Some great news today
« on: March 02, 2012 at 08:30 PM »
So most of you probably wont know me but I was on here for 11 weeks straight while on bedrest, and i try to pop back as often as i can to support y'all.

Well today we went to see our OB specialist an hour away to talk about what our plan would be if we were to have another baby. It seemed that i had every issue in the books as somepoint in time during my 32 weeks of pregnacy - including being in labour for 3 of them.

Well we got some great news!!!! they realized that I was missdiagnosed with IC - i have dynamic cervix, and it was super dynamic but it was never below 2cm for more than 12 hours. The biggest change that happened was that i when i went into preterm labour it decreased to less than 1cm and dialated - and stayed like that until G was born.

so we talked to the doc for about an hour today - and the concensus is that there is a 85 to 90% chance that i will have a normal healthy no bedres pregnancy with the next baby. No guarenteed bedrest - just hopefully 40 weeks of feeling and being fat.

i'm not on here to gloat that i'm not going to have bedrest again - but to let you know that for the last year all i have wondered is if it's going to happen again - and is it worth 7 ot 8 months in bed and how the hell am i going to deal with it. BUT there is hope for the next time. maybe there is no bedrest.

i am on here often - even if i dont' comment much - and i'm always around to ask questions - i'm a bedrest graduate and a NICU survior so ask anything you want. i'm around.

blessings all!! Always praying!!!

Hey there, Jac! It's great to see your take-charge attitude! And that's great to get some positive news! Did you talk about progesterone supplementation to help to keep your cervix stable, like the 17P shot or Prochieve progesterone gel? With your history of dynamic cervix and preterm delivery, you're the ideal candidate, and it could help to keep you off bedrest.  ;D

she gave me quite a bit of information about it.

i'll be on it at 20 weeks for sure, and possibly sooner. I'll be on suppositories again the same as with Gray.

we'll see once we get there - still a few more months until we actually start to get pregnant but at least we know now what to expect.

hey! Thanks for update... Dynamic sure sounds better than incompetent! ;D  but how can they tell the difference? My cervix seemed to be dynamic, measuring around 3cm, sometimes a bit less, sometimes a bit more, and it was behaving untill about week 22 when it went down to 2cm, then 1.3cm on wk 24 with bad funelling too. Is this IC or have i got hope it'll bounce back? i guess next time you know from t start how to tame that evil cervix ;) all t best!
first pregnancy, IC - due to Lletz in 2010?
progesterone pessaries since wk 22 - cervix 1.6cm
bedarrest since wk 24 - cervix measure 1.4cm
hospital strict bedarrest at wk 26 - cervix 8mm
back at home, strick bedarrest since week 28 - cervix 1cm
cervix dilated 2cm at week 35

That's awesome news Jac!  So exciting!  I hope your next prgnancy is seemless and enjoyable!  I am heading to get Essure permanant birth control this month  as the chance of my PP and other bleeding disorders reoccuring with subsequent pregnancies is too much for us to chance.  I have such peace knowing that I won't ever have to repeat that 23 weeks.  I have three healthy happy amazing boys and I'm good with that!  Sending love to you and good vibes when you are ready to make another baby!
