Cold turkey on nifedipin and labor
« on: May 12, 2012 at 02:44 PM »
I justvwould like to know from those who took nifedipin how soon they went into labour after stopping it
My c-section is for the 21 st but the doctor cut my progesteron from tomorrow on and might cut nicedipin on thursday. I amnafraid to go into labor as soon as I stop taking it as if Inam late for half an h to take my doseI already start contracting... The labor is. Ot whet worries me its the risk of another bleed...

I think that's like terbutaline?  If so, my contractions started 12 hours after stopping it. They were immediately painful and started 3 mins apart. It felt like the contractions I had when I was induced with my first baby. My labors are usually pretty fast, but that one lasted for 37 hours, with contractions 3 mins apart for most of it. It felt like going off the meds caused the contractions, which kicked me into true labor (33 hours later). Hope this helps :)

Thank you for your reply.
Actually my doctor took me off the meds only 12 hours of being admited into the hospital. My contractions skyrocketed exactly 12 hours after to the point I though I wouldn't make it till 2 pm my c-section time... But we did. My LO arrived happy and screaming...
