Monday Roll Call for May 9
« on: May 09, 2011 at 07:31 AM »
I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day! I know it can be difficult for those who have lost a baby. I try to focus on being thankful for the time I had with my angel babies still safe in my womb. Everyone here knows that life is full of challenges. And I know what a strong group of women you all are. Looking forward to your updates!

So tell us what you are up to this week, and remind us how many weeks along you are.

I hope to talk with you all at the live chat tomorrow at 2 pm EST. We have a maternal-fetal medicine specialist (Dr. Adam Wolfberg) available to answer our questions, and I can't wait.

Keep 'em cookin', mamas!

Good morning, mommas!  I am 25 weeks and 4 days today and have been on bed rest now for 2 weeks.  Yay for getting this far!  Only 14 more weeks or so until due date... That still sounds so far away.  BUT, we have 2 weeks under our belt!

Thankfully, we've had a fairly quiet week as far as preterm labor goes.  Bed rest and drinking lots of water seems to be helping with any contractions.  I'm just hoping when the doctor checks me next week she finds that my cervix hasn't changed.  Two weeks ago, I was 1 cm dilated.  Yikes!

This past week was my birthday week, so I had plenty of messages and visitors to keep me busy.  And online gift cards!  I'm loving those while stuck in the bed.  We've had some people from church bring us meals, so thats been helpful, as well.

I have noticed baby balling up a bit more lately.  But I'm guessing thats to be expected since I keep getting bigger.  Doc says for BH contraction to count, my entire uterus must tighten up.  I had been getting some lower tightening that didn't seem to be concerning.  When he balls up, I lay on my left side and drink water.  It eases up afer that.  But I'm always overly cautious!!!

I hope everyone has a great upcoming week!  Try not to get too bored...
On bed rest at 23 wks (4/26) w/a BOY! Dilated to 1 cm
Mommy to a 4 yr old daughter and 3 yr old son
Previous preterm labor with DD at 31 wks

Hello, mommies and Happy Monday!

I am officially 32 weeks today and also officially "safe to deliver" according to my doctor.  We are 100% aiming for at least 34 weeks and obviously there will be no inductions or c-sections to take the baby at this point because I have an intact bag of waters and no fetal or maternal distress. So, here I sit, baking away.

If I go into labor they will only do minimal amounts of intervention (no medication) to stop labor.  We'll try resting, shifting positions, waiting, fluids, etc, but nothing substantial.  They don't want to terrorize my cervix anymore than necessary.

For the last week though, I've been able to go on one outing a week, so long as I don't push myself.  We went out for Mother's Day dinner (with my Mom, who is here helping me) and I really enjoyed seeing the world outside my living room.  I'm tired today from all the movement yesterday, but that's about as dramatic as it's gotten.

I'm planning on taking my glucose tracking sheet to my Sweet Success (the gestational diabetes police) meeting tomorrow and telling them to stick it up their noses.  I haven't had a high reading since March 10 when they gave me the steroid shots.  My baby is in the 49th to 51st percentile for weight at every growth scan which is spot on average.  I am not gaining weight.  SO, there is no reason to make me continue poking my fingers five times a day.  And these numbers are while on a regular diet, not a diabetic diet.  They've been SO mean and fussing at me at every appointment for not "eating properly".  How am I not eating properly if my baby is growing exactly like he's supposed to! Ugh.

Anyway, that's that.  Hope all you other ladies are doing well today!

Well I should be 36 weeks along but instead I'm holding my new sweet Dylan Ross in my arms at home!  My water broke last wednesday morning a little after 6 am.  I waited for my mom to get here then off to the hospital!

I started having really painful contractions around 8am and was finally taken to the OR to deliver a healthy 5lb14oz baby boy!  He was taken to the nicu for observation because he was born before 36 weeks.  I'm so lucky he doesn't have any health problems, and we were able to all come home on Sunday.

Hope everyone has a great week and I will keep checking in!

I'm here!

I'll be 26 weeks tomorrow, this is day 15 on bedrest in the hospital.

My blood pressures are ok for now - we haven't raised the dose of meds since Thursday, so I'm hoping we can go a few more days before it has to go up. The longer we can keep it down, the longer we can hold off on delivery - especially since all of my labs have come back again with no other signs of pre-e.

Hi everyone
I am now 29 weeks and 3 days as of today. Been on bedrest for 3 weeks now. Have an appt on thursaday since I get seen weekly so hopefully no change and the cervix is still the same. Went to hospital on friday seen a change in discharge looked like it might of been some of the mucus plug. Every thing looked good cervix was at 1.4 from what they measured my doc measured it at 1.3 last wednesday. So thats what the cervix is around at last check. I was having contractions 2 to 4 minutes apart wasn't feeling them though they let me leave since everything looked good and the contractions stopped.
Congrats Allison
Hope all the other mommies are doing good.

Week 2 of bedrest.  I'll be 23 weeks on Wed...that's the day my Corinne was b/d last year.  It'll be a rough day.  My husband is taking me to visit her grave...we can drive right to it, so no walking.   Otherwise I've been working at home...all is well...just bored and lonely.  I've found that if I get up and take 5 minutes to put a little effort into my appearance I feel better.  I still look like hell!

So happy to hear about Dylan's safe birth and that everyone else is doing well.
Mom to Z born 9/28/07 at 31 wks
Corinne b/d 05/21/10 (IC)
Jake and Cassidy born 8/15/11 after a cerclage and months of bedrest!  Take that IC!

Hello everyone. I'll be 32 weeks this Thursday and will have my last FFN test and start having weekly NST's on my twins. My husband is funny because after this Friday (my coming appt), he's planning on enslaving me to try to speed things up... He was actually disappointed that my cervix is getting thicker!  ::) Can't blame him I guess, he's been through much more than I have after 15 weeks of bedrest! If my FFN is negative, I fully plan on lightening up my bedrest and being more active around the house to try to help him. 34-35 weeks for twins would be OK with me! Although I'm ok with waiting as long as they need.   :)
I'm having the standard discomforts which are miserable, but I know it's only temporary. It doesn't help to complain, does it?!  ;)

Congratulations Allison, that's wonderful!!!  :D

To all you other mother's out there still in the "20's" weeks, hang in there, it starts to FLY by!  ;)
Due date: 7/7/2011
Twins (we're not finding out the sexes!)
5th pregnancy (5yrs old-put on bedrest with her @ 35wks for PIH)
3 previous losses
Put on bedrest this pregnancy @ 17weeks for Cervical shortening & preterm labor
Thanking God for each day I'm given with my twins!

Hi Mommas,

We are at 35 weeks this Wednesday! I can honestly say, WOW! I was not sure if we would nake it this far... so grateful. This week is 15 weeks on Bedrest... I know i read some of you are new at the whole bedrest thing and counting the weeks can seem hard. But I promise it will get here quicker than you realize... hang in there, you can do it! We are all apart of a miracle in the making.

I was even allowed to have a "bedrest" shower this weekend. It was great! There were about 35 women there and I layed the whole time. I was a little nervous about contractions but I didn't have any.
I have my cerclage removed next Thursday (5/19) So we will see what happens. My doctor said some womens water breaks right away and others don't go into labor for a week or two!

Congrats Allison, so proud of you.... you give us inspiration!

Congrats Allison & everyone else! Such an accomplishment for all of us to keep to the bed rest. NOT EASY!

Appointments this week - the usual 2 - ob-gyn, perinatologist Tues/Fri respectively for AFI and NST.

Last week was a bit eventful - Friday's ultrasound for AFI looked great, and we almost skipped the NST. It concerned them enough (think it was a 'decel') to send me immediately via wheelchair to L&D, mentally preparing me for an emergency c-section.  I felt pretty calm (amazingly) as they were telling me things sometimes move really fast and if they didn't have time to talk to me about what was going on - just know that they were taking the best care of my baby.... So I called my husband who rushed over to find the baby doing fine on the L&D fetal monitor.  They watched me for a couple more hours prior to letting me go home with instructions to carefully monitor the kick counts. Which I've been doing and feel plenty of movement, and hiccups, and feel like I'm getting bigger.

We realized that we better expedite getting some furniture in the nursery and some supplies 'just in case.'  I've felt for weeks (months?) that at any appointment they may just keep me in the hospital, but it is getting to be a more real possibility. So, we (he) spent the weekend preparing - buying a car seat, getting nursery partially organized, unpacking the house we moved into on Tuesday. Never a dull moment.

Fortunately, yesterday was 35 weeks for us (on bed rest since March 10) and I hope that delivery now would be more than likely ok.

Appointment tomorrow - fingers crossed fluids are above 5 and that baby looks stellar!

Best to all and hang in there - you all are inspirational!!

Congrats to Allison and your sweet baby! Glad he is doing so well.

I am here at 31 weeks, will get to 32 by this Wednesday which will feel so great! I've been on bedrest for 4 weeks (wow!) since week 27 for short cervix, positive fFn, then dilated to 2 at 29 weeks.
After this week I hope to get to 34 and then 36 but am really wondering at this point, what I will be able to do and at what point. I have weekly appointments and last Thursday I seemed stable, still dilated to 2, 50% effaced (what does this translate to as far as cervix length?), my cervix has been holding at 1 or 1.5 cms long usually..the baby is still high but I think head down. I really hope she stays that way because I had an issue with my first being breech for too long.
I've been really bored this last weekend....but had a good mother's day seeing my little boy.
So glad to hear about everyone else still hangin in there!

Congrats Allison!!

I'm 33 weeks tomorrow and going on my 7th week of bedrest.  Last weeks appt. was stable and the doctor said they would possbily lift some restrictions around 34-35 weeks.
With the good news, I increased my activity slightly(dumb!) on Friday and Saturday.  Early Sat. evening I had small amount of spotting and was told to go to L&D for evaluation.  They monitored for contractions, performed manual exam and ordered US.  After all that, things looked fine and I only had 1 contraction in 2hrs.  Scared my husband and, strict bedrest at least until Thursdays appt.
Time is flying by now and I am having to deny my "nesting" instinct to get the baby's room finished.  Plenty of people to help with that and he will be in bassinet at first anyways.  Couple bright notes to being on bedrest...seeing my 13 mth old bond with his grandparents and, also, having my husband really "step up to the plate."  Nothing sexier than hubby dusting and vaccuuming!
Hope everyone has a great week!

Congrats Allison!!!!!

I'm 25 weeks tomorrow. It's been 4 weeks in hospital and total of 8 weeks on bedrest. Appointment tomorrow, hoping my cervix is still at 1.6 ( 8 weeks out from a cerclage) Just had to start the finger prick for blood sugar thing- 4 times a day, its been a pain to not be able to eat for 2 hours after a meal since it's hard for me to eat a lot at once, im really ready to eat an hour after my "meal". My sugars are normal, on a normal diet so hopefully I won't have to continue the rest of the pregnancy. The twins are starting to kick so my husband can feel it now. Pretty exciting. The nurses have to find their heartbeats twice a day and they the kick the paddles every time. Makes me laugh to think of trouble makers I have coming.

I'm just trying to stay positive, to smile when I'm upset and to speak up when something upsets me or doesn't make sense. ( Like being woken up at 6am for my first blood sugar check). That doesn't happen anymore. Smiling really helps, which sounds silly but my accupuncturist told me to start a few months ago and it really works even when you don't want it to.
Cerclage 3/6/11, bedrest at home since 3/4/11 at home. Bedrest in hospital since 4/12/11 @ 21 weeks
1st 2 babies- boy girl twins
