37 weeks! I've technically been off bedrest for a week or so, but I'm still trying to take it easy. Don't want the baby to come just yet! I am slowly becoming more active, though. Over the next two weeks, I will transition from trying to *prevent* labor to trying to *bring on* labor, because if I don't go into labor on my own, I will be having a scheduled C-Section due to concerns about the baby's size. I'm not sure that's really a problem, because my first was born 6 lbs 15 oz at 40w4d, and our families are not exactly tall ... so I think it's just genetic. But the doctors feel it's best to not go past 39 weeks because there's a possibility the small size is due to the placenta, and as we get near 40 weeks, the placenta will only get older and not work as well.
I'm going to try to convince them to let me add a few days to my scheduled delivery date due to the fact that I know the minimum date of conception (that is ... I know that I definitely did not get pregnant before a certain date, and that date is *later* than the one estimated based on last menstrual period date ... so I *know* the placenta is a bit "younger" based on that). I will talk to both my OB and MFM about this on Wednesday, and we'll finalize a date at that time.
My history is: short cervix found at 28 weeks, hospitalized for 4 days, then at home on bed rest for the next several weeks. No change in cervix since, yay! They will check me for dilation for the first time this Wed, though, and I really hope things get going. Even if I end up with a C-Section, I want to go into labor first, and the docs agree that would be good.
