When should I be on Nifedipine?
« on: March 29, 2012 at 09:02 AM »
Should be going to an OB for this pregnancy (previous 29 weeker), but am going to a family practice doc. Diagnosed w/ BV last Friday, started contractions up throughout my days at random and far apart. Been having my sharp pains for at least 2 months. This happened w/ LO #1 for many weeks before I went in initially and they could only stop labor for 1wk b4 he was born. Cervical length was 3.5-4cm 20wks and is now 3.1cm at 22wks. Shouldn't be below 3.5! Dr isn't putting me on bedrest or anything. Shouldn't I be on some type of contraction medication with my history of spontaneous PTL?  :'(

Can you not see a peri With your history?  You should try and push your doctor for a referral. I would.

I've looked around the area but the other OB's don't have much time to spare for another patient (from what the nurses said). My Dr now is wonderful, she'll usually call an OB for opinions.

I had a cervical length of 1.9 at 24 weeks and contractions.  Was put on bedrest, nifedipine, and prometrium immediately.  I would insist that more be done to ensure the safety and health of your baby.  Keep your doctor, but at least get a second opinion.

Good news! Went in today to insist on getting my CL checked because of all the pain i'm having. Still at 3.3cm range! Found that there are Perinatal Dr's in the area so already got a referral and am hoping to meet next week. Sweet!  ;D
