Roll Call for Monday March 28th
« on: March 28, 2011 at 07:25 AM »
Welcome to another Monday Roll Call!

I know it can be tough to stay motivated, so I thought it might be good to share the things that brighten your day most. For me, the highlights of bed rest were negative FFN tests, seeing my babies on ultrasound, and having my husband paint my toenails. One night he set up a "romantic" dinner on a card table next to our bed. We called it "dinner on the terrace." What keeps you going?

And as always, let us know how many weeks along you are and if you have any appointments to look forward to this week. If you had any appointments last week or any trips to L&D last week, let us know how those went.

Keep 'em cookin', mamas!

Hello everyone. Still here at 25weeks, 4 days twins. My negative fetal fibrinectin last week was a sigh of relief. I am to start having those every two weeks.
So far no painted toenails... lol I can't picture my husband doing that! I've told him he may have to help me shave soon because reaching my legs is becoming incredibly difficult! But he is so amazingly considerate. His job has let him work out of home with only two planned out of state travels on his current project in the next 15 weeks. I'm so thankful for that. He usually travels Mon-Friday, sometimes is gone as far as Norway or London. In-between conference calls he comes upstairs (to my room of confinement  ;) ) and checks on me to see if I need anything. He drives my daughter (not his daughter, mind you) over 2 hrs a day back & forth from school and never complains. He cooks dinner every night, and cleans the house (as much as a man can anyway!). I am so incredibly blessed!  :D
I have two friends who are coming to visit Thursday and bring lunch (yum!) because they know I tire of the same home-food and snacks.
My husband is definitely what keeps me going.
Good luck everyone, keep your chins up!
Melody
Due date: 7/7/2011

Thanking God for each day I'm given with my twins!

Hi everyone! 28 weeks and still cooking! Glucose test tomorrow and ultrasound on Friday. My mom is flying in on Thursday for a week to give me a little break. She has all sorts of things planned for my son and her to do so I can get some rest.  No L&D trips for me lately (YAY). I assume I will have another fFN test this Friday as well as the ultrasound so here's hoping for a negative for once!!  I have cheated on my bed rest just a bit but my muscles in my legs were just feeling terrible so i've been getting out just a bit more for little trips to the store. I don't have any contractions while I am out so thats a good sign! I havent been sleeping very well lately though, i toss and turn and i feel uncomfortable in my own skin some nights, i'm sure some of you can relate.

Hi,
I am 35w 3d today :) I have been off bedrest since I reached to 34 weeks, about 10 days now. I get a very bad backache if I sit up or stand for half an hour so still have to lie down most of the day. But having the freedom to get up or go out for a short walk is amazing after 10 weeks of bedrest. I went out for dinner on Sat. and for lunch on Sunday. It was more that 3 months since the last time I went out to eat. It was awesome!

I had an appointment last week with my OB to examine the cerclage. She thinks stitches can be removed in the office and there is no need to go to OR to have it removed. yaaay! since my husband will be out of town next week it will be done in 2 weeks. no ultrasounds to check the cervix length anymore, but still have the NST every week.

Less than 2 weeks to get to term, unbelievable. When I had the cerclage at week 23 I could not see myself coming this far, this close to have a term baby :) My ultimate goal at that time was to reach to 28w and hope that even if my baby was born then he would be well taken care in the NICU. It seems like a miracle to me. Definitely reading the stories of other moms in bedrest did help me stay positive and hope for the best. Wish you all the best and keep cooking the little angles :)

Sara.

26 w 1 d today. Doing good. I have an appt on Thursday & am super excited to see baby Jacob! Other than that things are going smoothly & Jake is kicking a lot more. Its crazy to think I have 10 weeks left until my cerclage is removed & I'm off bed rest. 13 weeks of bed rest down, 10 more to go :) I'm scared to be so optimistic but I cant help it. I'm so excited to me a mom!

Keep em cookin ladies!

Hi Ladies,

Hope everyone is having a good start to their week.  I am at 28weeks 5 days. So excited! Feel like my mental stamina is ready for the other leg of this "marathon". 9 weeks down and 7 to go! Had my glucose test last friday at my weekly appt. Not sure what my results are but I am hopeful.

@Kristinnicolle: Hi there, just noticed earlier you were talking about getting your cerclage out. Well, I am really happy to have a fellow cerclage buddy! I am getting mine out at the 36 week mark too. How are you feeling about this? Does your doctor think you could go into labor soon after? My doctor said it just depends on the woman, but I still want to be ready for labor that day! What is the date of your's? Mine is somewhere around the week of May 17th-20th. Well I be praying that we both make it to that point. Hope you are well!

@Saraonbedrest: So exctied for you! You have done such an amazing job! Isn't it funny how much we appreciate now. Like going out for dinner! I am not at that point yet but I got to go on a drive last week and that was wonderful. It was nice to be out in the sunshine and fresh air. I hope you stay in touch about having your cerclage removed. I am going to have mine removed in the doctors office too, but I am still a little nervous. You never know what could happen! Hope your next two weeks fly by.

Hugs,

Bre

Hello everyone, I'm still cookin too, 34 weeks tomorrow yea!!!!!!!  I NEVER thought I'd make it this far and this week is a major sigh of relief!  Doctors appt Wednesday, can't wait to see how big she is.  Me on the other hand am HUGE!  So far gained 40 lbs, yikes!  I am getting to that unbearable uncomfortable stage.  The pregnancy induced carpal tunnel is getting absolutely awful.  I also toss and turn all night long as no position and no amount of pillows is helping.  I am also starting to experience severe heartburn in the middle of the night and extreme thirst.  The problem is the more I drink the more I pee.  As it is, I have to pull myself out of bed every 2 hours to pee.  I am uncomfortable in every position as she is frank breech and they do not think she will be turning.  They scheduled my c-section for May 3rd and I seriously don't know how I will make it until then.  I feel like now that my bedrest has been somewhat lifted, I am back to being as miserable now as I was when I first went on!  I did venture out to a Seafood Festival yesterday that the casino I work for sponsored, which was nice as I got to see some of my co-workers, but it definitely tired me out to the point where I was couch bound all day today.

I wish I could find some energy to even do some little things, but being this uncomfortable is making that hard!  Glad to hear everyone is doing well!

Lori
Baby Gia, due May 10th....bedrest since 1/25/11 at 25 weeks, due to shortened cervix (1.6).
C-section scheduled for May 3rd, yea!!!

Hi ladies!  I can't believe it's Monday again already. :)

I'm exactly 26 weeks today and I'm HOME!!

The docs checked my cervix again today - it was back to 1.4cm from 1.37 two weeks ago, so not changing enough to consider it a threat.  They didn't recheck my dilation, but they did do the fFN again - and it was again negative.

All in all, since my glucose levels are running pretty even and my cervix is unchanging and the fFN is negative...they feel I'm stable enough to maintain everything at home.

I have to schedule a cervical check and a growth scan for the baby for two weeks from today but other than that, I'm being pretty much left alone except to check my glucose after meals.  I'll take that!!

Glad to see you other ladies are doing well. :)

Sorry for not checking in guys - 24.5 weeks yesterday. I'm settling into the idea that we're past viability. Nothing special has happened. My appetite has picked up today - and I've eaten like a horse LOL.... but I'm still only up 5 lb so I guess it's ok.

seems like everyone is doing good so far!! YAY!! keep it up!

@BWilson-

I'm so nervous about getting the cerclage taken out. I think its because I have no idea what to expect during & afterwards & they wont be using any anesthesia. I remember during the procedure seeing so much blood and i guess it kinda freaked me out. so im hoping that its not as much of a mess since theyre just removing it. hopefully itll be quick & easy and i can go to my fav restaurant right after for the first time since ive been on BR lol

im supposed to get it taken out the week of june 5th. my doc said the same thing about labor. I was already dilated and ripening (at 13 weeks) when they put the cerclage in so i have no idea if that will play a role. i live about 45 miles from the hospital my doc works at so im nervous about the whole labor process and in LA a 45 mile trip can take 1.5 hours. traffic + contractions + screaming wife will make for a nervous hubby. lol

Hey Everyone!
I am 27 weeks tomorrow(also my Birthday...yay me!).  I have been on bedrest for only 7 days so far.  We see the OB on Wednesday for fFN and follow-up.  I have tons of questions for the doctor...like: why not do US every week since that is the only way to eval funneling and shortening?  Also, don't they want to confirm bedrest is helping?, Could I be having contractions even though I have no pain and wouldn't you want to check?...Anyways
So wonderful seeing my husband really take on the role of primary caretaker of our 12mth old son.  They are having a blast together!  Thank goodness for my parents, my in-laws, and a close friend who alternate days to care for us.  So far, not too stir crazy...just hard giving up the reins of my household and son.  Good luck to all you wonderful women!

Hiya Ladies!!

31 weeks tomorrow and still cookin! My blood pressure is holding very steady so the bedrest and meds are working. I am pulling out of some nasty depression which is a relief. I had a Dr appt last week and got permission to WALK in the pool at the YMCA. I was sternly warned not to raise my haertrate but to move slowly and allow my joints and muscles to stretch! I was so excited!! I have been obsessing about it ever since. A friend of mine sent a bathing suit saturday so I should be in the pool by the end of the week. Now. if I cheat aand am not careful my blood pressure will go up and my pool privelage will be revoked. I will not cheat!!

What keeps me going and brightens my day? Well, my husband for one. He is always doing little things to show me how he cares. A bouquet of flowers in my bedroom, offering to rub my feet or back etc. My kids are also amazing. My 6 and 4 year old have been painting wonderful pictures to hang all over my bedroom. My room looks like an art gallery. My friends and family calling to check on me and visit when they can. you guys! I always look forward to reading the updates from all of you. Thanks for making this time easier to bear.

Corrie
Mother of 3 blessings. #4 on the way. On bedrest at 23 weeks due to Pre-Eclampsia.

It's great to read everyone's posts today-- seems like all is well for the bed resting population!
I'm 30 weeks (woo hoo!) and baby boy and I are doing fine. I was feeling sort of blue the past few days. I've been on bed rest for 16 weeks....yikes. I'm beginning to wonder what my life was like OFF of bed rest. I seriously can't really remember what I used to do (and I was one busy lady running after my 2 year old twins)! Now I have full time child care and I'm sitting here resting while baby #3 incubates. It's so surreal. Anyone else feel this way?
I was glad to see Angela's topic...what keeps us UP/staying positive/good things?! I have been soo very fortunate to have tons of visitors. People will come morning noon or night, whatever works for them and I'm always happy to see them. It gives me reason to put on a new outfit or wear jewelry. It's nice to mix things up a bit. I've also been allowed weekly outings, which have been a lifesaver. Going out to dinner or to a movie has never seemed so decadent and luxurious.
I go to the doctor's next Monday. I'll get another ultrasound. This babe has been measuring in the 75% percentile, so things are looking good for him. Can't believe we're entering the home stretch here. Last 10 weeks...finally!!!
Happy bed resting,
liz
