a song from your wedding or a song from when you first started dating. Don't underestimate the power that music can have on your mood!

As always, let us know how many weeks along you are and how the past week has been. And, tell us a song that inspires you. Here are a few links to get you started:

"Ain't no Mountain High Enough" by Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hO_PWF0bmoM
"Fighter" by Christina Aguilera: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PstrAfoMKlc
"Stronger" by Kelly Clarkson: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xn676-fLq7I
"Survivor" by Destiny's Child: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wmc8bQoL-J0
"Happy" by Pharrell Williams: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6Sxv-sUYtM

And one more for those who won't give up ... and will keep ridin' 'til they can't no more ... "Old Town Road": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3yCeoVwOHx4

And this is your time to cook! Let everything else fall aside ... for now. So tell me what is new, ladies! What are you looking forward to this week? As always, let us know how many weeks along you are.

Making the Best of Bed Rest / Monday Roll Call for June 24, 2019

Welcome to another Monday Roll Call!

I know it can be tough to stay motivated, so I thought it might be good to share the things that brighten your day most. For me, the highlights of bed rest were negative FFN tests, seeing my babies on ultrasound, and having my husband paint my toenails. One night he set up a "romantic" dinner on a card table next to our bed. We called it "dinner on the terrace." What keeps you going?

And as always, let us know how many weeks along you are and if you have any appointments to look forward to this week. If you had any appointments last week or any trips to L&D last week, let us know how those went.

I'm looking forward to your updates! Hope to see you all on the Live Chat on Thursday.

We're closing in on the official start of summer! It's exciting to see time passing, but I know it can be a tough time as friends and family are having cookouts and weddings while you're stuck at home. This is a time when it is especially important to invite people over so that you don't feel quite so left out. Does anyone have suggestions on things you can do when visitors come over?

I'm looking forward to your updates! Hope to see you all on the Live Chat on Thursday.

That is FANTASTIC! I'm so happy for you that you made it so far. I'm wishing you a safe and speedy delivery!

Thanks for sharing your story. It will continue to inspire other high-risk moms for a long, long time.

Hi, ladies! How's the weather near you? Try to find a chance to spend some time outside. For example, while eating a meal (when you'd be sitting up anyway) or reclining on a lounge chair. Do you have any other suggestions on how you can make spending some time outside happen?

I hope you all can join us Thursday at 2 pm Eastern time for the Live Chat. It's always fun, but even more so when we have several moms on. In the meantime...

Hello, Laamea.

How have you been doing the past few weeks?

12
I am so very very sorry. When you are ready, there are a few groups for infant loss I'd like to recommend:

Connected Forever: https://connected4ever.org/
Share: Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support Group: http://nationalshare.org/
Return to Zero: http://rtzhope.org/parents

The value of the support of other parents can't be measured. They understand what you are going through and can offer you so much comfort.

With thoughts of healing,
Angela
(((hugs)))

Hi, Alolita!

It is wonderful to hear from you! What excellent advice. Something I regret is not letting go of what was beyond my control. I couldn't accept what was happening. In any case, I'm so happy to hear where you and your little one are now!

Thank you for taking the time to share your story! Much love to all!
