Monday Roll Call for October 15
« on: October 15, 2012 at 09:56 AM »
Happy Monday!

Any appointments this week? What else are you looking forward to? It is so important to have things to be excited about it to help keep you motivated.

I hope each of you will schedule something this week to anticipate. For example: a dinner with someone special, have a great friend bring you lunch, ask someone to finally take care of that thing around the house that has been driving you crazy but you just haven't been able to ask. You are special, and you are important. Don't hesitate to ask for the care and attention you need.

Keep 'em cookin',
Angela

Hi All!
I'm new to the group and prescribed bedrest last Tuesday due to short and funneling cervix. This is my second pregnancy dealing with cervix issues. With my DS who is now 2.5, I was on bedrest for three months and delivered him three weeks early- he was a whopping 9 lbs 4 ounces! Must have been all those Oreos I ate :).  Anyway I was put on bedrest last week at 21 weeks a few weeks earlier than last time.  I'm getting progesterone shots And TV us every week.  I'm very lucky to have some ladies that I work with at the local Y helping with the care of my very active little boy! Here's to keepin em cookin! Love to chat with anyone who wants to talk!
Ronni
Short cervix due to LEEP procedure

My turn to start! 29 weeks today (moderate bed rest since 23 for a short cervix with b/g twins)). I am starting to think about nesting and have taken up knitting which I find surprisingly soothing. My parents are here (in Poland, where I live) from Australia and will stay until the birth and my recovery from it. So hopefully another couple of months. This week looking forward to (apart from it being over, which I feel every week) more knitting, visits from my mum and dad,  and possibly washing and ironing my paltry collection of baby clothes -I always scoffed at the ironing idea but I woke up this morning feeling an urge! I feel like I have suddenly expanded a lot in the last few days so I hope it means my bambini are fattening up nicely along with me.

Hi all - I'm still cooking (33w2d) although this is my last week of bed rest! I'm allowed up as of next week (34 weeks).  I've been on bed rest since 21 weeks when I had a short cervix sewn up.  I've been having the progesterone pessaries as well.

This week my thing to anticipate are: My hubby and 3 children coming back from overseas, my steroid shot, and my cleaner lady coming!  All those things will make me very happy.

Angela - thanks for the encouragement to be a bit more demanding.  There are some things I need to sort above the cupboard in our bedroom and I need to nail hubby to get them down for me! He's been fobbing me off!

Rose - awesome to have your parents there and for so long too!  Must be lovely to have such company!  I'm v. impressed with the knitting too.  Could not do it for love or money.  It seems so productive!

Have a great week keeping your legs crossed ladies!

Good Morning and Happy Monday!  I am 27W3D today with b/g surro twins- and have an appt this afternoon for a cervical lenght check and routine OB appt.  I have been on modified bedrest for just over 4 weeks.  The time is flying by and I can see that 30 week mark in my future!  30 weeks I feel like I will be able to breath a little better.   I don't have much to look forward to this week, its my daughters 10th birthday and since I am on modified bedrest we are having family dinner at my Grandparents on Wednesday to celebrate.

Thanks Angela for the words of encouragment, I am so bad at asking for help, I just am used to doing it on my own, so I don't often remember that its ok to ask for help.  My kids have been a great help!

Here is to another week on modified bedrest- Guess I will know for sure after my appt today!

Hi gals.  New here. I'm 32 w 3 days. I've been off work for 4 weeks on what I call pseudo-bed rest. I was having such trouble with light-headedness and fainting that I was confined to bed for all but about 4 hours in the afternoons when it would lessen. Monday (1 week ago) I had a good day and way over did it. Tuesday I went to the hospital with contractions and they gave me a shot to stop them. Friday I had to go back again. This time they told me that I could either severely restrict my activity on my own or I would end up on hospital bed rest. They also gave me a 20 lb lifting limit and my 2 yr old son is almost 40 lbs. I go to my doctor on Wednesday. I have yet to be officially prescribed bed rest, but I feel it is coming. I have been in fairly severe pain almost constantly for a week now.

I'm going to see if my husband will drop me off to get a pedicure this evening, before I officially get restricted to home. I want one so badly.

Happy Monday! It's so great to know you all are well and your babies are still cookin'. I'm 33+3 today. On Wednesday our family will celebrate my 100th day of bed rest and our daughter, a 33 weeker, will be 20 months old! It will be a great day. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon. Fingers crossed that all goes well. I'm hoping I can schedule my cerclage removal appt. for 36 weeks. We'll see what the doctor says and hopefully we'll make it through the next few weeks!!!

Keep em cookin'!!!

I'm 34 weeks this week and still on bedrest. Had a scare last night and went to the doctor. I was leaking fluids and having contractions. The fluids turned out to be nothing dangerous and as long as the contractions stay sporadic it's ok. Thank God :) I was scared. So I guess I'll be seeing my home health care nurse tomorrow for my next progesterone shot. Thanks God I have someone here helping with things and my 9 yr old.

Hi all. I've been on bed rest since 18 weeks, I’m currently 28+5 weeks (IC with a preventative cerclage placed, on progesterone). So proud to say that I've been able to make it to 28 weeks! Roll on 30 weeks. :D I had my specialist appointment yesterday, my CL was 2cm with some funneling but the stitch is holding well. My husband and I went out for lunch yesterday, it was the first time I have been out of the house in 10 weeks (other than going to the hospital of course). It is my daughters birthday next month and my Mum will come and visit at that time so that is what I am looking forward to now. We can do this ladies.

Hi girls

still here - 14 weeks tomorrow and now on limited activity. allowed to stand for 5 minutes max at a time. Not a lot of fun.

Had a crazy weekend - my dad ended up getting a new set of lungs on Friday morning and so I'm in toronto with my mom taking care of her and him. at least it's a lot of sitting. I go home tomorrow night.

next apt is Nov 1st and since i'll be 16 weeks I anticipate bedrest then, but if not, then 18 weeks. Been having some pressure on my cervix and babE is now about 6 days ahead on growth - so it looks like he/she will be as big as Big Bro was. Goodness.

praying for you all always.

Hi All
I'm 19 weeks 1 day, on bed rest for a short cervix and contractions.  Was officially put on bed rest last week after 2 weeks of restricted activity.  I'm a little concerned how this is going to work with a 4-year-old and almost 9-month-old at home, but we'll manage somehow.  Had an appointment today, and cervical length check and the good news is it is holding steady, so hope to keep it that way.  I don't have anything too exciting planned for the week, but am hoping to get started on some crafty things.  Either starting on some Christmas presents or maybe a blanket for the new baby.  At this point mostly trying to get back into the groove of bed rest, I think it helps that I just did this not too long ago with baby #2.  Hope everyone has a wonderful week and keeps those babies cookin'!

Hello everyone
I'm still here too, 34 weeks and 4 days.
I had my steroid shots last weeks. Baby dropped, but the doctor is not worried anymore. I'm resting one more week and I hope I can make it to 36. My cerclage is off in about 10 days.
My mom is coming from Italy this afternoon, very happy about it :)

To all the new moms on bed rest, try to stay positive, I've been on modified bed rest since week 15, almost 20 weeks. It's not easy, but it helps a lot.

I hope everyone has a quite week :)

Hi, ladies!
Just wanted to remind everyone about the live chat today at 2 pm Eastern/11 am Pacific.

Also, please help spread the word about the KeepEmCookin Forum by nominating it for a WEGO Health Activist Award. Please nominate KEC for Best in Show: Community/Forum

The nomination form is on the right side of the page:   http://info.wegohealth.com/health-activist-awards-2012

Awards like this are a great way to get the word out about KeepEmCookin so that we can support as many bedrest moms as we can. It's torture when I meet a mom who says, "Oh, I wish I had known about you a year ago."

My most sincere thanks!
Angela Davids
