I didn't realize there is a sugar-free version of Carnation Instant Breakfast.  I love that stuff.  I've been making myself half-servings of the real stuff.

Making the Best of Bed Rest / Re: Roll Call for Monday January 24

I'm first!  Only because I've been up since 4am since a certain little girl sharing my body didn't want to sleep last night...
She got the hiccups, it was the cutest thing ever!
Another pregnant Monday, how many more will I have?
I'm 33 weeks + 4 days.  We have an ultrasound this afternoon - can't wait.
I'm getting super uncomfortable...I feel best early in the morning and whenever I'm in the bathtub.

Yes, I am at home, but my closest family member is 4 hours away.  Also, my grandfather was recently diagnosed with cancer.  Plus it snows every other day.....my Dad was in a car accident last week because of icy roads.  I can't ask my family to travel right now.  My good friends all live in other places - my local friends don't have kids, so they have basically disappeared since my bed rest has gone on so long.

I'm happy to help.
Here are some things I eat for meals & snacks that may help give you ideas.  Its different for everyone, but I hope these work for you:

For breakfast: I can have 2 eggo waffles, 2 slices of bacon, and sugar-free syrup.  Take it easy on the milk though (milk = carbs too).
You might try the Toaster Struddle Toaster Scrambles with egg, bacon, & cheese - they don't have many carbs.

For lunch: hard-shell tacos!  Skip the beans & rice though.  I order Chipotle online and my husband goes to pick them up.  They have their nutrition info online.  Or you can make grilled cheese sandwichs with low-carb bread.  Some brands of soup, like Progresso, are lower in carbs.  Wendy's chicken nuggets (10-pack), or a junior bacon cheeseburger.

For dinner:  think meat and veggies.  there are a few things at PF Changs you can order - like the Orange Peel Beef.  Get brown rice instead of white, of course.

For snack time:  nuts, goldfish crackers, fruit with cottage cheese, vanilla wafers (not many though), Special K Protein Plus cereal, Smart Ones frozen dessert sundaes!

I assume that most of us bed rest mamas won't be having a baby shower.  So....no one is buying anything from our baby registeries because they don't 'have' to?
I don't want to sound selfish...BUT it would be nice to have the basics at home so that I can take care of this baby after she is born.  I'm slowly buying everything on my registry myself....kinda sucks.  The baby could come any day - or else I wouldn't be on bed rest in the first place, right?  I hope I don't have to buy everything myself.

What does everyone else think?  Are you buying everything yourselves?

Yeah, there are good days and bad days.  Glad to hear you are having a good one.
Today is my 58th day of bed rest. I think the worst part is having no idea when it will end.  Today I'm 33 weeks and 2 days pregnant.
The second worst part is being alone most of the time.  My family is in another state.  My single friends abandoned me - haven't seen them since Christmas.  My pregnant friend is 38 weeks along and has a 2 year old son, so of course she is either tired or busy all the time.
At least if I were in prison I could make new friends, maybe?  :-\

tntmom,

I failed my gestational diabetes tests too.  I've been testing my blood sugar 4 times a day for almost a month now.  It's not fun, but it's not difficult either.  Basically all carbs = sugar.  You 'probably' want to limit yourself to no more than 3 carb servings per meal (1 serv = 15grams).  And 1-2 carb servings for snacks in between meals.  You'll be eating a lot more meat & cheese, so stock up on some Benefiber!!

Making the Best of Bed Rest / Round Ligament Pain

I've been having terrible ligament pains the last two days.  Any tips for relieving the pain, besides drinking lots of water?

That's strange Angela - my nurse told me NOT to rub the 17p injection site.  She said a big bubble could form on my skin if I did.  She said to only use ice on it.

Jag,

You are not selfish!  Bed rest feels like cruel and unusual punishment, especially when there are lots of other pregnant women out there going the gym at 8 months pregnant, or working full-time until they go into labor....it's like 'what did we do to deserve this?'
I have had more than 1 day where I felt like I was at the end of my rope.  Its really hard to sit still.  I have been on home bed rest for 8 weeks now (33 weeks preg tomorrow) - and it will likely continue for who knows how long.  I cheat when no one is home monitoring me.  I wash baby clothes or other things to help get the nursery prepared.  On one hand I feel guilty for doing it, but on the other hand it makes me happy and I know this baby could come any minute and someone has to get things ready for her.  Its especially hard because we don't have any family within a 4hr driving distance, and my grandfather was recently diagnosed with cancer so everyone is with him except me.
I'm just blabbing on about myself.....what I'm trying to say is:  You aren't alone.  Others are feeling the same way you do.  Use this forum to vent - and use it often!  Anything to keep your sanity.
You might check out this website called babypool.com - it allows you to upload pictures, blog, and interact with family and friends utilizing the babypool and other surveys.  It entertained me for a few days.

I haven't noticed a change. Thanks for the link, not sure how I missed that.
I think I'm just starting to get nervous.  I feel so big & uncomfortable that I feel like any day could be THE DAY.

If anyone is familiar, and wouldn't mind providing some info  ....will I know it when I see it?   ???

I'm still cooking - 32 weeks & 5 days.
54th day of HBR for me.  Time seems like its going SO slowly lately.
Getting my weekly 17p shot tomorrow - after tomorrow only 3 shots to go!
I have an ultrasound on Monday afternoon - can't wait for that.

Thinking of you Jac.  Best Wishes.
p.s. - I love the name you've chosen for your son!
