Baby Amelie is here!
« on: November 30, 2011 at 08:14 AM »
Hi Ladies,

Just wanted to give you an update-

After 16 weeks of bedrest, I was scheduled to have my cerclage removed last Tuesday at 3pm.  At 6am- my water broke! Clearly the baby had other plans and couldn't wait.  They took my cerclage out in L&D triage and then we played the "wait and see" game. By 1pm, nothing was happening, so they started my IV pitocin and by 3pm I was contracting every 2 mins but not dialated enough.  I got my epidural and was comfortable for the most part.  Then 8pm hit and I was 9cm dialated, feeling some back pain with each contraction and turns out that LO was posterior (sunnyside up!). I asked for more pain meds and the nurse went to go get some, when she returned, she said the fetal monitor was doing funny things, then all of a sudden she called a code pink (fetal distress) which brought a ton of people into the room.  I was then informed that my LO's heart rate was going down and that I would have to deliver via emergency c-section.  At 810pm- at 36w 4d, Baby Amelie was born after 16 weeks of bedrest, a cerclage, an induction, an edpidural and a c-section!

It has been quite a ride and I am grateful to have you ladies on this website to share our thoughts and feelings with.  Bedrest is hard, but I think back about it now, and it is so worth it when we look into our little girl's eyes.

I wish you all the best of luck in your pregnancies, bedrest in my opinion does WORK- you have to believe and think of the end result and that's what'll get you by day to day, week by week.

Thanks Angela for a great website and support group!

Thank you for sharing with us! Any pictures you would like to share?? I had an emergency c- section as well because of fetal distress. It is quite impressive how quickly people are in the room getting you prepped! Hope you recover quickly!!! Enjoy that lil baby!!
