Wow! What an amazing outcome that you were able to hold on another 10 weeks. It's wonderful to hear how wonderfully chubby and healthy your babies are now. I know your story will inspire others, so thank you for sharing it!

Making the Best of Bed Rest / Re: Monday Roll Call for December 10, 2018
« on: December 11, 2018 at 11:43 AM »
Thank goodness you have bathroom privileges back! It makes a huuuuuge difference to not have to stress about that. I swear it was MUCH more physical to get on and off a bedpan than getting up to use the restroom! The hospital is the best place for you to be right now, so do your best to embrace it. I spent so much energy mentally fighting that I was on bed rest. Ask your partner to bring you a few things from home to make it your own space: your jammies, pillow and blanket; some sweatpants/comfy clothes for during the day (instead of a hospital gown); your own shampoo and soap. Just a few ideas!

I'm so happy you listened to your gut and went to get checked out. I think we do sense when something has changed, even if someone else would say it was minor. Sending you positive thoughts for many more weeks of cookin'! Hope to see you on Thursday for the Live Chat.

The holiday season is well underway. It's exciting to see time passing, but I know it can be a tough time as friends and family are having holiday parties and are out shopping for gifts. This is a time when it is especially important to invite people over so that you don't feel quite so left out. What do you have planned? Or tell us what you will make a plan to do after reading this message.

I'm looking forward to your updates! It was wonderful to have such a great turnout for the Live Chat last week. Even with the struggles you are all going through, I have to say that we had a lot of fun!

Keep 'em cookin', mamas!

I love that. What a great idea and what an incredible friend you have! Are you on Facebook? Maybe you could post a picture once you've made a few: https://www.facebook.com/KeepEmCookin/

I hope to talk to you again this week on the Live Chat. I know it's tough with the time difference! Talk soon!

Hello!

Tell us what you're doing to capture the holiday spirit even though you are on bedrest! Listening to special music? Are you shopping online, or having someone do some shopping for you? Are you able to have friends or a leader from your religious community come visit you? And, for those who aren't linked to particular religion, there's always the "Festivus" episode of Seinfeld! https://bit.ly/2riPAj1 Laughter is universal!  ;D

Keep looking forward, mamas!

P.S. Whenever you are going to shop on Amazon, please first click on this link: https://amzn.to/2BNrD9z. Then shop! When you do, Amazon gives 6% of the purchase price to Keep 'Em Cookin' and that helps me to keep the forum up and running. Thank you!

Hi, Tricia.

Christina (posting on Facebook) says:
That would be so hard...sending prayers and good juju your way. I was on bedrest from 22 weeks and don’t know what I would have done without my husband to help cook and whatnot.

Making the Best of Bed Rest / Monday Roll Call for November 26, 2018

Hello, my dears.

I HATE to ask for help, just like many of you feel right now. It personally costs me more than $2,000 per year to run KeepEmCookin (for website hosting, website security and continued domain registration).  Your Amazon purchases are a way that I can help meet that goal.

It is Cyber Monday on Amazon, so it seems like the best day to make this request. Whenever you are going to shop on Amazon (not just today), please first click on this link: https://amzn.to/2DKT0T6 or on the ad above on any page. Then shop! When you do, Amazon gives 4% to 6% of the purchase price to Keep 'Em Cookin' and that helps me to keep the forum up and running.

So super mamas, how has the past week been? Who has an appointment this week?

Keep looking forward, mamas!
Angela

Don't forget: Join us every Thursday at 2 pm Eastern time/1 pm Central time for a live chat with other bedrest moms: http://www.keepemcookin.com/live-chat/

Making the Best of Bed Rest / Monday Roll Call: Giving Thanks
« on: November 19, 2018 at 12:17 PM »
Hello, ladies!

It is almost Thanksgiving, and you may be feeling a bit down about it. Getting through any holiday while on bedrest can be especially tough when you feel like you're missing out. Instead, try to consider it a marker in the passage of time, getting you even closer to a safe delivery date.

So tell us what you are thankful for. It can be big or small.

Keep looking forward, mamas!
Angela

***We won't have a Live Chat this Thursday, but will be back next week.

Hi, Toni!

Thanks for the email you sent me yesterday. I'll respond to you here because I know other moms are going through these same emotional and physical challenges. You are in a tough spot, for sure. It sounds like you can be thankful for discovering that your cervix had shortened and that your OB was able to do the cerclage.

Has your OB talked about vaginal progesterone? I have seen many many women here keep cookin' for weeks and oftentimes months with the combination of a cerclage and progesterone. That could happen for you, too.  :)

For your anxiety, guided meditation can really help. Take a look at these: https://bit.ly/2PPjQ35

Another way to manage anxiety can include writing down all of your anxious thoughts to get them out of your head and on to paper. They've been documented, so you don't have to keep running them through your mind.

Here are a few of my favorite "short cervix" success stories:

Hope all this can help you! Keep us in the loop! Especially after your next OB appointment. That will help, too.

Hello, ladies!
You all are doing the most important job in the world and you deserve all the support you can get!

The last couple of weeks on the Live Chat have been pretty slow. It would mean a lot to me, and especially the other bedrest moms here, if we could count on more of you to come out. It can be a lot of fun! Please let us know if you will be on the chat Thursday. :)

Keep 'em cookin', mamas!
