Fluid leakage...
« on: August 13, 2014 at 01:37 PM »
Hi ladies! So far so good- going strong at 26+4 and looking forward to making that 28 week milestone. However, I have a question. When I'm sitting up or walking around the house (always briefly) I sometimes notice some fluid leakage. I'd say about 2 tblsp per day. I'm pretty sure it's urine, and went to the hospital last week to get it double checked, and they swabbed me and said it was not amniotic fluid. However, I made the mistake of googling this, only to find a woman who had been leaking amniotic fluid and had been swabbed negatively several times and sent home. It turned out that she was indeed leaking amniotic fluid, and lost her baby at 27 weeks. This really scares me! Does anyone else have this going on? One thing I read us that amniotic fluid does not smell the same as urine (excuse the TMI) but what I have smells like urine. I am going to the perinatologist today and will have him check the amniotic sac via sonogram, but I am a bit freaked after reading that post. Any thoughts on the matter?

Same happened here. My doc said its cervical fluid. She always checks my fluid level and it's always looked good so I don't worry anymore. I think I noticed mine around 25-26 weeks. Are you on progesterone? That can create extra fluid leakage too. Let me know what doc says. I'm sure everything is ok!

Also specialist said the cerclage can cause additional fluid leakage due to a foreign body in your cervix.

Thanks, Nicole! I'm not on any progesterone. My ob said only if I have contractions, which other than the occasional BH, I'm fortunately not having. Did your ob check your fluid levels via ultrasound?

I went to the perinatologist today, and everything looks great. Cervix is at 2cm, and he said it isn't going to lengthen, interestingly. Also, he said that I am funneled to the stitch, but that it's holding tight and looks great. He also said I have an abundance of amniotic fluid, so not to worry. Baby looks great as well...

Same happened to me...googled it and saw lots of false negatives... Meanwhile that happened at week 16 after cerclage and now I'm at 37.6 with good fluid levels....think the cerclage had me leaking a lot ....I've just learned to ignore it
