Hello ladies,
 Happy Birthday Kristine!
I joined Saturday of last week I believe. I am 18weeks, four days pregnant with twins, we aren't finding out what they are.  :D
I've been on bedrest for a week today for preterm contractions and a shortening cervix. My cervix last Monday was 3.68cm, Friday it was 2.7cm. I don't like reading up on what that means because I believe ultimately God knows what's going to happen, not the multiple articles indicating how early I may deliver.
It is so encouraging to read all of your stories about your success and how far along many of you have made it!
I had a doctor's appointment today with my regular OB and seem to be holding stable. My external os (the outside of my cervix) has opened slightly, but it is still closed internally and I haven't thinned anymore. The contractions are better since they've started me on brethine and indocin as well.
I've never in my life (since I was 13yrs old, 31 now) stayed home, I've always worked 30-50 hrs a week, so these four walls can close in really fast!
I have a 5yr old daughter at home who is the light of my life, and my husband is anxiously awaiting the little ones (his first kids). My hubby travels a lot, so I'm at home alone with her more then I'd like to be on bedrest! Thank heavens for families living close by!
Good luck everyone, please keep us posted!

@mckoygirl...
Going from working your butt off to sitting on your butt all day is a huge adjustment!

Loransmommy,
It sure is! I work 12 hr days, 3-4 days a week, and was pulling clinical time 8hr days 2-3days a week in an urgent care center. I literally had one day off a week. I have been staring off into space a lot, I think I'm at a loss of who and where I am right now. Still in shock, but it's only been a week of bedrest, so I'm sure I'll adjust and find something to occupy my time. Any suggestions? :-\

mckoygirl,
I have dvr so I just record lots of tv! Also, my mom comes over a lot and I have two dogs that keep me company. I do online shopping too! I'm also going to start cross stitching...I ordered a baby blanket that I'm waiting on to arrive. I play computer games and games on my iPad too. I like to rotate locations to lay down in also, so that I have different areas of my house to look at. I am 28 weeks now and started bed rest at 26 weeks. Technically 25 weeks, but my dr allowed me to go to work still...when I came home and on the weekends I had to lay down. I feel ok now, but I may change my tune after it's been longer. It also helps to have a weekly meltdown! I've had 2, each once a week, and I feel much better afterwards lol! My husband does a really good job making me laugh :) Talk on the phone and look into services that will come to your house. Like I have a groomer coming on Monday to bathe my dogs and give them a much needed haircut, and I'm trying to find someone to come and do my nails. I'm also going to have weekly pre-natal massages! My neck and back are killing me from having to stay in a certain position all the time. Anyway, I try to do lots of different things so that I don't go crazy all the time (just every once in a while).

So funny... weekly meltdowns help, huh? I've had two this week, but seeing as it was my first week on bedrest, maybe that will get better!
I would love to have someone come do my nails, what a great idea! My husband has an Xbox, and funny as this may seem, it's nice to do something mindless like that.
I'm still taking one online graduate course so that's serving as a little distraction for me. Getting on this forum and following each other is helping me too. What are you all doing about getting your hair done? I have mine colored and cut and I'm not sure how I'm going to manage that, being on bedrest. (So silly to stress over that I know... it was just a thought.)

I don't think it's silly one bit! It's things like maintaining your appearance that help! You have to keep your sanity somehow! I'm not sure what I'm going to do about my hair. I get mine highlighted as well, and I have bangs that need regular trimming. The guy that does my hair color lives out of state. He has a client list here in Houston and only comes every 3 months, so I don't care what my doctor says, I am getting my hair colored!!! He comes March 5th, so I'm hoping that my doctor will allow me to have a slightly more modified bed rest by then. She said she'd modify it slightly if things remained the same through week 30, and that will be exactly then. My baby shower is that weekend too, so I'm hoping for the best. I am due for a haircut soon so I better find out...
If your interested in online games, I have been playing on this website called gamershood online paradise for YEARS! it's www.gamershood.com You don't have to download anything, unless you don't have the most up to date flash player or something like that, and it's free. I love the room escape games and point and click games.

My hairstylist was nice enough to come to my house and do my hair.  A friend of mine also found someone nice enough to give me a pedicure/manicure at home too.  Now what I really need is my eyebrows waxed!  I'm starting to look like a werewolf (imo)!!!  LOL.

I just got my LAST 17p injection!!!
Baby Girl EDD 3/10/11.  Bed rest since 25wks (11/23/10), due to contractions & history of pre-term delivery.

Talk about eyebrows and manicure and pedicure!!  That's what I need done!  When I go to the doc on Tuesday I was going to ask about sitting for an hour to get my hair done.
Aniya Mckenzie - due June 4, bed rest since 14wks (12/7/10), due to IC: cerclage

Yeah...I was wondering about haircuts too ugh! I'm desperately needing a haircut but thinking sitting is defeating bed rest cuz it's still weight applied down there right? Sigh..luckily I don't dye or highlight my hair but it is long though!

Good news about mani/pedi...I found 2 different people that will come to me! I just will pick the cheaper one lol! One is going to charge an extra $30 to do a house call, which seems steep to me! I'll have to see if the other is cheaper when she calls me. This bed rest is expensive! Not only am I taking a pay cut, but everything becomes so expensive with all the online shopping (being charged for shipping) and services having to come to me! However, I did get free shipping from A Pea in the Pod when I called the store to order clothes I needed...I just told them I was on bed rest and couldn't come to the store. They had called me yesterday to notify me of a special savings offer that the store was doing. I needed a dress for my shower (that I'm going to have to lay down on the couch at the whole time) and was about to order online. I decided to call the store today to see if the offer was valid online. When they said no, I told them that I was on bed rest and not allowed to leave my house to shop. The sales woman immediately asked me which items I needed and she said she'd have them over nighted to me for free! I might use this bed rest to my advantage for other free things lol!

And yes, the sitting would defeat the purpose of bed rest. Wash your hair and lay down for 30 minutes, and then maybe if the cut only took 15 minutes or 20, then you layed down for a while and blow dried later??

Ok, I washed my hair, went to her and she cut it and put the foils in it, then let me go home to wash it out myself.  So I was only sitting for around twenty minutes. We set the timer so I would know when to wash it out. Is that bad?! She lives two miles from here so I wasn't riding for long either. I feel better now!

That's not so bad! I'm sure it was fine to do that. My doctor specifically told me I was grounded...not allowed to leave the house. Although I left last week because we were having our house painted and the fumes made me sick. My mom picked me and took me to her house. I just hope that things will stay the same and my dr modifies my bed rest at 31 weeks! Maybe she will let me do stuff like hair and nails. That's all I care about leaving the house to do!

Good for you mckoy.  I would worry about driving 2 miles and sitting 20 minutes.  I bet that is closer than your doctor's office.  Think of the time you spending sitting in the car and waiting room and the exam room when you have to go to a doctor's appointment.....

I was put on bedrest at 25 weeks b/c my cervix was 1.6.  I am 27 weeks 1 day today, and the last 2 weeks have gone by soooooo slow.  I keep waiting for this to get easier, but so far it is still miserable.  I have exhausted myself in online gaming, research etc....and I hate to read.  I had a major meltdown at my doctors appointment on Monday, I was crying uncontrollably and sooooo depressed.  If I stop to think for a second about my frustration in not being able to do anything, the tears instantly come.  I go for weekly checkups and just started the 17p injections.  I just want this time to pass quickly, as this is the WORST and most challenging thing I've ever had to do.  I live by myself so it is extremely difficult to be totally immobile, I do have to cook for myself and I can tell you that my diet has suffered tremendously - lots of takeout and lots of junk food binges b/c of the misery.  My family all live up North except for an Aunt I have locally who does my grocery shopping for me, without her I don't know what'd I'd do.  I too, worked a lot prior and have a type A personality which makes this that much more difficult.  I miss my job, I miss my co-workers, I miss my daily routines.....I also do not get paid to be on bedrest, so that is additionally stressful b/c I am my only source of income.  And yes, my hair looks like crap b/c I get it highlighted as well, and my roots are about 2 inches long.  I don't even bother with makeup anymore or my nails.  I have no desire to have visitors so they can just sit there and watch me watch TV.  Tried it, and it just stresses me out more.  I know this all sounds soooo selfish, and I know I'm lucky I'm not on HBR, but I really wanted to enjoy this pregnancy, it was the happiest day of my life finding out I was pregnant as the doctors told me I couldn't have children and now I am on strict bedrest till the end.  Although one doctor (I see a high risk specialist every other week) said this week once I get to 34 weeks she will ease up SLIGHTLY on my bedrest so that is my new goal - to just get through the next 6 weeks which doesn't seem like very long until I think of it as it's a whole month and a half left to go...ugh.  I am 41 years old and it is my first pregnancy making it all that much harder and less enjoyable.

This site has helped reading everyone's stories, but it has also been harder b/c I see how lucky you all are to have husbands to help, freedom to online shop etc.... and for me it's just me and my baby and wondering how I am going to pay my rent or for food in the next coming weeks.  I try not to stress about anything for my little Gia's sake and I also remind myself that I was told I couldn't have children which devastated me and now here she is, my beautiful baby girl cooking away.  Prior to becoming pregnant, I was so depressed looking at everyone around me with children and being told that I could not have any.  I come from a large family and at one point dreamed of having 6 of them.  I never found my knight in shining armour to make that dream come true, so God had made that dream come true himself.   What little sanity I have left on bedrest is saved by reminding myself that I can honestly say that finding out I was pregnant with Gia when I was told I couldn't have children saved me from a life of constant depression and resentment due to my infertility.  I am truly grateful, God has blessed me with this pregnancy - Gia saved my life, and I know that now it's time for me to save hers..........

Good luck to you all, you're all in my prayers and I thank you all for being here the last 2 weeks since my baby house arrest started :).

Baby Gia, due May 10th....bedrest since 1/25/11 at 25 weeks, due to shortened cervix (1.6).
C-section scheduled for May 3rd, yea!!!
