Monday Roll Call for March 14
« on: March 14, 2011 at 08:33 AM »
Hello, dear bedrest mamas!

How's everyone doing? How many weeks are you? Any appointments to look forward to this week?

For any of you currently on 17P injections or who will be taking 17P injections, I've posted an article here about how to obtain a prescription and seek financial aid for Makena, which as of today is the brand name for 17P: http://www.keepemcookin.com/news.aspx

Keep 'em cookin', mamas!

I am still on modified bedrest - I will be 32 weeks tomorrow.  No appointments this week - hoping to get some restrictions lifted at 33 weeks when I go back to see my doctor.

Had my 3-D sonogram last week at my 31 week appointment- the baby weighed 3 lbs, 9 oz!  So hard to believe!

Other than that, all is well.  Hope everyone else is hanging in there!

I'm still cooking away also....will be 32 weeks tomorrow, yea!!  Had a little scare yesterday, thought my water broke so I went to L & D to get checked out.  Turned out I was fine, but they were picking up a lot of contractions that I didn't even know I was having.  I always thought that feeling was just the baby shifting positions and coming closer to the service to see me lol.  They sent me home and told me to mention an FFN to the doctor.  I called this morning and haven't heard back yet.  Also, went to an infant CPR class yesterday that the dr gave me permission to go to, it was nice to get out.  I saw the maternity ward, the nursery and the mommy rooms - I couldn't help getting all teary-eyed looking at the little empty cart in the room just waiting for my little Gia to be in!  Only saw one baby in the nursery, the hospital was actually very quiet, lots of empty rooms on the side of the hall I was on.  Nurses said all the babies were in the rooms with their mommies, which also made me cry...so sweet :).  I think it's all been so surreal up until seeing the maternity floor yesterday, and now it's real and right around the corner!  I think I'm moving into the scared stage now...lol.

Doctors appt on Thursday, I'm hoping she is up to 4 lbs and more cooperative as they haven't been able to give me any good 3 or 4D pictures because the little bugger always has her hands and feet over her face :(, I'm dying to see what she looks like now!!

Good luck this week everyone!
Baby Gia, due May 10th....bedrest since 1/25/11 at 25 weeks, due to shortened cervix (1.6).
C-section scheduled for May 3rd, yea!!!

Hello everyone! I'm still cooking as well, 23weeks, 4 days with twins.
I go to the specialist on Friday for another ultrasound and I will officially be viable then! I know it's silly to have those tiny milestones, but at least I'll know they should live if they decide to come after that. I've been having contractions that are harder then they've been in the past, but less frequent, so I'm watching those closely. Everything else is going great. So funny, I can already tell the babies have two different personalities. baby "A" is SO active, moving nearly ALL the time, verging on ridiculous at night time, and baby "B" is much less active and only moves in the morning and maybe once or twice later in the day. I would say I can't wait to meet them, but I can and I will! As long as it takes for them to be ok.  :)
Keep cooking moms, we're getting there day-by-day.
Due date: 7/7/2011
Twins (we're not finding out the sexes!)
5th pregnancy (5yrs old-put on bedrest with her @ 35wks for PIH)
3 previous losses
Put on bedrest this pregnancy @ 17weeks for Cervical shortening & preterm labor
Thanking God for each day I'm given with my twins!

Doing very well over here! 33 weeks tomorrow. I can't believe how far we've come! I have another appointment on Wednesday and I expect it to be the exact same as it has been every single week since put on bed rest. Last week the doctor gave me permission to eat at a restaurant and get my nails done! It was great!

My hands and feet have begun to swell. I rarely have shoes on since I'm always in bed so I didn't even notice about my feet. The flip flops I wore the other day left imprints on the tops of my feet. I was surprised. Also, I've had to take off my watch and all my rings. I was sad to take off my engagement ring and wedding band. I've never taken them off since my husband put them on me - other than when I had surgery over the summer. I have put them on a pretty chain around my neck, so at least I have them on in some form!
Put on bed rest at 25 weeks on January 19th with cervix measuring 2.8.
Expecting our first - baby boy Loran Lee Morgan III on May 5th.
Getting induced at 39 weeks + 1 day on Wednesday, April 27th because of preeclampsia.

Drs appt didnt go to well today. Cervix measured at 15mm, huge difference from two weeks ago at 27mm. I am so dissapointed. I was hoping to get off bedrest since I was measuring really well since they first put me on bedrest. She said it could be just natural for how far along I am.  but Im not so sure. I may of lost some of my mucus plug last week, but she said that doesnt neccecarily mean that I will go into labor anytime soon. I will be 34 weeks on Fri and she told me after 34 weeks they dont stop labor. I am kind of nervous and frustrated all at the same time. My  measurments have been so good the past month or so and now this on top of everything else.

Hang in there Arenee:D I've seen women go for weeks with their cervix that thin. Just stay off your feet and pay attention to any contractions you may be having. If you have a leak of fluid (watery, that is more than just one gush) or any contractions, call your OB and report it. I've seen plenty of 34 week babies do very well. You've done great! Hang in there. You're doing everything you can do at that's all your baby can ask of you. Your body may just be ready to have a baby. I would love to make it to 34weeks! Keep us updated.

Hi ladies, sorry I'm late to roll call!

I hit 24 weeks yesterday - but a significant amount has happened since the 7th when I joined.

On the 9th I went for my cervical check and though there was only a little change, it was enough to bother them.  They required me to come back on the 10th for a 2nd check and for steroid shots...  and I also had to take the Glucose Tolerance Test.

Luckily on the 10th my cervix had improved to 1.5cm and 1.3cm with fundal pressure.  Unluckily, one of the nurses gave me the first steroid shot BEFORE my GTT results were in - which caused my blood sugar to skyrocket and the perinatologists to have heads exploding all over the place - so I was admitted to the hospital that night.

I've been here since then...and on a diabetic diet because the steroid shots made my blood sugar spiral up like crazy -and- I managed to fail my GTT by 5 points.  Ugh!

My next cervix check is Thursday, the 17th.  They're also going to do the Fetal Fibronectin test on Thursday.  If the fFN is negative and my cervix is the same (or better) and I'm not having contractions, they're going to let me go home on bed rest there.  My Mom is flying in to help us out, so that will be great.

Sooo that's where I am now :)  I'm fine, Logan's fine, I'm ready to go a little nuts from being in the hospital, but it could be worse!

Sorry I didn't post last week. I am still here. 29 weeks and holding. My blood pressure has been behaving itself for the most part but we've had a little scare with Eli's size. He was in the 72% 5 weeks ago and last week he is measuring 44%. That is almost a 30% drop in 4 weeks time. It is mostlikely due to the blood pressure meds they have me taking but it's still not healthy. The Dr will check again in 3 weeks to see if we are staying in the safe zone. The only other option is to take me off my meds which would not be safe for me or Eli if my blood pressure skyrockets. If they decide to take me off the meds I'll be in the hospital to be closely monitered. Other than that I have been struggling with deppresion. My cat died, I can't seem to shake this cabin fever and I just found out that my 4yr old is going blind in her right eye. All in all, it's been a tough couple of weeks. I know I need to focus on all the blessings in my life right now, they far outweigh the hardships. It just feels like an uphill battle right now.
