hi all after 3 losses 25 23 and 18 weeks plus a healthy 35 weeker i am debating another pregnancy...

i had a stitch and progesterone with my 35 weeker so decided to get pregnant again had suture and progesterone and lost baby at 18 weeks so very nervous...

whats the earliest you cant take nifedipine to stop tightenings ?i get tightenings from 14 weeks

Hi Kayley,

I'm sorry to hear about your losses. I was given nfidedipine from about 14 weeks onwards.

you probably think im thick but is it recommended for tightenings??
docs have never offered it to me,

You've really been through a lot. I'm so very sorry for your losses. I can understand why you'd be concerned.

Nifedipine does help to limit those tighten feelings and contractions. But, we don't know if it helps to keep the cervix stable, the way progesterone does. Did you have the progesterone shots, gel or suppositories?

hi i had supposotries is any one kind better than the other?

i had a stitch in although they dont think i have a fully incompitent cervix just not as good as other people who go to term xx

Studies have shown that either form of progesterone significantly reduces the risk of recurrent preterm birth by about 40 percent to 50 percent in women who have experienced preterm birth in a prior pregnancy due to preterm labor or preterm ruptured membranes.
